Dishonest Estate Agents

Dishonest Estate agents. They have zero customer service and are happy to defraud you at any cost. I wouldn't trust them with a doll's house. Especially the Blackheath branch. The branch manager there is extremely underhand, which is difficult if you want to make a complaint against the blatant lies their agents tell. Disgusted by this company.

I lived in a property managed by fjl for 2 years and almost decided to stay with them for longer, because they were renting out a property that seemed ideal for me. However, based on the poor customer service I received throughout the 2 years living with them, I decided to go with a different estate agent - best decision I could've made! During the 2 years I spent with fjl, I had to chase a minimum or 2 times to even get a response on issues that came up - even urgent ones, like when the washing machine flooded the kitchen and leaked to the flat below. I reported this straight away and didn't get a response for days, and when they finally got back to me they made me deal with the supplier myself even though fjl never provided me with the information I needed for this, causing me to go back and forth endless times (and of course, they would take their sweet time to provide me with the info the manufacturer requested each time). This caused me to live without a washing machine for longer than a month in the middle of lockdown - being high risk this was a huge inconvenience which I never received compensation or even an apology for. They didn't get back to me about my move out date or final rent payment until I chased different people several times. When I moved in, the place was full of clutter & filthy and when I requested professional cleaning, only surfaces and floors were done (not oven, fridge etc. Which I had to do myself). My guarantor and I received threatening "rent in arrears" letters incorrectly 3 times because the property manager wouldn't tell finance department about arrangements I would make with the landlord. I moved out over a month ago and its take seven emails for anyone to get back to me about the deposit. SEVEN. And even then, their response was "we'll get back to you this week" (they, of course, didn't). The list goes on. The sales team was responsive when I was moving out because it was in their interest to organise viewings and ensure the move out went smoothly, but there's been radio silence since - the person I was dealing with ignoring my calls, emails and WhatsApp messages. The only person that is consistent is Bhavi, thank god for her. Although she's from a different department that doesn't deal with any of the issues I've had, I still forward her my messages when everybody else at fjl is ignoring them and she gets back to me straight away every time. Which after being ignored for long periods of times (often weeks), is highly appreciated. She is definitely the exception though. I'm not sure if it is laziness or incompetence but dealing with fjl is an incredibly frustrating experience that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Justyna, whom we have been dealing at the agency, was very proactive finding new tenants and helping us trough the process with prompt and helpful advice. She's fantastic.
