Martin and co Nottingham are absolutely…

Martin and co Nottingham are absolutely shocking from start to finish. Absolutely ridiculous moving out charges such as fingerprints on chrome light switches that need cleaning and a £33 to change a light bulb that had gone, and for replacement locks to be done as ‘I had not returned the keys’ they then proceeded to include a picture of the keys in the check out form, these are just a few examples, they have tried to charge almost £2000 in checking out expenses. I wanted to move out of my flat due to it becoming an unsafe place to live I.e. constant break ins to the building, human poo in the corridors and people smoking drugs in the hallways. Martin and co plus the landlord were no help at all waited months for responses. I made the decision to move out due to the conditions I was living in and from then on forward the company was a downright disgrace. Do not move in to a Martin and co property. They are horrendous to work with.

Dreadful “service” Plymouth.

I contacted Martin & Co Plymouth on a Saturday morning at 10am. The phone line explained the office was now closed and that the opening hours were 9-2 on Saturday. Poor start. I went on to the Chat system and allegedly got a human who took all my details and would pass them to the relevant team. I also emailed them. The following THURSDAY, as I’d heard nothing, I telephoned and the attitude I received was unprofessional and appalling. I wouldn’t deal with them and would urge anyone using them to switch agent if they want their property sold.

Laziest demotivated crew in Oxford. If there was a prize for not doing your job and complaining when someone calls you out for it, these guys win by a landslide. You're better off managing the property solo. A special shout out to the older Emma who is clearly unhappy and takes out her personal stress on tenants (i don't care if you feel unappreciated at work or at home, please be professional and learn how to respond to emails). Also to add, nothing was done at the property and the landlord and tenant had to do everything

Terrible (Bognor Branch)Rented for 1 ½ years and they never helped me once. Despite asking Marlina multiple time inc visiting the office, I was never given a key to communal meter cupboard to get readings. I never knew if I was in credit or debt the whole time. I was even emailed by Marlina to say too busy to get one, please ask a neighbour?Heating never worked, just a plug in radiator. Mould in bedroom ect.After leaving they tried to claim most of my deposit with false claims. End of tenancy report said multiple items missing despite them later admitting they had these in their offices. Locks tampered with, carpet dirty, pet damage & much more. They even took photos at strange angles to make things look worse than they were.Lucky I took photos start & end of tenancy & The deposit protection ruled in my favour.I promise you it was in better condition when I left. I even showed the owner round who said he was happy I looked after it.During a final call to them I asked why they never mentioned anything to me if issues and they said it was company policy to only talk to their clients. I thought I was their client???????Disgusting behaviour. If you dare use them (especially this branch) Take photos people!!Ok rant over. I don’t normally moan but all the above & virtually saying I stole items, I had to comment.Good luck all

Rented for 3 years with Martin & Co Birmingham, got left without a washing machine for 4 weeks because Debbie Kempson ordered the wrong washing machine! No compensation for there wrongdoing broken floorboards caused by contractors as the washing machine didn’t fit, no hot water for nearly a week! The worst company in the world. On departure they said I would receive my deposit back within 10 days I left on the 25th of April and it’s been nearly a month! I’ve now had to get a solicitor involved to give them a statutory declaration form to get my deposit back as they have stopped responding to my emails! I’ve been made to feel nobody caresAvoid renting with these guys!

