GoogleI rented a flat via Hunters for three years and couldn’t speak more highly of my experience. Besides being highly communicative and supremely helpful throughout the tenancy, any issues with regards to maintenance were dealt with immediately by decent and friendly contractors. It was always possible to get through to someone at the office straight away. Sarah Varley in particular has been a joy to deal with and I have appreciated her honesty and the genuine care she showed us throughout our tenancy. Great service and lovely people.

Trustpilotlettings fees are very high
For lettings their fees are very expensive. First 3 months of my 450 rent studio flat they took and I did not get anything. When tenant leaves another month will be gone as inventory check is 180 and cleaning in 250 and this is for a studio flat. If i want to cancel the contract i have to pay 900. Stay away.

GoogleThe people at this branch are so lovely and helpful, not only did they help me in terms of my journey but their local knowledge also meant that my move was quite well-informed because I was able to navigate the local area really well. Forest Hill is quite unique in London in that the local ethos is for it to be a town-esque area. As such, it's quite different from other areas in London where there are similarities. As such, having the guidance and support of the folks at this branch really supported me not only in my property-move but also for someone becoming a part of the local community.PositiveQuality, Value

Thanks so much for your comments Taimour. We feel very engaged with the local community now. We support a number of schools and help our local younger generation through apprenticeships. I’m very pleased you felt that sense of integration within the community. Thanks so much once again for your comments 👍 …

GoogleHunters are a great local agency with a sincere commitment to supporting the local community they serve. I have asked them for valuations in the past and they have been incredibly knowledgeable, honest and helpful in their advice (we've decided we're not moving though - Forest Hill is awesome). Since 2018 they have been supporting my children's primary school, Perrymount, a lovely little one-form entry in the heart of Forest Hill. Their sponsorship of our summer and Christmas fairs and generous donations of raffle prizes have made a huge difference and helped us raise extra funds for new books, playground equipment and classroom resources.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Thanks so much for your kind words. We enjoy helping customers across South East London with their property needs however we especially enjoy hearing how our support helps Perrymount school. We are keen to support the younger generations. We really hope to win the battle against the pandemic and continue offering Perrymount our support for many years to come.

GoogleHaving bought and sold through Hunters Forest Hill I can't recommend them enough. Dave was the most realistic estate agent we approached regarding valuation of our property, talked us through the process of the sale etc and gave us regular updates as to how the market environment would impact our chances of sale.
Once viewings started to come in, Sarah and Joseph were fantastic at keeping us appraised of how the viewings went and whether it was realistic to expect an offer.
Throughout the process, Dave and the team were a pleasure to deal with.PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

Thank you once again Matt. It’s super rewarding to have sold to the property to you a few years ago and then successfully sell it for you recently. That’s and extremely rewarding journey for us and we thank you for being such a pleasure to represent in these transactions. We wish you all the best.

TrustpilotI have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton!
I have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton branch! From the very first phone call right up to exchanging contacts They have been beyond brilliant. I absolutely loved the pictures of my house and the write up most definitely did my house justice. My house sold within 4 days and I was over the moon with the price!Nicole was the shining star for me- she kept in daily contact and was the most reassuring and helpful person every single step of the process. She chased up people when they needed it ensuring the sale moved along at pace. Thank you so much Hunters but especially a massive thank you to Nicole- you have been amazingly!

TrustpilotDisappointed is an understatement..
To say we’re disappointed with the level of communication from the Horncastle Branch with Michael and Susan Noonan is an understatement and the level of service is a far cry from Michael's commitment to customer experience.Researching this branch shows multi-occasions that this activity has happened here.If you’re viewing a property with the intent to buy, don’t expect them to tell you if any other parties are interested. They’ll just pull it from under your feet along with any visions or excitement of a future you had in said house.Viewed a property two weeks ago, following the viewing we had a really positive conversation with Susan in the office expressing great interest, no more than a week later sold to another buyer with no communication. It would have been professional and courteous to reach out to the buyer but more so to the seller, as I’m certain they would like to have known of other interest. Susan and Michael took away any opportunity or chance to put in any offers, resulting in many wasted hours.I wouldn’t usually leave a review; but the tone in which Susan delivered the news was blunt, lacked any sort of empathy and very closed, to date I am still waiting for a reply to my email which I can only assume has been ignored. We will steer clear of this company for future sales and purchases, knowing that their priority doesn’t appear to be with either buyer or seller.Happy to receive a call or email to discuss our experience with you.

TrustpilotHunters are not interested
Hunters let the house adjacent to ours. There have been multiple pipe leaks around the bathroom causing flooding which in turn is causing damp smells on our side due to the length of time taken to address the issues. It's been repaired after four weeks now within hours water is currently coming through the ceiling next door soaking our party wall and they have told the tennant it's livable no problem.

