Highly Recommend Crest Nicholson at Sketchley Gardens

From the first visit to the development Becky E has been amazing. She has supported us throughout the whole process. We have always felt like we can phone or call in at any time if we had any queries. This is our first home so the process is completely new to us and Becky has always had an answer to our questions. She is absolutely fantastic at her job and we cannot recommend her enough. She is a credit to Crest Nicholson. The developers have been transparent with us about the site, explaining everything to us, ensuring that we have all the information we need. We have had such a smooth process and feel confident buying a Crest Nicholson home!!

Don’t buy houses from these people

Don’t buy houses from these people, my list of outstanding snags is long, the site manager is incompetent and it seems both him and his boss have basically given up on doing any of our snags, this includes basic things like part of our shower screen being missing or part of our garage door being missing. Our garage I’m fairly certain isn’t up to standard as it’s letting moisture into the brickwork which saturates it.Sales were often hit or miss, building up to us putting our deposit down they were amazing, after that they were really difficult to get hold of because they kept changing offices and emails without telling anyone. However once we moved in they became amazing and were much better at getting things sorted than either of the people whose roles were to get things sorted. They’re now in the process of trying to hand resolving any snags in our house over to customer care despite our list of outstanding ones still being huge. The site manager has repeatedly cancelled on us or just ignored texts and then made excuses to try and save his own skin. He also happened to turn up out of the blue when his boss came round to check various issues, claiming he was there to see our dog (which he’d never done before) and then proceeded to make excuses for the shoddy work. This is at Kilnwood Vale in West Sussex for anyone considering buying from them.Update (24/04/2023): We had one person come round since this to do any work (a bricklayer), I had to email the Customer Relations Manager after to ask if they were done as I couldn’t see any clear evidence of things looking better, got told they were done and that the Customer Relations Manager would be round to check, he kept arranging dates/times with me and cancelling. He then told me a mastic person was coming round to fix the dodgy mastic work, they never turned up. We asked how we could escalate our issues as nothing seemed to be happening and got told we had to escalate through customer services (as this was the only way), I’ve tried emailing them twice with no response. My partner then went back to the Customer Relations Manager asking if there was any progress with our snags and he told us all our work had been handed over to Customer Services and we were to now go through them. This is despite the fact we still have more than half our snags from our initial list including water getting into the brickwork in our garage, warped doors and a scratched hob (done by the cleaners before we moved in) being a few of the major ones. We were also told all the way up until we purchased that we had the site team for 6 months so things would be fixed really quickly, this was a flat out lie and both the Site Manager and Customer Relations Manager actively tried to avoid us and others from our street in order to not do work. We’ve now gotten to the point where we’re seriously considering our options as it’s becoming more and more apparent that we’ll have to fix things ourselves in order to actually get our house up to the value it’s supposedly worth. Various bits lack any care and look like they were done by people who’d never done it before.

Poor Quality New home - Crest Nicholson !

I would not recommend buying from Crest Nicholson developers, without seeking views of recent home buyers, checking out the poor quality workmanship (because you cannot call it craftsmanship) and getting full snagging and quality surveys completed first. Very disappointing at a high price. Put your health and wellbeing first and stay well clear, unless you enjoy heartache, additional expenses, dismisive, and complacent communication, and plenty of heartbreak from wasting your well earned life savings. 😏

First experience of part-exchange

This was our first experience of buying a new home from a large builder, and also our first time doing a part-exchange. We were worried that it might be a minefield. We needn't have been, the whole business of purchase was problem free. Inevitably there have been one or two teething problems, but pre and post sales teams at the Claybourne development have been excellent, friendly, responsive, and extremely helpful.

Crest Nicholson have destroyed our village! They came in with a completely destructive attitude, cut down our beautiful hedgerows and 100 year old oak trees and have now buggered off! The talk is that Crest Nicholson have gone bust and that they won’t be coming back to our village to finish the job. We, the villagers, say GOOD!!! We don’t want you making more mess of our lovely countryside!

Swamp

From the moment we moved in, we encountered persistent drainage issues that have turned our garden into a swamp every time it rains. Despite attempts to reach out to Crest Nicholson for assistance, they have consistently brushed off our concerns and refused to take responsibility for their shoddy workmanship. To make matters worse, when we finally managed to get their attention, they had the audacity to blame the flooding on an alleged infestation of leatherjackets in our lawn. This excuse was not only absurd but also insulting, as it was clear to anyone with half a brain that the problem stemmed from the poor drainage system installed by them. It's appalling to see a company that prides itself on quality construction and customer satisfaction fail so miserably in both regards.I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a property from Crest Nicholson to think twice and proceed with caution. Their lack of accountability and disregard for their customers' well-being is truly disgraceful, and I, for one, will not be recommending them to anyone.

5 Star

So far our has experience with CN has been 5 star. We moved to the Warwick site and have had Diane as a 1-1 contact throughout the process. We were able to view the property multiple times before, during and after exchange to make sure it was perfect for us and our furniture. CN were kind to extend our limit to reserve after our snail paced solicitors continued to be unhelpful. We’ve been really impressed with the quality of the house compared to Orbit new builds and have only found a few easy fix snags, one of which when reported was fixed by the site manager within 10 mins. Really lovely clean site that’s been well laid out and all of the homes have nice green areas and gardens. Our home backs onto a main road but you cannot hear traffic due to sound buffers in place. Move in day was great and we were overwhelmed by gifts, vouchers and top up paint for marks on the walks from moving. We would recommended this site and the homes built.

