Moving to a new place

Moving to a new place never mind country on my own and renting for the first time was pretty daunting but having Patryk from Hamptons as my contact made it a lot easier. He has always sorted out any issues ive had quickly and professionally

Great experience

Jason was excellent to work with - reliable, organised, honest - key attributes that I hadn’t experienced before with London estate agents who were always quite the opposite. Jason followed up promptly and always kept us updated throughout the process. Jason worked tirelessly to help us complete before our Christmas deadline and went above and beyond for us. Thank you for all that you did. We are thrilled to be out of london and in our lovely new home in the country!

Very Professional and Efficient Management

Hamptons have been managing my property for a long time. It is a difficult property due to various issues. They have been very professional and efficient in all matters. They deliver as promised and I cannot argue with the quality and price of workmanship. I would definitely recommend Gemma Ward and the Hamptons team for management of flats.

why?

Why was i told by one of your agents in West Hampstead branch that Countrywide are nothing to do with Hamptons when you are the same company and it even stating at the bottom of your site that Hamptons is a trading name of Countrywide Estate Agents Limited hidden under a title?

Very nice experience of renting a flat through Hamptons. All the team are very friendly and happy to answer any questions. Our maintenance contact, Ruth, was always quick to respond and empathetic. And Samantha and Bhavika were really quick, helpful and professional when it came to the end of our tenancy and the move out was very straightforward and stress free.Would recommend 100%.

The Human Factor

The service is very good. The difference is made by the people who work in Hamptons. The manager of my properties is Mrs. Elle Seaby. Elle is a very professional and expert person, always ready to help solve the problems that are faced every day. In my opinion, she is the real value of this company, the real driver that convinced me to let Hamptons manage my properties.

Exceptional service

Our property manager, Lucy, is a pleasure to deal with. We have had a few issues recently with heating etc and Lucy has been extremely competent and helpful every time we need to get in touch. The issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently and it makes our lives so much easier to know we have such a friendly, approachable person looking after our needs.

Not to be trusted!

My experience of Hamptons Maidenhead was it seem very positive to begin with, however, their failure to inform the landlord about our plans to have foster children stay with us could have cost us dearly. It turns out that both the agents and the landlords were very greedy and dishonest as they were happy to take our years rent without sharing all the information that we had disclosed. Please be aware the agents may seem like nice people but do not trust anything that is said. just communicate via email at all times.

Breaking their code of practice.

I don’t believe Hamptons to be putting the clients best interest first as something very very sly has happened. My offers were never qualified, I never had response from my offers, and then they accept another offer without giving me any chance to counter. We have been house hunting religiously for the last 6 months and refreshing any new listings online every 24 hours so we knew we loved the property as soon as we saw it come onto the market. So immediately had a viewing and that confirmed our love for it. So we had another viewing shortly after and then the same day put in an offer. We went straight to the Hamptons office after viewing the home and we said we would like to start with an offer of £1.45. They then recommended we go in at £1.3 as they thought we had a shot at that type of figure. So we of course followed their instruction but was equally confused as to why they suggested that. They then said the seller wanted to wait until the end of the month to see what other interest had come in, so we went with the flow. We then became more in love with the property and we didn’t want to loose out so we upped our offer twice in just a few weeks, yet every time they gave us the same response “the vendor still wants to wait until the end of the month”.We was very eager and frightened about missing out so I popped into the office mid way through the month to see if it’s looking likely etc. Then he told us the offer was refused and they’ve had other offers. We didn’t understand why I had to spontaneously walk into the office to find that out! What would of happened if we did sit tight till the end of the month! David the agent told us that if we offer the asking price of £1.5 then it’s ours, he said this several times. So we immediately upped it again for the forth time to the asking price of £1.5 with completion in a couple of months. At this point I thought a deal had basically been made. After 2 days of no news I finally had a call to say another offer has been accepted which was in fact lower than our offer but they were just flexible when on completion. I was straight away shocked that I was not given an opportunity. What the agent should of done was call me to say you’d rather a delayed completion and I would have then said ok that’s fine. My last offer wasn’t set in stone, as far as I was aware we was still in the process of negotiating a deal so I don’t understand why he pulled the rug from under our feet half way through negotiating a deal?!Another point that I find horrifying, is every single offer we have put forward has never been qualified and we have never been asked for proof of funds. I have now looked into it and it’s actually ILLEGAL to not qualify any offer. That is the agents job and that is what the client is paying them to do. We have now made the decision to up our offer £25k over the asking price just to help give us another shot at grabbing the house we wanted. So that is what Hamptons have cost us if our offer does get accepted. Only now have they asked me for proof of funds, this is baffling as I know many agents and none of them would dream of putting forward any offer without qualifying it to make sure it’s legitimate. Have they qualified the other offers from the other buyers? As far as I’m concerned, I could be outbidding the bloody sellers friend who has no intention of buying the house. When I look back on their process since my interest was shown I do believe them to be very sly. I’m not sure if theres been a bribe from the other buyers to the agent, (this is extremely common in Brighton at the moment), but our treatment does not add up. Why did they want to plonk us on the back burner for a month and then accept someone else’s offer without giving us any opportunity? And why did they want to delay things by making me put in a silly offer of £1.3 which would just waste everyone’s time. And why did they never qualify my offers, were any of them ever brought forward to the seller? Please just be weary of Hamptons because I personally don’t trust them. I believe they have lost the client a lot of money because everyone may well have carried on negotiating yet they agents definitely favoured a particular buyer/offer for some un known reason. And finally the worst bit about it all is the service I have received since all of this. I’ve not once had an apology or any kind of sympathy. I have been told that it’s my fault and I should of acted faster despite me doing everything I could have possibly done. I have called and called and called and everyone is always ‘busy’ or ‘on the other line’ and that’s the response I’ve had for a solid 3 days now. I have asked for the regional managers number and they gave me a fake number that hadn’t been in use for years. Everything about me experience has been unlawful and just damn right wrong.

