Strutt and Parker under the leadership of James Gow gave us a fantastic personal service. The process of placing our house on the market and the stress involved was very much mitigated by the utterly professional service we received. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble and the updates from James, Rosie, Andy and the team via a whatsapp group were enormously reassuring.

This relates to the rentals service in Cambridge. We rented a house from Strutt & Parker for more than three years. They were never quick to deal with repairs and other issues, however we had a direct relationship with the owner which made life easier. When we moved out at the end of June 2024, we got the full benefit of Strutt & Parker's contempt for tenants, stunning slowness and incompetence. It took them nearly four months -- until 28 October 2024 -- to return the deposit. There was a litany of lame excuses about the time needed for estimates for some minor repairs. The reality was that it just wasn't a priority, they didn't care and they couldn't even work out which photographs attached to the contract corresponded to which actual rooms. If you rent property in Cambridge, beware this lot. Or at least be ready to suffer.

GoogleContacted Nicholas on their chat service twice, 02nd and 05th Mar 2026 to arrange a visit by one of their valuers. No one called back in response to either contact. I was surprised and disappointed and so sent an e-mail to Andrew Harwood on 06th Mar, their Residential Director in Sevenoaks to make him aware and ask someone to call me as matter or urgency. No call back as of 09th Mar. Shocking. Update - did eventually hear from an apologetic Andrew Harwood who came over personally to appraise our home.

Update - I was finally contacted by AndrewHarwood on Tuesday 12th. He was suitably apologetic and arranged to come to appraise our home personally on the 13th which he did in a very professional manner. On this basis, I have upgraded my review from 1 star to 4. I thought carefully about writing this review as normally I wouldn't take the time to do such a thing. But I really thought that this S&P office in St Albans were very unprofessional and lacked any customer service. However, I must say there was a Secretary who I spoke to who was lovely. Just to give some context, I responded to an ad for a 2 bed property. I received no response therefore emailed the agent directly. Again, no response. So i emailed again. Finally after 4 days, the agent called. I am a nurse so they left a message asking me to contact them. I'm a nurse so was unable to call until that evening, so I text the agent asking to view. Again, no response. I text 3 times that day, no response. I called around 5.30 that evening and left a voicemail. The next day, I again received no response to which I text again stating i'd email, text, and called and no response so was there someone else I should speak with. At this point the agent called me back early that afternoon. We arrange to view the property on Monday. When I attended, the usual show around was done and I advised I'd be putting in an offer. I advised, I needed to move quickly, and would appreciate him letting me know asap. He said as soon as he got in his car he would email me the details. This was mid-afternoon. It was only later in the evening that I received the email asking three things - offer, job title, who'd be living there, and moving date. Which I completed immediately. To this day - I never received an acknowledgement of that email or a response. In fact, despite sending him again a couple of further emails asking him to response he did not. We led to me contacting the office, then a colleague 3 days later. She advised me that the landlord had accepted another offer, which was now going through referencing. She said that she would speak to the said graduate agent. Following this, you'd of thought you'd have received and apology from him BUT nothing.Whilst I appreciate people are busy, but given the current situation in the world, how difficult it is moving home customer service and kindness is key. If you cannot provide a good service to the number of people you invite in, invite less and instead do a good job.
