As a landlord, I can reassure readers that this company is utterly appalling. Where do I start? First we were bullied by one of the male staff members for keys to our house, despite the fact that the tenants weren't moving in for two months and we also had to clean the house and carry out serious maintenance after the old tenants - not placed by this lot - had left. But he shouted at me, after shouting at my mum, and eventually hung up when I told him he was being unreasonable. From this point on it got worse. They moved in tenants who failed to put the bills into their names and ran off without paying the water bills. They failed to tell us - when we asked - if the tenants had put the bill in their name or not and didn't even reply. Yet two months later they decided to send the water company a copy of our tenancy agreement without our knowledge or permission, with the end result that we've been chased for the water bill for these tenants. The tenants decided to break a brand new washing machine due to negligence and when confronted with a £35 repair charge, decided to make up a whole host of false complaints, repeatedly calling our workmen out for non existent problems. Lastly the agent totally failed to respond to our deposit deductions email and as a result we received none of the deductions required, plus their checkout report missed all the damages the tenants had made including broken shower screens. They NEVER RESPOND TO COMPLAINT EMAILS. I mean, if you want to play at being an agent then take lessons from these people. Otherwise, I strongly advise landlords, especially elderly and/or vulnerable women, to steer clear.

At the beginning of the process, the agent Shannon was very responsive, once we verbally agree to rent the house were asked for an £80 “holding fee” each. We both paid then waited for the next step. We filled out an application and moved on to finding out when we’ll receive a contract to sign. Then we were asked for pay £400 deposit each before signing a contract, leaving us feeling very uncomfortable as there was no legal way for the money to be traced back to us. We voiced are concerns and the deposit was lowered to £325 each (£650 altogether). However without signing a contract FIRST we as students did not feel uncomfortable paying a large some of money that was untraceable. Therefore for that reason we dropped out of the agreement and asked for our £80 “holding fee” to be refunded. After sending an email to Shannon on the 20th December 2021 saying we pulled out of the contract and would like our refund we still had not got a reply 3 weeks later. Therefore we phoned the agency and were told that the “holding fee” is non refundable as the £80 was supposed to come out of the first months rent. However they claim “our reason is not valid” as it was not the agency or the landlord fault. This is unprofessional at best, but as students we feel exploited. We are still waiting for a response regarding our refund. This shows if you are a student make sure agreements are in writing BEFORE PAYING ANY MONEY!! UPDATE: We got a response form Rebecca asking weather £400 the deposit was altered form what it states on the website that we used to what we were told by Shannon. It was and I sent the proof to Rebecca, once this was done the matter was resolved and we’re are getting are £80 “holding fee” refunded. Like I said before ALWAYS HAVE EVERYTHING IN WRITING, especially students. We would like to say thank you to Rebecca as she handle the matter professionally and apologies for there wrong doing.NegativeValue

We have used Keywest as a letting agency for a number of years and they have found us a good reliable tennant. More recently however we put our house up for sale so we asked Keywest to manage this for us too. All the team were extremely helpful from the initial evaluation through to arranging viewings, managing the offers made and supporting us right through to the sale. In particular Preena has been fantastic. Preena was always on the ball with the process, arranging new viewings when prospect buyers were messing us around and generally being very helpful and proactive. Avoid at all costs After enquiring about a house viewing, Keywest booked in a viewing without even checking my availability. After I rang to cancel the viewing, that I could not attend, and emailed them my availability, they booked me in for the only day I hadn't listed as available. Not surprised at this level of incompetence from an estate agent with which not a single person I know has had anything close to a positive experience with, over multiple years and several properties. From continuous consecutive viewing cancellations, constant chasing for serious maintenance issues and even suspected tax fraud, I urge anyone who is looking to rent to avoid Keywest at all costs. They seriously are that bad.

Poor experience using these people as a tenant when you are leaving get a lawyer as you will need it to battle to get your deposit back as they are extremely fraudulent and even normal house wear and tear will be deducted from your deposit .Avoid and run away from them, they should honestly be arrested as they are running a terrible company aimed at exploiting innocent tenants. most of the positive reviews are from the landlords as a tenant avoid these guys.
