Chestertons - "You don't even deserve this 1 star"I had terrible experience with this letting agency.Please find below timelines of experience which made our life stressful.Chestertons posted ad for property on 4th Oct.1)Holding deposit was transferred for renting apt. on 6th Oct.2)Referencing started on 7th Oct and was completed by 14th Oct.3)Tenancy agreement was created on 15th Nov.They took 1 month just to create tenancy agreement!!!!4)Tenancy agreement was signed by us on 17th Nov.5)Remaining deposit and 1st month rent was transferred on 18th Nov.6)They made sure that we did not visit apartment twice . We were following up for apartment viewing but they couldn’t give us appointment from 31st Oct till 18th Nov.We received call from Melis on 19th Nov. mentioning that "Even though you have passed referencing checks , we cannot rent this property to you"7)They had our approx 5000£.

Hi Amruta, we are sorry to hear of your complaint. We have reviewed the situation with the relevant team and whilst we understand you were eager to get the contract, there are certain elements and documentation required from both parties before we can complete the contracts.We're aware that you were booked in to view the property twice once you arrived in the country so this request was not ignored, however, on both occasions the current tenant cancelled due to her child being unwell. This was unfortunately out of our control as we cannot enter the property without the current tenant's consent.The current tenants advised towards the very end of their tenancy that they would not be able to vacate as they were unable to find alternative accommodation. Melis contacted you as soon as we got this news and provided evidence when you requested it, to confirm the current tenant's situation. Due to the laws in the UK, we cannot do anything to speed up the vacation process until this has gone through the courts. Melis offered the closest comparable properties that we had on the market at that time to try and assist you as we did not want to leave you without options.Our teams have checked our accounts and we can see your holding deposit was returned to you on the 21st of November and the balance was refunded on the 23rd of November.Whilst we appreciate this has been less than ideal for you and Deepak, the situation is beyond our control.

Had such a great experience with Chestertons! All the staff so were knowledgable and helpful. Myha Reid, who was the main agent I was speaking with was super friendly and so helpful. I was sent a video tour of the property after the viewing which was great to look back.Also, every time I called the office, they knew the phone number and addressed me by name straight away which I thought was a great touch! By far one of the best agencies I have used.

As a Landlord we find that more than once they have paid rent owed to us to another persons account. Instead of instantly just paying us the outstanding money owed to us, they tell us they need to talk to the person whose account the wrongly credited. This should not be relevant to us. This is their error and they need to sort it immediately.As we pay a management fee, we should be able to expect a professional service. Disappointing and inconvenient!