TrustpilotFeeling sorry for vendors hoping to sell their property
Mid of August I telephoned Hunters Sunderland to view a property, giving them all requested details - a little while later they sent an email asking which property I meant (I had told them but if they wanted to clarify: why didn't they ask this when I phoned?).

GoogleAs a landlord, entrusting my property to a letting agent was a significant decision, and I'm delighted to say that partnering with Sarah Varley and the team at Hunters has been one of the best choices I've made. Their professionalism, expertise, and dedication have truly exceeded my expectations.
Hunters demonstrated a thorough understanding of the local rental market and worked tirelessly to find reliable tenants for my property. They took the time to understand my requirements and preferences, ensuring that the tenant selection process aligned with my expectations.
Throughout the tenancy period, Sarah provided excellent ongoing support, promptly addressing any maintenance issues and ensuring that my property was well-maintained. Their regular inspections and thorough communication gave me peace of mind, knowing that my investment was in safe hands whilst I was living in Australia and managing the property from overseas.
I was so pleased with their services I decided to use Hunters when it came time to sell the property. The sale process was also seamless, and Sarah Myford was a pleasure to deal with always giving honest and no nonsense advice throughout the process. Sarah found me a buyer within weeks of the listing.
In summary, I cannot recommend Hunters highly enough to fellow landlords in search of a trustworthy agent. Their exceptional service, attention to detail, and dedication to customer satisfaction make them stand out in the industry!

TrustpilotAwful
Awful. Incredibly disorganised. Would establish inspections and never turn up, would constantly email about overdue rent that wasn't overdue. Would pass the blame constantly. Attempted to raise my rent by a "reasonable" £200 a month six months into my tenancy which can only happen every 12 months and cannot be more than the CPI price index; they failed on both counts. Renting is honestly awful, and these clowns pray upon the anxiety of insecurity to get what they want.I have bought a house now, I wish all renters the luck to buy their own homes one day so we never have to deal with letting agents like these ever again.

GooglePLEASE READ IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO BUY/RENT FROM THIS AGENCY: Do not.
Firstly, I have never been a person to write such a terrible review, I worked in customer service for the first 7 years of my career, but this is beyond anything I've ever experienced.
We have had the absolute worst experience with this agency and specifically Sarah Varley. From the beginning of the process to the very end it was littered with poor management, lack of communication and disrespect. The communication was as you would expect at the beginning, however as soon as we put our offer in and sent the money the service became increasingly worse.
To keep this short I will list the most difficult aspects of our process with them:
- Agreed to a move in date, we made arrangements with our landlords (we were all living separately), only to find out 2 weeks before move in date that it has been postponed 1 week. This ended up costing us upwards of 1k with last-minute accommodation costs and movers.
- Hardly any communication from agency once we had sent the money for the deposit and 1st month's rent (roughly £5k). Insisted on receiving the funds before we had even seen a draft of the tenancy agreement. Refused to sign the agreement before funds were transferred. Sent the agreement to sign 2 days before move in date, realistically no time to have it legally reviewed.
- Kept blaming the landlords for their shortcomings however upon personally meeting the landlords, we learned the landlords were facing the same issues with us - no clear communication from the agency and agency was actually blaming us for their mistakes and making us seem difficult to the landlords.
- Flat was filthy upon moving in: no professional clean, bug infestations, mould colonies behind furniture and between balcony doors. Agency had the cheek to request a professional clean upon moving out.
- No mention of the property going up for sale prior to us signing the tenancy agreement.
- Found the flat up for sale by the same agents 2 months after moving in, no communication about this from the agency for the next 2 months. Left us with a 2 month notice to find another flat.
- Continuously bombarded us with viewing appointments for potential buyers, so much so that we had to limit them to 1 weekend per month.
- Upon moving out we still cleaned the entire flat to a high standard, ensuring it was left cleaner than found. Agency then tried to charge us £120 for "dusty skirting boards and bathroom window sill".
- Were unable to get in touch with landlords for over 3 weeks, delaying the return of our deposit. We were ready to take legal action but thought "let's try to get in touch with them ourselves". Though we couldn't reach the landlord, we reached out to their son who was able to get the answers, approvals and our deposit back to us in not even 24 hours. How can the agency not have a second contact like a next of kin, is beyond me. Please note, we didn't even have the son's number, we literally found him on Facebook in 5 minutes.
- Any kind of chasing, enquiring or trying to push for an urgent response was always met with a defensive. When we had sent nearly 5k before we had signed the agreement, after a few weeks, I called and explained that if we don't receive at the least the draft to the tenancy agreement and a clear move in date, then I will be forced to seek legal help. Sarah Varley then accused me of being verbally abusive and cried to my partner about it when he called to enquire about the same thing the next day.
Other than this, you will find yourself lucky to find Sarah in the office as she is on holiday most of the time, and as she is also the PARTNER of the branch, there is no one of her seniority that can cover. Hunter's also lease their name out to all these unofficial branches, so you will have no luck trying to contact HQ or submit a complaint.
Even if the flat is super nice, is it worth getting gray hairs over it? Because you will.

