I can't recommend At Home enough! They were everything you would need in an estate agent. We worked with James when we sold our old house. He instantly put us at ease when we first met, with a friendly demeanour and an in-depth knowledge of the market. He was realistic and honest, which we really appreciated. He took the time to recognise saleable details of our home to help sell it and we got a great price for it thanks to him! He was also involved in our onward purchase, helping to provide updates and chase the other estate agents in our chain (as well as solicitors). The whole team at At Home were lovely as we did speak with a few of them during our buying/selling journey (shout out to Alex!). What ab awesome bunch of people! We will definitely use At Home again in the future!

I recently bought a house which was sold by At Home Estate Agents and I can honestly say they were so helpful. From the beginning of my house hunting journey Debbie carried out several viewings with me. She was genuinely interested and really took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for. Once my offer had been accepted Alex was instrumental in pushing things along when needed. If you're contemplating renting in this area, let me share my story to help you navigate the pitfalls I faced. #### The Beginning: A Promising Start Turns Sour Three years ago, my family and I were excited to find our new home in Heavengate. We believed we had made a wise decision, especially after paying six months of rent in advance. However, just six months into our lease, a “For Sale” sign appeared outside our house, catching us completely off guard. The agency failed to mention that the landlord was considering selling the property when we signed the lease. This lack of transparency forced us into a difficult situation, as moving expenses were already piling up, and we were not ready to start looking for a new place so soon. #### The Struggle to Find a New Place Despite the initial disappointment, we attempted to stay positive, thinking that it might be a minor hiccup. However, as we searched for another rental, the process proved to be exhausting and fraught with challenges. We reached out to AT Home to assist us in finding a new residence, but with each new move came additional costs, new deposits, removal expenses, and the stress of relocating, all while ensuring our children remained close to their school. After enduring this turbulent period, we finally settled into a new home, confident that we would enjoy stability this time. Little did we know, our troubles were far from over. #### A Sudden Eviction Notice: Section 21 Just over a year into our new lease, we received an unexpected email from At Home informing us of the activation of a Section 21 notice against us. This legal document, which allows landlords to evict tenants without giving a reason, was shocking for us. The feeling of insecurity and the prospect of having to search for yet another rental left us feeling frustrated and disappointed. Again, we faced new accommodation costs and the emotional toll of uprooting our family once more. #### The Bigger Picture: A System Favoring Landlords Ultimately, we found a delightful new home, cheaper than the previous ones and more suited to our needs. However, the entire experience left a bitter taste in our mouths. AT Home Estate Agency displayed a complete lack of respect for their tenants. They operated under a system that prioritized landlords’ interests over those of the tenants, which is disheartening. Their treatment of our deposits was particularly egregious; we were charged for repairs that were already conducted prior to our move-in, even though subsequent renovations were undertaken by the new owners. #### Conclusion: A Word of Warning In hindsight, my experiences with AT Home Estate Agency have been nothing short of disheartening. The frequent moves, unexpected costs, and lack of tenant rights make it a cautionary tale for anyone looking to rent in West Sussex. At Home are frankly one of the most inept companies I've ever encountered in any sector. I utilised them as a letting agent for a couple of years where the service was frankly sub-par and often quite chaotic, but regardless, due to ease of access with a sitting tenant that they were managing, I decided to give them a shot at marketing the property when it came time for me to sell it. This proved to be a huge mistake. Due to a complete lack of attentiveness by their sales agent Liam, they totally lost control of the process and eventually after 6 months they lost the buyer. The flat ended up lying empty for a prolonged period of time and the whole debacle cost me thousands of pounds. Fast forward a few months, I've sold the property through another local agent (who were excellent), and At Home have had the cheek to fraudulently claim to have sold the property and even put a "sold" sign outside my property. I've never known such appalling false advertising in my life and have reported them to the ombudsmen. I'd suggest that anyone looking to sell or rent a property in the Horsham area should avoid this crooked, deceitful and incompetent company.
