Worst experience ever getting our deposit back - we moved out of the property over a month ago and have not received a check out report or any correspondence about when we can expect our deposit to be returned despite chasing multiple times. Henry has been completely incompetent and giving vague excuses, he's now stopped replying to us entirely. We are now having to raise a dispute via TDS for the £2600 they owe us as they won't respond. Terrible letting agency - BEWARE if renting from them.

Garton Jones & Landlord Rosa, Tothill Street 12 This was by far the worst real estate experience I’ve had in the UK, especially considering how expensive the property was. When I moved into the apartment at Tothill Street 12, I was not informed that the previous tenant had tampered with the bathroom, which had already been causing serious problems. The bathroom leaked continuously for around three months, flooding the floor outside the bathroom and soaking the surrounding walls. During this time, Garton Jones was extremely slow to respond, and the issue only began to move forward after I escalated the situation repeatedly. Shortly afterward, the boiler stopped working, leaving me without hot water for nearly two months. I had to heat water with a kettle just to take a bath. Communication from Garton Jones was incredibly slow, often taking weeks between responses, apparently while the landlord decided which contractor would be cheaper to hire. Meanwhile, I was left without basic living conditions. When I moved out, the situation became even more frustrating. I was charged for mold damage, which they claimed was due to ventilation issues. However, the mold was clearly on the walls surrounding the bathroom, caused by the ongoing leaks. They had installed a bathroom fan that didn’t properly remove moisture, and despite providing photographic proof, they still tried to shift the responsibility onto me. A council employee who inspected the apartment even acknowledged that the property was in poor and aging condition. On top of this, several fixtures in the apartment were already broken or run-down when I arrived: The sofa bed was broken The bed frame was damaged The oven knobs were broken Overall, the entire apartment was poorly maintained, yet I was treated as if these problems were my responsibility. Given the high price of the property, the lack of transparency, slow responses, and attempts to charge tenants for pre-existing issues are unacceptable. I would not recommend renting through Garton Jones or dealing with this landlord.
