I don't usually complain online, but I had a properly nightmarish experience with Dexters. My flatmate and I thought we had found the most lovely flat to move into during the first lockdown. We signed a 2-year lease, asking for a break clause at 6 months. Our request was quickly dismissed as pointless. 2 months into our tenancy, my flatmate and I were sleepless and at breaking point: the lack of soundproofing meant we could hear everything that happened above us tenfold - footsteps late into the night and early in the morning, constant humming of a boiler above, phone ringtones and conversations, coughs and sneezes, falling and moving objects... For 2 months, our landlord refused to believe us and to check the situation. A soundproofing expert then confirmed our situation was not acceptable, and the landlord offered a partial fix that would not happen for another 2 months. So we pleaded with Dexters to give us an out. They saw how exhausted and desperate we were and promised to 'negotiate' with the landlord. They then came back to us with an offer to vacate the property if we paid £11000+ in fees. So we went straight to the landlord who wasn't even aware of Dexters' proposal. We eventually managed to bring the exit fees back down to £5500, and were told we were 'lucky'. I have since viewed another flat with Dexters for which they once again refused to include a break clause at 6 months. Never again. ***UPDATE*** I haven't heard anything from Dexters after they responded to my review, nor do I expect to, seeing as the director of the agency was fully aware and participated in our case.

We’ve used quite a few letting agents in London, and this Notting Hill office stands out, largely thanks to some great work by Yasmin Gollagly. She makes you feel genuinely listened to and understands what you’re looking for, from needs, to wants. She sorted us with a property in record time and has been supporting us along the way, even after signing, helping facilitate furnishings, sending along extra documentation as requested, etc. If you’re looking in this area, I absolutely recommend that you request Yasmin.

Each of the properties that she showed us were unique, beautiful, and most importantly, within our budget and had all of the specifications we were looking for. We had been looking for a good 2 bed property with a garden and had a list of must-haves. Lolly Hamlin from Notting hill branch, took down our needs and helped us view a few properties which were very close to our requirements and budget. We finally settled for a place which was unfurnished and slightly over our budget but we are satisfied. Apart from being proactive she is also a good negotiator and could help both parties come to a settlement. I would say that she tries to go out of way and help her clients in everyway she can which is something we have really appreciated.

Dexters Notting Hill was incredibly helpful in finding us our current flat, Victoria Codd has been our property manager during our tenancy. Vicky is always quick to get back to us, liase with the landlord, and resolve problems which is much appreciated. Vicky is also very professional and great at what she does. I moved into a new flat just over a month ago and there were a few things that needed to be taken care of, such as replacing an old mattress in one of the rooms and fixing issues with the electrics and the shower thermostat. Annabel - the property manager - reached out to us to assess the situation and she then talked to the landlord and the contractors. To my surprise, the contractors came shortly after and everything was sorted in a couple of weeks. Thank you, Annabel!

I had a couple of viewings with Maddie and I must say she was excellent. Not only during the actual showings, but in the days following. She would frequently call, offering valuable insight and guidance through the process of finding the right property. Over the course of a couple of weeks we spoke regularly without it ever feeling overbearing, and she’s certainly someone who takes a lot of pride in doing her job, whilst making sure her clients feel informed and most importantly supported. I’d certainly recommend her in the future.

Ask for Annabel! This review is long over due but if anyone is looking for a trustworthy renting/letting agency then try Dexters. It's hard enough finding housing in London and especially as a foreign student (American) but this is the only company where the staff were straightforward and no-nonsense like. From the very start Annabel has listened to me and boyfriends concerns/questions about our flat and was more than happy to find a solution. She's patient, courteous and very informative! You will not be disappointed- just remember that as a prospective tenant, you have to do your part too and be respectful towards the agents.

I had spent weeks using various Estate Agents to find an apartment and I was so happy when I met Maddie from Dexters in Notting Hill. She actually took the time to really listen to what i wanted and was very keen to help me find exactly what I needed, rather than pushing a lot of properties on me that didn't match what i was looking for. She was also very accommodating with showing me apartments late after work, which is a rarity these days!! She was super efficient and always quick to respond. It was great that once the contract was signed, Maddie remained in touch, she really helped me with all sorts and even let me into the apartment early to take measurements etc, she has been extremely accommodating and has made what can be a very stressful process... good fun and smooth! He is easy to get hold of, polite, and has acted quickly with any problems, stepping-in when necessary. He’s also been helpful with the process of securing my next tenancy.
