I contacted Abbotts Estate Agent in Downham Market to request a house evaluation following extensive modernisation work. My house was purchased through Abbotts almost 3 years ago. A young lady called Nicola arrived at the designated time and prior to conducting the valuation, she explained her role ti help understand what was going to happen. She also spoke about the house market and that in relation to this area. She was extremely thorough and her knowledge of the Norfolk area and market was extraordinarily mind-blowing and commensurate with what one would expect of a consummate professional. Following a tour of the property, and the measuring of all rooms, internal and external, Nicola then explained in full how the valuation works inline with the history of the property market in the area, alongside recent sales of similar properties based upon the pros and cons of features. We were left with a suggested asking price and what would be an achievable price for this property in this area. Nicola was very polite, courteous, respectful and extremely complimentary of our property. I not only recommend Abbotts as an outstanding Estate Agent, I intend to use them if and when we decided to move. One final point, which did surprise me in one respect, Nicola was very respectful of Abbotts’ competitors in the Downham Market area, I would normally experience some animosity toward competitors.

Both my wife and I were considering putting our house on the market. Our intention being to re-locate to Essex to be closer to our family. We had no idea what our house was worth and needed an indication for a budget. We contacted Abbotts requesting a valuation. Nicola Weeds contacted us and made an appointment to visit us. She duly appeared on time and spent over an hour with me looking around our property. She was extremely personable and professional in her approach. I was pleasantly surprised at her valuation, more so as I has a figure in mind and she advised I was well below a reasonable, achievable asking price. We discussed the next stage but due to my wife not being present and our property is in joint names, Nicola explained my wife would need to be present. Nicola came back the following afternoon and reiterated to my wife what she considered was an achievable asking price. She explained the way it would be marketed and the group system of other agents spread over the UK who could be called upon to assist us in finding a suitable property in Essex. Overall Nicole was most helpful and explained everything in detail. The fees involved and the use of solicitors for conveyancing. We chose to use Abbotts Home Conveyancing Service. Nicole has an exceptionally nice, friendly attitude. She clearly comes over as being, knowledgeable and enjoys her work. We very much look forward to her finding us a suitable buyer and to make a sale as trouble free as possible.

Absolutely shocking service. Never any communication. Constantly having to chase via phone and email to get answers, even though I am paying them roughly £100 pcm to ‘manage’ my property. Keep taking extra money from rent for extras when told twice that I don’t want any extras at all. Kerrie promised the most amazing service when I decided to go with abbots, after telling her the previous bad experience with lettings agents but she doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing at all, no one does! Still waiting for a response from early last week, have chased 4 times with no answer. Wouldn’t recommend Abbots at all - stay well clear.

Oliver and his team have been nothing short of amazing from the get-go of our home buying process. We are first time buyers so we were initially new to everything that it entailed, but Downham Market Abbots ensured that everything was thoroughly explained and handled throughout. Very knowledgeable and helpful. They prioritised sending the right person round rather than the number of people they sent round. Then, after we sold they were very helpful in the conveyancing process. They have a specific department for that who was able to explain things when I was unsure and to liaise with solicitors and the other agents. When problems arose they were key in resolving it and finding the right solution. While we worked mainly with Joanna from Thorpe Bay we also had a lot of help from Amy on the after sale. They have also continued to support us after the sale.

I can't truly rate the service because I've had none! I've tried for over a week to get some information on a property listed in their Stowemarket branch. I've left messages, I've emailed, I've used the chatbox, the contact form and made 4 phone calls, which no one answered or responds to the recorded messages I've left. I phoned a bigger branch who told me they would contact the branch and get them to call me....nothing. Not a peep. I started this a week ago, because I'm in Suffolk at the weekend and wanted to arrange a viewing. I've had to give up and make other plans. There is clearly something wrong with their communications dept. If they have one!?!

Started the process of looking for a first house purchase when living abroad in the US. Stephen Huff was really helpful and wasn’t phased by the additional issue of looking to complete when not even in the country! Circumstances changed and we were able to move back to the UK so put the search on hold, not an issue and despite not having paid Steve a penny, he was still happy to maintain our file and wait until we were in a position to buy again. A few months later, solid advice and we had an offer in on a house and a mortgage offer in hand but, unfortunately purchase fell through, again, no issue for Stephen and yet again he was helpful and patient while we continued the search. When we finally found the one we wanted we needed another mortgage offer - easily sourced by Stephen. Finally completed earlier this week and in no small part thanks to Stephen Huff and the team.
