Frustrated with this agent. They wouldn't let me see the property on studley road. I had a booking but they moved the time without informing me. There was apparently high demand and they wanted everyone to see it in the same hour. I've just seen they've knocked 50k off the asking price. But no follow up to let me see it. If you let people see the property, you might be able to sell it. Stop with the transparent high pressure get everyone through the door in the same hour to encourage a bidding war tactics, price things correctly, treat people right and you'll attract good buyers. I was dealing with Tavi.

I had a really positive experience with Precious at Bairstow Eves Sales and Letting Agents in Stratford while arranging the letting of Cemetery Road. From the very beginning, Precious was professional, approachable, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. Stay well away. I would strongly recommend going with alternatives like Purplebricks if you’re looking for better value and more control. My experience with Bairstow Eves Stratford was extremely disappointing. Initially, their property manager came across very convincing, gave a high valuation to win the instruction and spoke a lot about their “old school”, customer-first approach. However, once I was signed up, it was almost impossible to get hold of him again. Viewings were handled by staff who had clearly never seen the property before. There was no effort to highlight key features or actually sell the property, to the point where I was eventually advised to conduct viewings myself, which defeats the purpose of using an agent. Within just a couple of weeks of overvaluing the property, they began pushing for price reductions, creating unnecessary pressure by suggesting the property was “sitting too long” on the market. The negotiator I dealt with was the worst part of the experience. Rather than acting in my best interest, he repeatedly tried to pressure me into accepting a low offer and became visibly frustrated when I refused. It reached a point where I declined to deal with him altogether. The sales progression process was equally poor. While I avoided using their recommended solicitors, my buyer did not, and it caused major delays. The solicitor went silent for weeks at a time, turning what should have been an 8, 12 week process into a 6-month ordeal. Throughout this, the agent claimed to be in contact, which did not reflect reality. After doing my own digging, I discovered the solicitor was based overseas and appeared to lack a clear understanding of the case based on the queries being raised. In the end, I had to go directly to the buyer (despite being advised not to), which is when the issue finally came to light. The transaction only progressed after the buyer escalated matters with their solicitor. Overall, this was an extremely stressful and frustrating experience during what should have been an important milestone. I would not recommend using this branch.

I have made multiple phone calls and sent several emails, but I have not received any proper or clear response. The process has been unnecessarily dragged out, whereas other estate agencies typically return deposits within 14 days. This has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience.

Poor quality viewings and service

The Clapham branch sales negotiator was late for the viewing and didn’t ask anyone from the office to notify us (15 minutes late). He had also double booked the appointment, the entire booking was a bit of a disorganised mess. There was a fair bit he wasn’t aware of and generally wasn’t that helpful. The specifications I gave weren’t followed in the viewings. I was ignored when asked if I wanted a broker and my contact information was shared when I had asked for it not to.

Absolutely disgusting service

Absolutely disgusting service, they come across very professional when they value the house, but once its on the market the staff are unhelpful and take days to answer emails. The details were incorrect online as it was put live without us agreeing the details, the pictures were awful and the one thing we did make them change. There has been no effort to sell the house, only having one viewer in two months. Only to find out that the contract is for 4 months too, devastated. Stay away from this company.

My experience with Countrywide and Bairstow Eve Stratford has been nothing short of a nightmare. After renting a shared accommodation at 19 Dacre Road, I was misled by a video viewing that conveniently concealed the property's numerous flaws. Upon moving in, I was met with a broken bed and various hazards that made living there uncomfortable and unsafe. Despite my repeated complaints, the management ignored my concerns, leaving me feeling helpless. To make matters worse, I later discovered that the house was being marketed for sale, which explained their lack of attention to tenant issues. In November 2024, I, along with other tenants, received a termination of contract notice, which was both shocking and disheartening. The situation escalated when they attempted to dispute my deposit, completely disregarding the documentation I had collected regarding the property's condition at the time of my move-in. This blatant attempt to withhold my funds only added insult to injury, as it became clear that they were trying to evade responsibility for their negligence. Faced with these injustices, I decided to take legal action against them. I have now filed a lawsuit, and the court has issued a letter requiring them to respond to my claim. This step has been necessary to hold them accountable for their actions and to seek justice for the distress they have caused. I hope that my experience serves as a warning to others considering renting from Countrywide and Bairstow Eve Stratford.
