I went to see these guys today to try and retrieve some old documents that iv misplaced as they were the agents that sold our house for us a few years ago. I have to say I was so impressed by John and Harry,they remembered me my family,the lawyer and even the house details and this after 6years. After sitting and discussing some finer details with them about this and other properties,they kindly advised me on several aspects of property,markets and regulations and went out of their way to help guide me in the right directions for my lawyer to follow up on.. I have to honestly say they lifted some weight off my shoulders and was really glad i went in to see them,these guys do know their business well and i honestly was not expecting that constructive advise and personal touch,they really did help open my eyes to a several avenues to explore. Thanks to them its worked out to be a good day.

MAY BE A MANAGEMENT DISASTER We all have problems in life. We don’t always get it right all the time but we can at least try. However sometimes you come across a ‘professional’ who makes the most accident prone and foolhardy of us look sensible We are the long leaseholders in a block of flats in Chelsea. We have the agents, May and Co as our managing agents who advertise in specialising in block management. Well... if our experience is anything to go by, if Mr John Yainni of May and Co is professional, God help those managed by amateurs! It appears when looking at the reviews on May and Co we are not alone in this view. It all started when we had reason to question the management accounts as there appears to be significant discrepancies BUT since we had the temerity to challenge the figures we have had nothing but blocking tactics and silence. That alone makes the inbuilt warning bells ring! Following a complete breakdown in communications [and believe me we have tried to resolve this] we have tried to rid ourselves of this shambles of an agency but have found it virtually impossible. May and Co say they have a contract with us but refuse to provide a copy and despite not being wanted, will not resign. We have told him to take what he is owed and resign to no avail....Why you have to ask yourself? He is a member of the National Association of Estate Agents and has to have a formal complaints procedure. He refuses, if he has one, to provide it. Indeed he refuses to communicate at all. We have complained to the Ombudsman but that takes forever and in the meantime he has a not inconsiderable sum of our money [or at least we hope he still has!] We are trying to self manage without any information being provided as they refuse to provide any information and the whole sorry saga continues. There are lessons for all of you reading this who occupy a shared block being 1. Check your accounts carefully as we have no doubt we were being double charged for items 2. Make sure you have a copy of your contract with your agent 3. Make sure you have a truly professional managing agent as when things go wrong, as they often do ,you need to be able to communicate 4. Don’t trust anything you are told by your agent without proof Lastly don’t use May and Co..... if you want peace of mind! John Reeves FRICS
