My wife and I are the owners of an Apartment in Fairfield Hall, Fairfield Park Stotfold, which we purchased in 2016 in advance of our retirement. In the meantime, prior to occupying the apartment ourselves, we have used the services of Belvoir Hitchin as letting agents. As a 165 year-old grade 2 listed building, it is important to maintain the property to the highest possible standard and respond quickly to issues as they arise, including wear and tear, and keeping up to date with changes in legislation affecting rented properties. Overall, we have found the quality of their service to be excellent. Over the last two years, our property manager has been Aneekah Latif. Throughout this time we have been grateful for her professional but friendly and caring approach to her very efficient management of our apartment. Belvoir and in particular Peter, were absolutely fabulous during the sale of my property. I was undecided whether to rent or sell the property and Peter gave great advice on both. In the end, I decided to sell. It was a tough time, as my Mum had just moved into a care home, but Peter was very thoughtful and courteous throughout the process. He knew the market exceptionally well and had a great understanding of the immediate area and what sells/does not. Peter went above and beyond to make this process as seamless and stress free as possible and was a joy to work with. He gave me some great advice throughout and I honestly couldn't have wished for a better sale. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Jan went above and beyond with the sale of my mum's property, even helping organise home clearance and offering to put the hoover around before viewings! I had an incredibly poor experience with an estate agent at Belvoir alongside my landlord at the end of my tenancy. I moved into a flat in Hitchin with a friend and we lived in the property for 2 years. At the end of our tenancy we cleaned and emptied the property and agreed that we were liable to contribute towards a few items. When I returned my key to the store, I had an uncomfortable conversation with the estate agent dealing with our departure - he told me I was being ‘unethical’ and that if I gave him some money to have the flat professionally cleaned, he would negotiate the rest of my deposit with the landlord. It is my belief that this individual and my landlord are friendly and they both set out to intimidate us. Following some sour emails and a list of costs hand written in a notebook with no evidence, the landlord claimed for our full £1100 deposit. Thank god for the Deposit Protection Service who proved that we owed no where near that amount and we received 80% of our deposit back. It’s clear why the estate agent was trying to discourage us from using the service by telling us ‘it would take too long’. The whole experience was extremely stressful and it has tainted my view on renting in general. Be careful!

In mid-January my old dad announced it was time for him to move into residential care, and tasked me to sell the house he had lived at in Hitchin for over 35 years to fund the care home fees. I do not live locally and work full time in a very demanding role, so did not have the luxury of time or local knowledge to work on this task. The internet offered a multitude of local estate agents to research and choose from, so I selected a small number of likely candidates from reviews and all were happy to accommodate my limited window of opportunity to view and provide feedback on the property. I work in a sales role and understand all too well that if your product / service is the same as your competitors, and the price is the same, the only difference upon which to make a decision is the people who satisfy your requirement. John at Belvoir immediately stood out for me as someone who was very likeable, possessed a calm energy, was fully prepared with facts and figures on the state of the current local market and, most importantly, demonstrated an enthusiasm for the potential in the property that made me feel that he was someone that I would be happy to buy from. The e-brochure that John quickly put together for the property showed it in it’s most favourable light and was first class. From the day the property hit the market, John and Jan kept me informed pre-and post-appointment with client feedback and we had firm offers in place to choose from within 5 days. John in particular deserves special mention and grateful thanks for going above and beyond at short notice when we encountered hiccups which I was unable to sort myself due to time and distance. His considered opinion and advice was invaluable throughout. All in all, even with the disappointment of a withdrawn offer some 3 weeks into the process, I couldn’t fault the service received from John and Jan, whose optimism, encouraging words and unfailing humour saw us through to a very satisfactory completion. Would I use Belvoir again? Very definitely! And I would suggest you give serious consideration too.

Jan was brilliant throughout the purchase process for my house - I could not rate her customer service levels highly enough. Having been let down badly with a previous purchase and my confidence in estate agents was low. Jan was sensitive to my family circumstances and patiently allowed me all the viewings I needed to make an informed decision.