I was really impressed with the valuer's sales pitch and genuinely believed they would be the best firm to sell my home. The fact they had a relationship with Ryan property law also played a part, although that turned out to be a disaster, but that's a review for another day.

TrustpilotSales progression team lied and not very professional.
We are in the process of buying a bungalow at the moment and the sales progression team told us the vendor had been to sort the electrics and service the boiler..previous tennants had apparently got in debt so electric was cut off..Hunters lied saying this would be sorted. A second viewing 2 weeks later and a wasted 120 mile journey confirmed nothing had been sorted. When we told them we were disappointed with them we were told to leave the property.

TrustpilotI would completely recommend avoiding…
I would completely recommend avoiding this agency, they are slow to respond, have no information ready at hand and this has possibly been the most annoying process of purchasing a property with them. There was a lot of missing information that I was not provided and they basically only know how to respond when they need something. You will call them and they say they'll get back to you and just disappear. Avoid if possible.

TrustpilotDamaged our house, and we're not even their clients!
Hunters hung a "for sale" sign on our property, which was a surprise to us, since we were neither selling nor letting the property. When asked to take it down, four visible holes have been left in the wall of our home. It has been six and a half weeks, and the holes are still there. In a couple of weeks, we're going to need to escalate this to the ombudsman.

GoogleWe recently completed a very challenging sale and cannot thank Hunters and their team enough for the incredible effort they put in throughout the process. The amount of work behind the scenes to keep everything on track was immense, and their persistence truly made the difference. What stood out most was the additional support they provided by sharing insights and promoting through social media, which was invaluable during such a difficult market. Their commitment to quality and personal service really shone through and gave us confidence every step of the way.
On a personal note, we are very grateful to have been introduced to Hunters which was an extremely difficult time for us. Their professionalism and genuine care made the experience much easier, and we honestly appreciate everything they did.

GoogleFrom the moment Dave came and saw my place everything he assured me of and promised came true. He's no typical estate agent and certainly no Walter Mitty. Then came Joseph who was my main point of contact and conducted all my viewings. In my opinion Joseph Lazaroo is one of the best parts of Hunters at Forest Hill. He kept me calm and well informed all throughout the initial months of the Lockdown and when my original buyer pulled out was able to find me another within a matter of days. I was able to contact or email Joseph and the team day and night which was lovely. I was a bit overwhelemed at first but it really did all come together and now I have actually moved I would fully recommend Joseph, Dave and the team at Hunters, they are fantastic.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Thank you Gary. You had a testing time with your sale. I recall it was ongoing for several months before you asked us to step in and assist. It was great that we were able to use another branch in the Hunters network outside London to help but in the end it was our team work (Hunters efforts and yours) that made your move a success. It’s a great story to look back on. For all those people reading this review, Gary’s journey is a great example of both the estate agent and client working together to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome. No matter the obstacles the UK sales market throws at you and how much time it takes to overcome them, we will succeed with joint perseverance and commitment from us and our clients. For years we have been saying the best results come when we work closely with our clients and we don’t believe that will ever change. Congrats Gary. We wish you all the best and you’ll always be memorable part in our journey.

GoogleWe used Hunters to sell our flat in Forest Hill and could not have asked for a better service or support throughout this stressful process. From valuing the flat, to providing feedback on how to make it more attractive, to providing advise in terms of offers and negotiating with buyers, we always felt like we are in very good hands. We find we build close relationships with our buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords, therefore seeing the final outcome achieved is an especially enjoyable part of our job. Joseph and the rest of the team have many years experience so their advice is valuable and all the office staff are qualified with either NAEA or ARLA (if not both) which makes a substantial difference to the level of professionalism and knowledge we offer. TrustpilotAgent Harj was full of fake promises
Agent Harj was full of fake promises. Although he was all smiles and seemed friendly, the minute we left after our viewing he didn’t return texts or calls and shyed away from any contact. After several calls to the agents I finally managed to find out myself that the property had been given to someone else, rather than them calling me to inform me I had to dig this information out of them which was frustrating. I have been trying to contact them for 4 months in regards to my flat and contract but they are absolutely appalling at responses and making things clear and helpful for those they are letting to. They have sent me in so many different directions on who to contact and have stopped responding to me within one week of me first contacting them. On top of this it took them weeks to respond and report to maintenance issues, and when they did the response I got was rude and abrupt. As well as that they issues weren't resolved fully resulting in me feeling uneasy in what was meant to be my own space. Absolutely awful service and wouldn't even consider letting/renting from them again.
