Tom helped manage a complex sale from end to end. I can say with certainty our sale would not have closed without Tom's influence and input. He's measured, very knowledgeable and critically, he understands the human 'dynamics' of managing buyers, sellers, lawyers etc. He was across every detail and decision all the way through. We live overseas (the UK process was torture) and Tom guided everyone through it. He's a very decent human being and we'll always be grateful. Thank you Tom.

Carried out over 20 viewings in 4 months and failed to make a sale. Was told no offers but came to me with an offer. Failed to carry out financial background checks on buyers and showed through buyers who could not afford the full asking price. Disturbed me endlessly throughout the week with viewings and refused to carry out a single weekly open house to reduce disruption. Was unable to increase/negotiate the offer to full asking price. When will this industry accept that their model is broken beyond repair? Properties should not be sitting on the market unsold for months on end. Agents overvalue to get the listing then spend months trying to achieve that price hoping that the vendor will run out of patience and reduce the price so the agent can sweep in and collect their 2%. Tired of having to deal with these people. Unfortunately it is a necessary evil if you want to move on. Update 1/5/2024: No follow up received. Review downgraded to one star to more accurately reflect the service given and the ability of your sales brokers to carry out their job and listen to their vendors. Best wishes not required. Dear Mr Painting I hope you’re well. I just wanted to follow up as I have seen your Google review regarding your complaint about Douglas & Gordon. I’ve spoken to Tom Yeomanson, who was the agent looking after your property and he has told me how disappointed he was not to sell your property and he completely understands your frustrations surrounding that. Unfortunately, estate agents are reliant, to a fairly large extent, on the market and all we can do is price the property based on the current market conditions and then work incredibly hard to try and sell the property. I can see that there were over 20 viewings on the property and one offer within 5% of the asking price, which does indicate that Tom worked very hard to find you a buyer. I completely understand that having lots of viewings is annoying, having sold properties myself in the past, I know the irritation of having to keep it spotless all the time and being interrupted intermittently!! However, for most properties an open house is not the best route which is why agents will rarely do them. Certain properties will benefit from a large group of people all seeing it at the same time, or in staggered viewing slots, but we generally find that the best results will come from booking individual viewings so that most people who want to view the property, can view it. Open houses will cut out anyone who can’t make that time and date and properties that don’t have a very large square footage are rarely shown to advantage. I would like to extend Tom’s apologies that he didn’t manage to get an acceptable offer on your property, and I really hope that you will have better luck in the future. Hi Alisa Tom was told there were no offers on the property. This was explained to him from the outset. The buyers who made the offer couldn’t stretch to full asking price due to budget constraints.Therefore they should never have been allowed in the property in the first place. If your agent had been doing his job and carried out financial background checks from the beginning he could have saved me endless days sitting in my car while he showed these people through my flat. After all you would think that someone asking for 15k to sell a tiny flat would have a level of competence and skill to do the job. But not in this case. It’s obvious that having individual viewings and individual chats with buyers doesn’t work otherwise the flat would have sold. In most forward thinking countries open houses sell properties faster and completion is quicker. Your system doesn’t work, as proven by the number of properties sitting on the market for months on end. If people can’t make an open house appointment they’re not interested in viewing. 8/25 - Overjoyed to see that when I posted this review your company had already gone into administration proving my point that your model is outdated and totally redundant. Let's hope you are all out of a job by the end of the year.

Tom Yeomanson went above and beyond even my high expectations (which are very high!).. he always surprised me with his ability to react to situations in a positive manner and also keep us calm throughout what was quite a difficult process at times ( due to other factors). He is simply outstanding at his role and explains complex situations in an understandable way. You always feel like he is on your side and is available for queries and questions ( sometimes even at 10pm!). I would not hesitate to recommend him - in fact he is such a true gem in this industry so.. I had to ask him where I can post a review versus him asking for one! He even went out of his way on a busy day and bought flowers for us! If you are selling or buying give Tom a call.. you won't regret it!

Tom is a real estate superstar. We were listed with another local agent for 9 months with 40 viewings and no clean offers. We switched to Tom and he got us a firm offer for the asking price in 3 *weeks*. Tom also helped us find an effective, efficient lawyer and an expert electrician to do some remedial work before sale - all completed in record time. We exchanged 7 weeks from the offer date. He stayed deeply involved in the process from start to finish effectively as a project manager in addition to a sales manager (a HUGE contrast to the usual branch office network approach where the agent we signed up with moved branch after the first week, the open house staff had never seen the house, and even turned up late to viewings leaving our tenants to show the house). Most importantly, Tom is a thoroughly nice, rational and professional person. He was straight forward about the realities of the property while always putting our wishes first. We look forward to working with Tom and Douglas Gordon again.

Alice has been a great help with the sale of my flat. She’s always available and quick to reply.
