GoogleIf there was a zero star I would give that without thinking twice. I rented a property from bridgfords in June end and Hannah the manager in the location was in charge of the contract. The contract had couple of items missed out which I wanted to be corrected. She said she'll get it done but she wanted me to make the payment immediately on the phone. I said I'll make the payment in person next day but she said it has to be done immediately. I made the payment. 3 days later when I go to sign the contract the changes which I had asked for where not there in the contract. We were told to sign them anyways n amended contract will be done ASAP. After that I've sent 10 emails n 15 phone calls n this has not been done till now. Worst experience ever.
Also to add the house was not cleaned before we moved it. We double checked with them before getting the keys. They said it's cleaned but it wasn't. They're only interested in getting the money pocketed. Service is zero. I'm sure they'll make a big fuzz with my deposit when I'm vacating the house. Would never rent a property with them ever.

GoogleThe most shocking experience I've ever had with letting agents. I would give 0 if I could.
Moved from London to Leeds and booked to view several properties with them two weeks in advance. Tried to confirm the day before and had no response. On the day of viewings having travelled from London I was told that no one had informed the tenants of the viewings so I could not see any of the properties I had paid Β£132 train fare to come and see.
Despite this I stupidly later rented with them anyway. They didn't keep track of anything so on my move in day the previous tenant had over stayed and was still in the property! He had to be hastily kicked out as I had nowhere to go and had my things coming later that day. A number of issues with the property I reported were never dealt with and I had to call everyday to make sure someone came after my washing machine broke.
I've now moved out of the property a month ago, again despite me giving appropriate notice they forgot I was moving out and I had to contact them to tell them. I that time I have called every week requesting details of when I will get my deposit back and any disputes that need to be brought to my attention. They have failed to return any of my calls and are now saying there is a problem with the boiler but have failed to provide the photographic evidence I requested.
After reading some of the reviews here about deposits I'm now going to bypass them and go straight to disputes department with my deposit protection agency because this company is a total joke. If they were renting a palace for peanuts I would never deal with them again it's just not worth the stres and I will be filing a formal complaint.

GoogleMyself and my fiancee rented an apartment at clarence dock for 3 years through Bridgfords. I read a few questionable reviews on their service but chose to ignore them. I am glad I did. I can honestly say we did not have one problem with them, I had a few problems with the flat such as the boiler ( a new one was fitted within 2 days), fridge freezer (a new one was fitted within 2 days), flooring issues in the living room (brand new floor fitted) etc. every issue was resolved without a fuss. When it came to checking out we were given a helpful resume of what we needed to do etc, that was completed and was informed last week (4 days after leaving ) that our deposit was on its way back to us in full ! The staff including Nathaniel, Gabby,Rebecca and Emma have been extremely helpful and friendly. I would certainly recommend Bridgfords to family and friends.

GoogleLiterally the WORST letting agents I have ever had to deal with. Even worse than any of the crappy student accommodation letting agents. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Took us over 6 months to get our overpaid rent back, despite continually chasing them up. Zero customer service. They had to write up the contract three times because of miss-calculations of the amount to be paid (they overestimated and luckily I noticed). Property manager was useless. I would contact them regarding an issue we were having and it would either be ignored completely or I would get a response 2 weeks later. They will try and charge you for absolutely anything - more so than other letting agents. Saying that the experience was HORRENDOUS is an understatement. I promise you, they are not worth the hassle, money, or time.

GoogleRE Leeds Branch: Even if your dream house is listed through these idiots, avoid them at all costs. Β£300 rip off letting fee, zero responses to emails, no returned phone calls. Rude service. Absolutely shambolic how a brand and business can be run like this. I cannot stress enough how critical your avoidance should be. Do not bother yourself with their sheer uselessness. Dear Mrs Burgess, Thank you for your feedback but I am genuinely sorry to hear that you do not feel we handled your deposit return as quick as you had hoped for. I can see from the system we were in a position to return you deposit to you less that 3 weeks after you vacated the apartment. We have to ensure we have all parties full agreement when it comes to returning a deposit as the deposit is protected by MyDeposits, we must have all tenants and landlords written agreement and this can something take a while to obtain. I am happy to be able to confirm you should now have received your deposit back but if there is anything I can do to help or assist in the future please do not hesitate to contact me.

GoogleDisgusting service from start to finish. I moved into this property with multiple stains and areas of mould, asked specifically if I could be present for the check out inspection which I never got a reply, called countless times and they said that they could not do it at a suitable time, charged me for damage to the bed which is caused by an animal by which I have none, a fridge shelf which was already broken as in the inventory and cleaning although I spent 3 hours cleaning the property. The worst letting agent ever and I would not recommend this agent if my life depended on it.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear you are not happy with the service you have received from us. We would always give our tenants the option of attending the check out, in fact it is always preferable for a tenant to attend the check out as we can discuss our findings. When we attend your check out we bring with us the original inventory and check this against the property and this is how we determine what would need to be possible bond deductions. As you deposit is protecting we would never deduct anything from your deposit without your full and written agreement. I hope this clarifies things but of course feel free to contact me on 0113 2006355 if you would like to discuss anything further.