Beware Blackpool, Lancaster and St Annes Branches

Dodgy plumbers left me with no water heating all winter. They lied and harassed me into leaving for trying to get it fixed.I spent over a month trying to get somebody decent to fix the water but they kept sending the same ones. Then I asked the council for help. Next day they started a no fault eviction (it's illegal to evict over repairs). They said the landlord was selling which was a lie.After 2 months they came and said I should have left which is a lie. They got a guy they said was the landlord (who had a different name) to lie and threaten me about the eviction.I'd been dealing with lying scumbags in a flat with no hot water for 5 months by this point so I gave up and left. They put the property up for let (for more money, when it didn't have hot water) before I moved out.I asked for a manager but nobody helped. (There are no managers, but everybody has the word manager in their job title).The council wrote to the "operations manager" for help but he ignored them. The "property manager" lied to them. The "assistant manager" hid out of view when the "property manager" came to harass me into leaving.It's an independent agent with offices in Blackpool, Lancaster and St Annes. Martin & Co is just a branding thing for the independent agents to hide behind, so "Martin & Co" won't help either.I wouldn't recommend anybody go near anything connected with this company or these people. I can't put into words the hell they will subject you to if you have an problem.As soon as you have a problem, speak to citizens advice and try to get legal help. Record everything in case you need it in court.

Not competent advisers

I am self-employed. My husband employed and we have a guarantor. But a very "nice" lady on the phone said that since I have been working for less than 1 year, my income will not be taken into account and the presence the guarantor does not change the situation in any way! So we could rent from them (or anyone from Rightmove) only on husband's salary which is enough only for properties not more then £900!!!Obviously that adviser is not competent and left me with no hope when it was a lie!

Rude Agent

The agent was rude over the phone. Wouldn't give us a chance to talk straightaway telling us we can't rent the property. My husband called separately and they made him hold 3 times asking unnessary question like about our kids especially what gender they both are, like what's that got to do with renting a property? Not a trusted house agent at all. Would never recommend.

They breached their contract by letting a stranger into our home without ANY notice and then they hiked our rent from £795 to £950 and then days after hiked it again to £1100. Disgraceful company. Julie Houghton in manchester is useless. Currently waiting for property ombudsmen to respond to our complaint.Update: 18/07/2022. They have now also evicted us from the property.BEWARE

Avoid renting with them.

Avoid renting with them.Immersion in the water tank broke down and Martin & Co send a technician that after couple of visits did not fix it. I warned Martin & Co that if the boiler were to break down (is an old one), I would have no hot water, but they disregard my email. 4 weeks after that the boiler broke down. I told them there is no hot water in the apartment but after a week they have done nothing and I am still with no hot water. When I meal them they reply with excuses saying they are tracking down the contractors to get an estimate or that they have contacted the landlord but got an out of office reply.Avoid Martin & Co at all cost, they don't care about you they just care about not upsetting the landlord.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!

I'm a landlord and had Martin & Co Paisley rent out my flat. They found a couple with a 5 year old child and said they had been vetted etc. Turns out it was a family with 2 small children. Who completely ruined my flat: Large red stains on carpet which needed replaced, food crushed into carpets, chewing gum stomped into carpets, handles off walls, food splashed up walls, paint ripped off walls. This list was endless. Fortunately we had a trades person that we know to go in and replace thermostat valves on the radiators (still unsure how they were all missing??), because the gas engineer that M&Co. had to quote decided we needed a new radiator etc etc and the quote was over a grand! This was not required at all! Our gas engineer advised us on the very bad situation in our flat and I requested M&Co. carry out an immediate inspection. A week after the inspection I had to contact them to request an update. Shockingly, the agent I spoke to said that there was nothing wrong with the flat and that 'some people have higher living condition expectations than others'. Hmmm. yes tenants ruining my property is certainly my problem. As expected I challenged the agent's report to only be told that he had made a mistake and that the report he had given was of the flat above. The audacity of this company is next level.Eventually they admitted that there was a problem in the flat and that they had spoken to the tenants that they needed to clean up the mess.Thankfully these awful tenants moved out but I was left with a big mess and had to redecorate, replace carpets, take their broken belongings to the dump (yes the disgusting tenants left all their crap for me to dispose of, like I was their personal slave). They didn't even pay their full rent for the last month. Horrific creatures. And all along M&Co. kept taking their fees and making claiming the measly deposit and my rent extremely difficult.AWFUL COMPANY. NO PROFESSIONALISM. WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS LOT. COULDN'T ORGANISE A P*SS UP IN A BREWERY. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!!