Appalling service and management - Bristol

Unfortunately the service from Crest in the year I have lived in my apartment has been truly shocking. Not only are we encountering critically poor issues across our estate and extended building works again and again with no update, the customer service has also been appalling with rude staff not taking us seriously and actually accusing residents of lying about issues despite being given evidence.I dont understand how they can continue to operate as they do.

Amazing service

I’m only at the reservation process as yet however, I cannot fault the service I have received from Anita at the Nuneaton Sketchley Gardens site. Professional from the onset. Nothing has been too much hassle. Extremely patient with myself in making decisions. Really cares about the people who buy their homes and goes the extra mile to ensure you are ok at all times. Also met Mick the PM. Lovely person. Very helpful in making me look outside the box and has loads of options to enhance the house to accommodate extras I would like. Very knowledgable and experienced in his work. Knew exactly what he was doing - can’t fault either of them. Nothing has been too much trouble.

Appalling post sales customer service

We have recently bought a property from Crest Nicholson and have had a very bad experience with the after sales service. The flat had many issues which we reported immediately but have still not been resolved even after 3 months. We have been tossed across many point of contacts from customer services but still no resolution. Have sent numerous emails to follow up but still most issues are open affecting our dat to day living.

Climate change, what climate change?

Regrettably, Crest Nicholson's current practices in constructing properties raise significant concerns regarding their adherence to climate standards, despite their proclaimed commitment to combatting climate change. Upon questioning these discrepancies, the response received from the company has been dismissive, assuring prospective buyers that the standards will improve before completion. Moreover, there have been instances where potential purchasers have faced undue pressure, with threats to withdraw the sale if immediate exchange isn't initiated. It's crucial for potential buyers to exercise caution when considering purchasing a new property from Crest Nicholson, as there appears to be a notable lack of post-exchange care and support from the company. Additionally, there have been reported failures on their part to fulfill obligations regarding land transfers, even after all plots have been sold. This results in purchasers being denied rightful representation in the Residents Management Company (RMC), rendering them powerless in addressing property maintenance issues. In light of these concerning practices, it is advisable to approach transactions with Crest Nicholson with extreme caution and to thoroughly research alternative options before committing to a purchase.

Very impressive quality homes and finishings

We visited the Crest Nicholson office at Cringleford Heights and where we met Katrina the Sales Executive who gave us a very informative and professional presentation of the homes available along with all facilities and fittings. We were very impressed with standard of the homes we were shown in particular the attention to detail and came away with all the information we required to help with our decision making. I would highly recommend Crest Nicholson based on our initial and subsequent meetings, so helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Horrible experience!

Had a horrible time buying a house through Crest. Crest where very helpful and happy to help until you give them your money. Our initial snagging list was ignored and it literally took them 2 plus years to sort it out. After living in the house for 3 years we started to notice a damp patch. We suspected it was a leak so got a plumber to come around to investigate. He found that there wasn't a leak l, the issue was because Crest had installed our water pipes in the wall and plastered directly over over them. The water regulations say that you are supposed to have either a chase or duct on these pipes so they can be removed but they don't. They have also not been lagged so they condensate and as they have been directly plastered over this is making my walk damp and mouldy.I have repeatedly said that they have not followed regulations and literally quoted the regulations that they have ignored but they refuse to accept they have done anything wrong in fact they are insulting and rude.I really feel like I should report this on here so people can be weary before parting with Thier hard earned cash. Personally I would neither recommend them nor ever buy from them againUpdating on the 28/3/24 No one has tried to contact me to try and help me. They just say they are un able to assist me. I will be going to trading standards! One other thing I wanted to point out. Although their star rating is 4.1 out of 5 I just wanted to highlight that as of this date 26% of the customers have given a rating of 1 star. It doesn't look good that 26 people out of 100 have had a horrendous experience. My personal view is 1 star is too good!

Highly stressful and ongoing first home purchase

This is has been an extremely stressful experience buying from Crest. This issue is still ongoing, back in July 2022 we bought a flat in the nightingale fields development - Plot 192, Flat 6 and were told it would be built in December due to the help to buy scheme. It has been delayed to JULY this year! We bought it at the Arborfield Nightingale Field branch. We are first time buyers and all our life savings is tied up in the deposit therefore we cannot look for properties elsewhere. There has been little to no support/communication where we have to constantly chase for information. For example, we spoke on the phone with them asking when the property will be built they replied stating on track for December/January to then have 10 minutes later our financial advisor call through saying Crest has been touch to say it’s been delayed to March/April with no explanation. As said previously, it has been delayed AGAIN to July. This has been a total nightmare. What started out as something exciting has now completely transformed into something else. Our life savings are stuck with them, our mortgage is going to run out in June. We can’t even see where our money has gone. Completely unsupported and feel very disappointed. It has been a dire experience and now we are unsure if we can even afford the place because of the amount of time it has taken. We can’t afford to rent anywhere due to all our money now being tied up in the property and soon our home circumstances will change. Sadly a lot of uncertainty surrounding our first every property purchase considering Crest always claim to be “stress free”, in particularly for first time buyers.
