Long story short, the sales team were fantastic and lovely to deal with. We had a great experience signing up for a new rental. On the initial viewing, as we walked around, we got a lot of “yes, that will be fixed, yes, that will be cleaned,” etc. Upon the move-in day, when we discovered none of these things were done, the excitement turned quickly to disappointment and some regret. I have faith these issues will be sorted over time, but as an example, almost every blind in the house was broken at the viewing and they are still broken. There were areas that were filthy dirty and they still were. There was NO cleaning done prior to us moving in. The washing machine and dishwasher were disgusting and we had to clean them upon moving in!? After we ran the washing machine a few times, we added a few sheets and they came out COVERED in grit and dirt. I was shocked and angry. Did we get a sorry for this? Nope. I do not feel any empathy was shared by the lettings team for the disappointment we felt. We felt totally dismissed like we were just complainers. Everything was deferred to the landlord, who would choose what they would fix and what they wouldn’t, and why they hadn’t done this or that, and that was the end of it. I expected the Letting Quarter to be middlemen working equally for tenant and landlord. It’s clear this is not going to be the case. It’s been taking days to get a reply to any concerns, whereas of course the sales team were super efficient, helpful and nice. Funny that.

Sam was fantastic to work with from start to finish. She has great banter, which made the whole process enjoyable, and she was incredibly easy to deal with. After just a few brief conversations, she understood exactly what we were looking for, I like to keep things straight to the point, and she completely got it. We’ve had our fair share of experience with private renting over the years, so we don’t say this lightly. The Letting Quarter are honestly the best letting agents we’ve ever dealt with. A property we were due to move into fell through just one week before our move date, at the same time we were due to leave our current place. It was incredibly stressful and we were genuinely worried about becoming homeless. Sam completely pulled out all the stops to make sure that didn’t happen. She worked tirelessly to secure us somewhere to live and kept us reassured throughout the whole process. Sam is so friendly, personable and professional, you can tell she genuinely cares. In fact, every single person we spoke to at The Letting Quarter was lovely and helpful. It’s such a refreshing change from other agencies we’ve dealt with in the past. The Property Quarter have been managing our flat for 20 years, and I cannot speak highly enough of them. They have an excellent understanding of the rental market, and move quickly to ensure minimum untenanted days, and during that 20 years - through some challenging times - we have not had a vacant flat for more than a couple of weeks. They have access to excellent trades people, and organise repairs and servicing quickly, and at very competitive prices. Their team are friendly, helpful and thoroughly professional. I was lucky enough to meet with Jo on my first viewing who was really personable, professional and knew everything I needed to know about the local market. Even when the first property wasn’t right, Jo engaged with me and was proactive in searching for other option based on my personal criteria. Came to Hitchin for a few weeks after selling my previous home in London. I looked at reviews for The Letting Quarter prior to moving - and they seemed pretty positive. I also visited The Letting Quarter earlier in the year to show interest in renting in Hitchin, all seemed great after talking in-person to someone on their team. I also sent an email confirming my tenant registration details that same day. Followed up that email 3-4 months later after selling my house and got zero response. I was determined to live in Hitchin, so moved up to the area to find somewhere to rent. I once again visited The Letting Quarter and talked AGAIN in-person to someone on their lettings team, who took my details, said that I could view flats/apartments immediately; and also sent my contact details to their colleague who had taken my initial enquiry earlier in the year. Added to this, I emailed the colleague who had taken my details the second time around (as a follow up to re-confirm my interest), and once again, zero response from this email. This is extremely poor treatment for someone looking for somewhere to live. If The Letting Quarter couldn't help, maybe just replay to an email and say that?
