GoogleWe had a terrible experience renting via Ashton Burkinshaw. They continue to work with a landlord who refuses to carry out repairs in a house with extensive damp, mould and leaks. These issues were known to them prior to us moving in (confirmed by previous tenants) and after we moved out, the house was rented out straight away in the same condition (as check out report confirmed).
Whilst the agency is responsive, the issue is that they willingly continue to work with an unreliable, negligent landlord who has no intention of approving any works to go ahead. They claim they’re an innocent bystander inbetween landlord and tenant which is just not true - they can choose who they do and don’t do business with.
From our experience it’s clear they prioritise landlords and profit over providing decent standard homes for tenants. I’d urge renters to be wary of this before proceeding with a let through this agency - you may save yourself a big headache.
EDIT: to reply to ‘This being said, the local team does want me to advise that the landlord has undertaken substantial work on the property between tenancies, as would be evidence when comparing the check out and check in report’ - that is simply not true and Countrywide have confirmed this in writing as well as the pictures on the check out report.