GoogleMy name will be known, and as a tenant- it shouldn't be for the wrong reasons. For those smart enough to check reviews of an estate agency before working with them, please read on...
Bridgford's are incapable, unprofessional, poor listeners, untrustworthy, slow, in many forms misleading (saying the property had free parking was one of the many many issues we have had). When we first strolled into this agency, we were shown the property to rent, lovely but needed a lot of cleaning and venting out. This was done to a reasonable standard however... the customer service throughout the whole joining process was so very, very poor. We were initially set to deal with one staff member, only to be passed onto at least three others. I'm not rude enough to start naming you, but the headless chickens know who they are...
When trying to reach someone, you are promised a call back or an email. Nothing happens... you call again... nothing is dealt with... and again... and again...
They charge exceptionally high fees, to which you expect a very good level of service- but you don't get that. You get unprofessional emails, some in which aren't even full structured sentences, only full of gibberish.
I had hoped they would redeem themselves after pathetically discounting us a small fee back after delaying our move in because it took them 4 solid days to do some small painting and replacing of lightbulbs. This discount of two days rent took over TWO WEEKS to get back and it was pure hassling of them to send it.
AVOID.
P.S- I look forward to moving out eventually and of course, hearing of some ridiculous reason to hold a quarter of our deposit no doubt, in which will follow with a court proceeding.

GoogleAbsolutely awful experience renting through Bridgfords. Appalling customer service from day one when the flat was not clean when we moved in (although we had been charged for cleaning!) and it didn't get any better from there on. Absolute nightmare to get hold of anyone, refuse to admit responsibility for anything, no resolution to any problems ever reported. If you have any choice I would avoid these like the plague- I know estate agents have a bad reputation in general but I literally do not have a good word to say about this lot.

GoogleBasically just incompetent. Viewings and contracts get set up promptly then once they have your money they provide zero support. Flat had not been remotely cleaned when we moved in, still hair and mould all over the place. Also the most expensive agents fees of anyone i've seen.
I called at least 20 times over the course of my tenancy because of problems, almost everytime the one person who could deal with the problem was not available and everytime I was offered a call back which never materialised. Pipes flooded the kitchen and they didn't care at all.
When we checked out they charged us Β£40 to replace 3 light bulbs and Β£70 to hoover the place (we didn't have a hoover). Agreed to all this so that we would get our deposit back but no they couldn't get in touch with the landlord and therefore would not release the deposit to us even though they had inspected the property and we had agreed immediately to the charges they raised. Had to raise a dispute with the DPS and took 3 months to get our deposit back.
They control a lot of the decent properties in Leeds though so good luck avoiding them.

Dear Patrick, I am sorry to read your recent review regarding the experience you have had renting with us last year. We take all maintenance reported seriously, especially something such as flood and I can see we attended to this when it was reported to us. If you would like to chat through this is more detail I would be really happy to do so at anytime convenient to you. With regards to a deposit release we are unable to instruct DPS or MyDeposits to release a deposit without all parties written agreement, this is to protect all parties and to ensure nothing is deducted from a deposit without full consent. The advice we would give if we cannot get agreement from all parties is to raise a formal dispute with the appropriate deposit scheme. Please feel free to contact me on 01132006355 if you wish to discuss anything further, I am always happy to hear from a tenant.

GoogleAsked for essential maintenance doing on the property at the start of May and still waiting to have it carried out even now. Been in the property 2 and a half years and they couldn't care less. Their property managers are useless and we are having to resort to stopping paying our rent after seeking out legal advice.
I called yesterday to tell them that I would be withholding my rent payments and the property manager promised to email with the date a contractor would come and do the work confirmed by the landlord. This never arrived. I have also asked 3 times what the intended works are. Avoid Bridgfords at all costs, if you go into their office in Leeds you can see they are staffed by young incompetent people.

GoogleVery poor service all round, cancelled the first viewing of the property while we were waiting outside for them, should have taken that as a sign of things to come.
Was advised on viewing that several issues with the property would be fixed before moving in, none of which were even communicated to the landlord or fixed.
Went through with the let and on the day of the move-in the check-in was moved back twice. Went to the office to check-in and noticed the inventory stated mold in bedrooms, bathrooms etc. Was assured the property had been cleaned, this was not the case, significant mold in both bathrooms and bedrooms.
Was told the incorrect parking space not once but twice! The second time a car was in the space and the member of staff's suggestion for resolving the issue was 'leave a note on the windshield'! Spoke to the owner the next day who advised of the correct space, nice work Bridgfords!
One of the basic functions of a letting agent is providing a full set of keys, unfortunately this is a bit beyond Bridgfords so please do not expect access to your post box when you move in.
Given the exorbitant fees they charge (Β£600) you would expect a reasonable level of service, unfortunately they rank as one of the worst letting agents I have ever used in 12 years of renting.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Edit following response, if significant mold and dust is clean then I dread to think what your house looks like. Disgusting and a health hazard, I have the photos if you would like proof of how appalling your standards are?
Re the maintenance, the landlord confirmed you had not advised him of any of the issues and hadn't provided him with a copy of the inventory (which was only completed the day we moved in) so how could he make any repairs?!?!?!?!
Re the keys, he confirmed you lost the spare set and he had to get another set from the property managers!
The parking space farce speaks for itself.
Forgot to cover on my original review that one of the storage cupboards in the flat was packed to brim with crap the day we moved in, I have photos of the mountain of crap I had to sift through, nice work again.
You didn't respond re cancelling the viewing while we were outside or cancelling our move in time twice, I wonder why...
I'll state again for anyone thinking of using Bridgfords, avoid avoid avoid.

