GoogleAs first time buyers suddenly moving forward with a life-changing event, we couldn't have predicted some of the obstacles and struggles we would end up facing - but Martin & Co made it seem easy.
Through a long-running 9-month process, Zak and the team (a special shout-out to Helen, Charlotte, and Hollie, also!) quelled any fears we had, have always been snappy to reply on any queries and support us, and of course ultimately got us our dream home.
A personal thank you from Aleasha (and Kev) and I for all the hard work put in to get us here. A monumental effort that we truly truly appreciate, and I have zero reservations in recommending Martin & Co, whether it be for a purchase, a sale, or even both in a potentially lengthy chain.

GoogleMy experience with Martin & Co Huddersfield was full of broken promises. From the start, communication was awful, emails were ignored, and important updates were never passed on. I was told certain facilities would be working and clean, but the laundry room was filthy and constantly flooded, and the lift barely worked. When I raised concerns, they acted like it was my fault for expecting basic standards. I would not recommend them to anyone looking for honest, professional housing support. Disorganised, dismissive, and clearly prioritising money over tenant wellbeing.

Thank you for your review, although it appears you have not been a tenant of ours. From what you are saying in your review I am guessing this is Yns dje under a fake name!! The reason you have decided to leave 7 negative reviews under fake names is due to the issues that were found at the end of your tenancy. Your room was left in a terrible condition, which you have admitted too on the emails after photos were sent to you of the checkout. This has cost the landlord in excess of £1000 to put right. Due to family problems you advised you had to just up and leave without cleaning up after yourself. Smoking is not permitted in the building, yet you continued to do so in a sneaky manner by spraying cans and cans of air freshner, rolling a towel up at the back of your door and throwing cigarette butts out of the window. The carpet has cigarette burns around the window area, the walls have nicotine stains, you had sellotape around the walls which has pulled paint off. Food was left in the kitchen area that was out of date and smelly, milk left had 'gone off' again, unaccepatble. The furniture was left stained and unuseable for the new occupier of this room. The laundry room which you have full use of is cleaned on a very regular basis, it has never been flooded! The lift was isolated from the building many years ago to which all applicants are advised of. Should the room have been left as it was presented to you there would have been no issues.

GoogleI’ve never seen a lettings agency treat tenants with such little respect. There were times I came back to find my room entered without notice, lights left on, and no explanation. The communal facilities were neglected, filthy laundry room, frequent pest issues, and constant noise disruptions. It was clear the agency cared more about money than tenant wellbeing. If you’re a student or international renter, stay far away from this company, they see you as easy to exploit.

GoogleThe worst estate agent I have ever dealt with. Moved into a property in Huddersfield which already had nails on the wall from rhe very beginning and accused us of putting them in when we moved out.
They accused us of leaving boxes in the cellar which definitely wasn't true as those boxes were already down in the cellar when we had moved in.
They kept more than half of our deposit by using these things as excuses. I'll make a special mention about Lisa Hollings who is extremely rude and extremely deceitful.
Anyone using them as a estate agent. Please be warned and be extra careful when renting out a property.
They also asked us to get a duplicate key made for them which I refused as they are the ones getting paid to maintain the house hence its their job to come to us and get the key made themselves. The cheek of them!!!
And I shall also continue to post more negative comments about martin and co. I will not accept more than half of our deposit to be taken away from us.
And then lisa holllings calls me up saying how upset she was at me using her name and that I shouldn't use it. She doesn't want to be embarrassed nor does she want people to know what she's like ! That is how much it bothered her.
Lastly why else would they have a rating of 3.9 out of 5. It's clearly not good enough when you have useless people working for them!!!

I have emailed you the evidence to show the nails were not there when you moved in, I also emailed you the mid term inspection showing you had put something up on the walls using the nails in the areas we were speaking about. The cleanliness you have left the house in has also been sent to you with several photos and you have chosen to ignore these requests. The house was not given to you in this condition. Should you have left the house in the condition it was provided in there would be no need for us to hold back any money from your bond. GoogleBe ware these guys are criminals. They hired a professional thief named Lee. He came into our flat and basically stole everything that was in there. Clothes, electronics, furniture. He claimed he threw it all away during the pandemic when there was a lockdown. This is false. There was expensive clothes. TV’s, consoles etc. honestly the flat was full of equipment and furniture easily worth around £4000-£5000. Designer clothes from Gucci, north face, Canada goose, Lacoste etc. all stolen by this company. We had a situation with damped ceiling that they simply just re painted over. They’re very bad if you’re an international student from overseas. Arabic or Chinese. They will 100% take advantage of that. These people are sub human they are vultures and all they care about is milking you for your money and properties. Look at all the negative reviews they have I’m not the only person that had to suffer from these thief’s. Please go elsewhere they are professionals at what they’re doing and they will get anyone. There motto should be “we don’t discriminate when we milk you dry” be careful people I wouldn’t write all of this for no apparent reason. They’re thief’s.

GoogleI was recently told my current landlord was selling the house, I rung around a few letting agents, most of which didn't really make me feel any better about my situation, didn't really act like they were there to help.
Then I had a phone call from leah, she was so lovely to me and understanding on the phone, and made me feel so much better, just because she was kind! I found a property with martin and co, the process was easy and quick.
They are always just a phone call or an email away if you need them!

GoogleI stayed at 34 Wood Street Studios through Martin & Co Huddersfield and had a nightmare experience. The studio had rats, the laundry machines were broken and filled with dirty water, and the lift barely worked. One of their staff entered my room while I was asleep and naked, without any notice. They charged me £586 for a month I didn’t live there, then demanded £920 extra for repainting and “damages”, after already keeping my full deposit. When I raised issues, I was ignored. Stay far away from this agency, they prey on students and international tenants.

I recently had to find a new guarantor and had to use housinghand, they were quite difficult but Emma was amazing through the whole process and chased up the application for me and spent time out of her day to get answers when it was too stressful for me. Cannot fault her service and I think Martin&Co have been amazing since I first moved in 18 months ago. They’ve always replied when I’ve contacted and always addressed my concerns with my landlord as soon as I let them know of something. Would highly recommend using these guys if you want good honest service :)
