Our friend has Parkinson’s and had major problems last summer, he was in hospital for a few weeks and decided to have respite care in a care home, then decided it was time to make this move permanent. As very good friends of his, we decided we would like to help him sell his house in St Ives. This was a good experience on the whole, particularly because Wellington Wise was so helpful. Wellington Wise was excellent, the small team helped us through the many decisions that had to be made. Our initial contact was Mike, and Sarah managed to push the sale through very effectively towards the end. There was an issue with the boundary which seemed to be a problem for the conveyancers, but Sarah understood how to solve this so that we could exchange contracts quickly. Everyone at Wellington Wise explained things very well and we have the utmost faith in their professionalism. We would recommend them wholeheartedly. A big thank you to all of you at Wellington Wise ! J & W Dickens

I recently completed on a property I purchased through Wellington Wise, St Ives. From the day I viewed the property and made an offer Sarah and the team were outstanding. My questions were answered and the whole process of purchasing was fast and without any hold ups. Without hesitation I would recommend and use Wellington Wise, St Ives for both purchasing and selling a property. Thank you - Sarah and the Team.

Holly has helped us so much throughout our process from viewing to moving in. The entire moving in process was professional and we felt like we could ask any questions. One thing we noted was that our inventory pre-move in was very detailed, which we really appreciated. Thank you to Holly and the team, we’re very happy in our new home.

Absolutely first class service, Sarah and her team were outstanding in helping us buy our home. The Legal process was tricky but they did an amazing job chasing progress and kept us up to date throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending or using again.

I waited for too long for an answer from Simon Burdett, Partner of Wellington Wise in ST Ives Cambridgeshire. I wrote to Simon regarding the conduct of his colleague Michael Dunstan, whose unethical behaviour and no longer trust in the company led me to leave Wellington Wise as I was selling my property . At the time of the incident Simon Burdett was on Holiday, but I would expect from him as I dealt mostly for my selling with him a call or an email after his returning to work.Taking present that I bought the property at Wellington Wise I thought to have the advantage to resell with W.W. How wrong I was The conduct from Simon Burdett of no care as his colleague Michael Dunstan and I would say the other partner Sarah Kerr let me questioning the company in all and when I had a chat with a legal adviser where his opinion of poor standard is wider spread between estate agents but when I mentioned that for my selling no contract was presented to me and no signed for any ghost contract at this point the financial adviser as the few agencies felt that I must report to Arla and mostly the property Ombusman and local trading standard. It is by Estate regulations of creating the contract not only to protect the agent but of course to protect the client as the client must binding by contract to avoid as it happened with a non effective communication with the client. Lack of communication is the most serious mistake an agent can make and Wellington Wise deserves a five stars . Gius

I had the good fortune of dealing with Charley Cade for the purchase of my property. Uniquely the property needed to be viewed by a structural engineer and builder. Charley accommodated and helped coordinate by providing contacts and help with scheduling. Charley was incredibly supportive through the whole process and a pleasure to deal with.

Selling at Wellington Wise, St Ives Cambridgeshire

Selling a property as agent it does not require a specific formal qualification too often not having any knowledge at all in the Estate market. Unfortunately Too often any making decision the agent is taking is not based with full knowledge and experience, so you as client hoping a full common sense is taking over, no absolutely this is not what happened to me with the agent Michael Denston On 21st August 2025 Michael D. called me, it was not relevant the motive Michael Denston acted but what it was relevant to me the unprofessional way he acted towards me as client in selling my property. Michael Denston took the initiative to act without an effective communication and consultation with me first and no after he already decided. This working level is showing me the poor standard and ethical behavior with the main fact that this agent is no able to come with the professional basic standard for a simple issue if arise to be resolved for the better and not let me to decide to find another agent hoping with the new agent is having a more logical common sense The wrong making decision from the agent it was based to put me the last priority of his making decision and avoiding himself problems and for this fact my trust towards to this man it is no longer present. Michael Denston is the Valuer in the company for what I can see does not value his customers with the priority needed for the better business relation. Michael Denston three times said that" I felt to acted to not upset anybody" but clearly his boy scout attitude lacking the level of professionalism let me upset again not for the motive but for his washing hands way and no consideration to deal with the client. Being fair it is not the first time I had some concern with Wellington Wise when I made enquiries for a selling property from Wellington Wise where no one answered. The question arises as concern and I wrote to the team leader, if no answers received from the team how do I expect to sell my property if any possible buyer it can be the same my position? Riz

We sold and purchased houses in St. Ives with Wellington Wise and have been amazed at the quality of service. We had true end-to-end support from Sarah and Charley in particular - from early valuation discussions and buying advice, through to completion of the chain. Communication was always top notch, very prompt and usually by phone with a lengthy supporting e-mail trail. You hear a lot about the stress of buying/selling houses and while this is somewhat true, in our case the agent only made things easier and relaxed. This was especially helpful to us as it took us a while to find our next house after selling. I would absolutely use Wellington Wise's services again.

I cannot recommend Wellington Wise enough, Mike did the initial contact and was brutally honest and real with me regarding the property sale. I then dealt with Charley who was very personable and great, he was on it and great with communication, he did not mess around and was a pleasure to work with. He seems very good at what he does and is great with people. Thank you Charley!