Dear Chris, thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear your move in didnβt go well and there was some confusion with keys and your parking space. I hope this is now resolved but if there is anything I can do to help then
of course I would be more than happy to do what I can. I can see from our system the landlord manages this property himself, this means the landlord would undertake any maintenance himself. I can see a clean was undertaken before you moved in as your landlord has asked us to have the property cleaned for your move in. Again with keys for the property, as we donβt manage this apartment, we will handover all keys given to us by the landlord.
I am sorry things didnβt run smoothly on your day of move in and as I have already said if there is anything I can do to help then please let me know. My contact number is 0113 200 6350 or my email is hannah.postlethwaite@bridgfords.co.uk

GoogleAppalling, simply terrible, terrible, terrible. Rented the same flat for 7.5 years from them, no issues. Then having left the flat in exactly the same (clean and undamaged) state I moved into, the charges arrived.
I was told I was being billed over Β£90 for the required cleaning to bring it up to scratch. I requested an invoice and a brief description of what was required, not unreasonable. I was told the cleaning was done, and the charge couldn't be removed, but was provided with none of the evidence I requested.
Then I was told there was missing parts on the vacuum cleaner, I had my own and had never used it. I was told that the charge for this was Β£25. The vacuum cleaner currently retails at Β£20 for a new one. As I said earlier I was in the flat for 7.5 years and it wasn't new at the time, so I'm being charged more than commercial value for ancient vacuum parts.
I put up with stained curtains for the many years I resided there, it was in the original inventory. Surprise surprise, I've been told cleaning them will cost me Β£25.
Also, they wanted Β£10 for a broken zip on a cushion, they later offered to remove the Β£10 charge.
However, when I went to reclaim my deposit, rather than Β£10 off what they had said the charges would total, they'd actually added Β£10. They can't even decide what they want to charge me, which kind of feels like it's just being made up.
All my efforts to request invoices or evidence have been ignored, the property manager dealing with the flat doesn't reply to emails. More annoyingly, having re-requested my deposit, they have failed to respond to the Deposit Protection Scheme for a fortnight now. My deposit is in limbo, at this stage I can't even get the non-disputed amount back. It feels like they are just playing a game of attrition, hoping I'll just accept the charges.
A formal letter of complaint is heading their way, so then I can go to their ombudsman to try and seek a resolution, because I doubt I'll get any response from them.
Seriously, don't use them, even if you think you'll be ok because of the Deposit Protection Scheme, they'll try anything to take as much of your deposit as they can.

TrustpilotConfusing marketing
There's a For Sale sign been up on a house we've passed a few times over the past 2 weeks but can't find it on their website or Rightmove. I rang one of the branches to be told, indignantly, I'd rang the wrong office. I pointed out that there is no local office and as this one is relatively close by, I thought I'd try them. He said he had 'no idea' but he'd look. Terrible telephone manner, told him I'd look myself. Tried another office and was told it's not being marketed yet as the owner has been choosing the photos. Fair enough but I asked why the sign was up and was told because it's for sale. Very confusing. Sort yourselves out Bridgfords. Glad you aren't selling our house!

TrustpilotBridgford's Halifax
We used Bridgford's in Halifax to sell our property. My main concern with them was that they hardly ever answered the telephone and relied upon an answer machine. Add onto this the fact that on numerous occasions they didn't return our calls. They didn't manage to sell our property and we do wonder if prospective buyers calls weren't returned either.Secondly feedback from them on enquiries, market data and ongoing support and advice was non existent. Overall customer service was poor to say the least.

TrustpilotWell... AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE
Well, where do I start? I don't recommend this agency at all. All the agents are useless. Customer service, professionalism is lacking at Bridgfords. We rented a property back in 2022, that we had to leave because mould and MICE both h&s hazards weren't solved and reported to the council (with someone vulnerable in the property). The flat was very dirty when we move in and now they are trying to charge us for the cleaning. They painted the flat and now they are trying to get this from our deposit. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. we have tried our best to solve these issues, but they have no decency. They always try to blame the landlord but I don't even think the landlord is aware at this point. please look for another agency and make yourself a favour.
