A huge thank you to Sue, Anita and the Dacres team! After looking at many houses with yourselves, you were insanely patient, listened to my wants, provided suggestions and as a result found me the dream property to suit my every need. Not only did they find me the property, but sold my old one too, making the process insanely easy and smooth. When everyone told me it could take weeks or months to sell, they found a buyer in a matter of days!! The support, guidance and reassurance they provided to me throughout the way, despite probably annoying them at times, made this possible, always with a smile! If you’re buying or selling a house in the Knaresborough and surrounding areas, you’d honestly have to be crazy not to use them!! Highly recommend, and a huge thank you again!!

This is the second time I have had dealings with Dacre Son & Hartley and I couldn’t have wished for a better transition of properties. I arranged 3 estimates for selling my property and all were of a similar cost for the selling package but I selected Dacre Son & Hartley after previous personal experience. After listing my property both Harriet and Anita visited the property to see what renovation works had been undertaken and to grasp the positives of the property for selling. The property sold within 1 day and although luck does play a part I firmly believe good marketing and excellent customer service plays a huge part. Following agreement being reached on the sale the after sales service between the purchaser and myself was faultless. Communication with solicitors was again not a problem and I was updated every step of the journey. I cannot speak more highly of Dacre Son & Hartley, Knaresborough and I would not hesitate to recommend them should you be selling a property in the area. Thank you

I hesitated to leave this review, but my experience with Dacre, Son & Hartley Knaresborough branch compels me to share. In the past two weeks, they delivered two unsolicited mailings to my home, boasting of a "Platinum Trusted Service Award." On 21st March 2025, I emailed the branch requesting a quote to sell my property. Receiving no reply, I called to follow up, and they confirmed receipt of my email, promising a response. None was provided. If they cannot manage basic communication with a potential client, I have little confidence in their service once you are a customer.

Whilst Dacres, Son & Hartley were in essence working for the vendor I found them extremely helpful from my very first phone call. They were kind, friendly and extremely approachable with any questions I had. At one point I thought my sale would not go through if the vendors didn't move out on a certain day as promised. I voiced my concerns to the agents and in less than an hour they called me back after speaking to their client and were happy to allay my fears. Nothing was too much trouble and I have no hesitation in recommending them. Should I ever need the services of an estate agent they would be my first call. Would highly recommend. Staff in at the West Park office (thanks Jen and Amie) were very professional, helpful and did exactly what was promised. Throughout the viewing process they kept us up to date, always had a named contact who was prompt to respond to questions. When it came to completing the sale - we had many issues agents in the chain and solicitors, however Jen and Amie chased up, kept us informed and I felt were always working in our best interests.

Sold house via Dacres, not a fast process from them, took ages to upload our home on different websites. Sara was the best, more helpful then anyone else there. We been advised the house will be available on different websites inc: Right move etc, on some websites the house not appeared. also been told we will get shoe cover (never got it). been told we potentially can get 200-215 for the house and once we received the first offer of 195 benn told to accept this as we won't get anything better. Not a great service. Not using Morley service again

Absolutely recommend the team at the Knaresborough branch of Dacre, Son & Hartley. Nick's local knowledge was obvious during his market appraisal, as was his understanding of his client base. Anita managed the "paperwork" involved in getting mum's bungalow on to the market. The bungalow attracted many viewings, all dealt with by the sales team, keeping me updated at all times. Unfortunately, the original purchaser dropped out but the team had several other interested parties lined up. We were fortunate to receive two further offers, one of course accepted and I trust the new owners are happy in their new home. Special mention to Harriet and Sue who were both involved in viewings and were very understanding of the emotions involved in selling mum's bungalow on her behalf. Thank you all for a very professional job and successful outcome.

A disappointing service

Such a disappointing service from Dacres. Getting to the point of having your home valued is a big thing, especially in the current climate. And having worked hard on making significant improvements to the house, the descriptions received by the valuer were unfair, mostly negative and insulting. There was a lot of talking and very little listening. Realistic and constructively critical comments are one thing, insults are another and there are ways in which you can support and guide a potential vendor without making them feel so uncomfortable and upset in the process. Sadly, this isn't an estate agent I would either recommend or use based on this. I am being generous with two stars. And a bit better response than “please give us a call to discuss” might have been helpful. E.g. who do I call? on what number?

From the day my house was put on sale I was impressed by the efficient and competent way the agent dealt with requests. All through the process of selling i was given support and considered information on what was happening. It was reassuring.. I was continually kept informed as to what was happening. After the house was sold and I was having to deal with solicitors with the exactly opposite motivational traits, the estate agent kept negotiating between their office and myself which offered me encouragement and progress information i would not have had.