I had a wonderful experience from day one with Wellington Wise. My house originally sold in 24 hours, though sadly the buyer then had to pull out. The team were very efficient at getting my house back on the market and selling it quickly for a second time. The communication was excellent and any time I called, each person I spoke with knew what was happening with my sale. I spoke with Sarah, Simon, Mike and Charley who were all so friendly, hard working and helpful. I felt like they really cared and were supportive throughout. Sarah went above and beyond by driving to my buyer with paperwork which needed to be signed on more than one occasion. Without this my chain would have collapsed so I am beyond grateful! I was very impressed with the service I received and would recommend Wellington Wise to anyone wishing to sell.

The staff at Wellington Wise were fantastic to deal with when selling my fathers house. I don't live locally and they dealt with any issues promptly and took a great deal of stress out of the process for me. Big thanks to Charley who' was extremely helpful and communicative throughout. I would definitely recommend Wellington Wise to vendors or purchasers.

I recently began renting a property through Wellington Wise via their agent Holly. She was extremely helpful, professional, and prompt with all of her responses. And she expertly navigated working with the US Air Force housing office to ensure that I was able to move in without any issues. Highly recommend to anyone looking to rent or buy in this area.

Rockstar service! Charley was exceptionally helpful during our first time buying experience. He explained the process, outlined what was to come and opened the house so we could take measurements before the sale was complete. He was a rockstar in assisting us (even though we were the buyers). I recommend the experience for anyone!

A really big thank you to whole team at Wellington Wise - especially Charley & Sarah who kept us regularly updated. From the initial contact with Simon when we had a million questions about the process, all the way through to the end, the whole team was extremely supportive, making the entire process that bit less scary. I would not hesitate to recommend.

Darren is fantastic and runs a great team. He was why I chose the company! I received nothing but support and positivity through a slightly bumpy sale. Abi - the sales progressor was phenomenal. She regularly updated me, chased the chain and covered every angle to get the sale through in time. She always demonstrated professionalism and courtesy. She was understanding and always had the time to talk if needed. What an incredible asset to the company she is. S Cotterill

Life Ruining

This applies to Peter Lane, Wellington Wise and The Letting Agency regarding renting a maisonette at Riverside Mill, Godmanchester.Application was painful, but due to the lack of property, inflated prices and a reluctance to leave my job to relocate, I persevered. The viewing was smooth, but post viewing, application and referencing was horrendous.Hearing back on referencing must have taken over a month, having asked multiple times for updates, to be told that the landlord was away, or to be ignored. I was eventually told that he was happy to proceed.I requested the tenancy agreement before it would begin. I was told that they "only had it in paper form and I could see it on the day it began". I asked again for a copy, to be sent a “draft”. I was asked for the full deposit to be paid prior to the start of the tenancy “as there is lack of signal” at the office.I asked whether it was furnished as the advert said so, but the viewing agent didn’t know. I was told so, so requested a list of items. I was sent a list of items likely to be there. Last minute, I was told that the bed would be removed. I was again asked for the full deposit and first month’s rent before arriving at the office. At the office I was told “we don’t hand over keys without funds” to which I said “I haven’t seen the tenancy agreement”, he replied “you want to do it this way around”. I received the contract, but if I were to disagree with any of the terms I would have been homeless. I read with the agent watching me as I read the lengthy document. I signed the tenancy.Moving into the property, there was a musty smell and a worse smell in the bathroom, but a smell of rubbish and sewage in the kitchen. I went about neutralising and cleaning the flat. The smell wouldn’t go, so I reported it.The flat above’s boarding moved with every footstep throughout the night, creaking as though they were walking on the plasterboard.I was told that the landlord had no control over this and that it had never been reported before. It later turned out that the landlord was aware of it having lived at the property.I suggested that I switch the lounge and bedroom, but I would need the sofa removed. The landlord refused to remove the sofa as “he had nowhere to store it”, it was apparently worth more than a tenant. There were numerous other issues I reported included dirty appliances, cluttered cupboards going beyond “furnished”, a parking ticket for “not having been passed a permit”, having other fittings and fixtures falling apart and the overall lack of support from the agent. I also came home to find the curtain pole in the lounge had fallen down, as it was held together with parcel tape. The only “positive” is that I wanted to terminate the tenancy before the second month, of which was accepted. I would have rather stayed and the landlord act on my minor requests than risk becoming homeless.A month on, I’m waiting for my deposit of which they are holding for “cleaning” and “damages” for a few items in the property that were left due to the rapid departure and for a piece of flooring I had to lift to take a photo they requested. Before I lifted the flooring I said that I would have to lift the vinyl, and they didn’t reply, but still wanted a photo of bending, soaked upstairs boarding. They refused to send a contractor to look at the issue as it would have cost him “£80”.The final nail was the stench of sewage that got worse. I looked under the bath and kitchen counters and found the potential for the smell to be coming from the internal waste pipe. I was told after that “the only waste pipe was on the exterior of the property, so it couldn’t be an issue”. They sent an agent to inspect in the morning, and as the smell was less at that time of day, and the boarding wasn’t wet to the touch, my report was disregarded.Despite this, they are overlooking the state of the property, items failing and breaking, and all of the problems listed. They are causing immense mental and physical stress, and are now pushing for £125 compensation.I requested assistance from Peter Lane's office, and Mr. Peter Lane himself, but all requests were either ignored or denied.