Puneet at Hamptons Paddington was wonderful. He had a great manner with both the buyer and myself (which is unusual in my experience as sometimes estate agents can be aggressive with one or both parties!) I think his great approach, good communication and diligent attention to the progress of the sale paid dividends. Thoroughly recommend Puneet.

Bad for tenants / perfect for landlords

They would defend or turn a blind eye for their client-landlords even if they are being unfair to the tenants. Customer is king with them so be aware if you are using them to rent a place.Five stars if you are a landlord reading this! Best estate agent for exploiting tenants!

Great agent, professional services

I have recently viewed properties with Laura from Sutton Point of Hamptons. Laura was a great agent who has shortlisted good options for us to view within our budget. She was able to provide useful and detailed information about the properties. I appreciated her professional services.

Misleading to say the least

We rented a newly built property in Stratford upon Avon through Hamptons. They kept hidden from us the fact that the house had no internet infrastructure built into it. Called around for ISPs to hook us up to the service without knowing whats going on. When calling Virgin and EE they said that the property doesnt even show up on their infrastructure map and refused us as customer at that point. Finally when trying BT, they sent two techs on two separate occasions to check whats going on and they confirmed the lack of infrastructure. So beware, if dealing with hamptons, make sure to check yourself as many things as possible before getting into a property as they may mislead or withhold info from you.

Outstanding customer service We have recently rented an apartment…

We have recently rented an apartment via the windsor branch of Hamptons and cannot recommend them highly enough. Martine and Maxine were especially professional and made the whole experience hastle free. They responded to questions and calls promptly and made all the paperwork very easy. A very minor maintenance issue was remedied as soon as I reported it. We would like to say a big thank you to the whole team.

Great customer service from the Great Missenden branch

I came across Andrew and his team at Hamptons Great Missenden quite by chance and was not disappointed. Excellent service all round. Responsive, sound advice, nothing was too much trouble. I can’t say I enjoyed much about the process of selling the house, but Andrew’s positivity and cool head just about preserved my sanity. Thoroughly recommended.

Their agents stood me up

Their agents stood me up. Called two days before the appointment to change it, and then they didn't show. What a shame.I suspect this was because I had a chat with their mortgage broker that day, who explained my mortgage capacity wasn't that high considering my salary... They could have just told me they weren't interested in pursuing me as a customer instead of not showing up at all. What I didn't mention to the mortgage broker is that I own over 10 properties in 3 countries and have enough cash to finance purchases up to 1M.Thank you

Legal Action

We rented a property through Hamptons as the agent for 3 years. During this time the landlord was delinquent in adhering to the tenancy agreement and carrying out repairs. This ultimately led to a year long legal dispute that resulted in the court ruling that the landlord had in fact not carried out their obligations. The full deposit was returned and compensation was awarded. Although Hamptons were not responsible for the maintenance, they were the acting agent and supported the landlords defence.

Great service, friendly staff

Having rented through Hamptons of Bath for over 4 years we have had a fair amount of contact with the staff at our local office all of which have been very friendly and helpful, especially Melanie the property manager. When she took over the portfolio she took the time to introduce herself and assure us that should we need anything she would be happy to help. Sure enough, some maintenance issues came up, as they do and she kept to her word. Nothing was too much trouble, she always tried to make sure work was carried out as quickly as possible with as little disruption to our life.Thank you Melanie for overseeing our recent bathroom refit and being on our side when contractors let us and you down!We hope not to have too much contact with you (in the nicest possible way!) but should we need you, we know we are very safe in your hands! Thanks again!

We have recently moved into our Hampton's property and the entire move in process was handles with such efficiency and ease. Melanie is our property manager and she has consistently been quick, effective and really responsive in all her communication with us. She quickly resolves and queries (happy to say we haven't had many of those either!) and she is always available to get in touch with. I couldn't recommend her more.
