I recently purchased a flat through MacLeod & MacCallum and unfortunately there have been issues ever since. The process to purchase was smooth and the estate agents were great, however it has quickly become apparent of historic leakage issues and ongoing problems throughout the property that hindered it uninhabitable and in need of costly repairs. It came to light quite quickly that the sellers were aware of the historic leaks and ongoing issues but chose not to disclose this information during the transaction. The surveyor believes these should have been disclosed in his opinion and my solicitors have informed me they believe this is a case of wilful misrepresentation on the part of the seller, which leaves a new buyer in a very difficult position. I am now faced with the burden of appointing a court solicitor to resolve the matter, as recommended by my solicitors. The entire ordeal has been very time-consuming so far, draining and financially challenging. While I cannot place the entire blame on MacLeod & MacCullum, their responses to my solicitors did not address the concerns we raised, hence now being informed they believe there was wilful misrepresentation and needing to take the matter further. I would advise not purchasing via them to avoid the same fiasco we are currently going through and avoid them at all costs.

Breach of confidence.
Passed my personal details onto their wealth management affiliate without my permission. When I asked for an explanation they pointed me to their T&C’s which stated they could pass on my details. So I would have needed another lawyer to check Mac and Mac T&C’s.

Tried to book viewing for a property. Explained that as I was moving into the area I could only do weekends to which I was informed by 2 members of staff that viewing of the property was Mon - Fri only. Agreed that it would be acceptable for me to view externally at the weekend. Left my contact details and told both staff that I was extremely keen on the property and subject to viewing would be likely to make an offer. Was very concerned to arrive at the property and find viewings taking place. The staff member present was very helpful and apologetic but could not allow us to view as we did not have a booking.NegativeProfessionalism

Dreadful correspondence, asked them to look over an important letter that had to be signed and sent away asap. Didn’t hear back for 2 weeks, by then, I had asked for advice elsewhere and sent the letter away. Poorly detailed prognosis, with mistakes. Ended up going with a bigger firm to represent me. Night and day. Pestered me with threatening letters demanding payment, although they were instructed to contact my solicitor regarding this issue. They were aware of my poor mental health caused by the accident, yet still threatened me with court action. Very disappointing

England to Scotland move to the Highlands
We recently moved from our home in Lancashire to the Black Isle, Inverness. Macleod & MacCallum were recommended. Their Solicitor Rory Carson's professionalism and reassuring manner eased our way through to the completion date and achieved our ambition to come to the Highlands. We therefore, highly recommend contacting Macleod & MacCallum for any of their services they provide.

Went in and the letting agent was extremely rude to me and my girlfriend after I had cancelled a viewing that morning just to clarify it was not Pamela , (lettings)I know I’m young but I work with customers face to face every day as a sales executive and she was the worst example of how to greet people that are looking for somewhere to live, the lady said she was out of the office for an hour and explained she was the one that was meant to be doing the viewing , as soon as she started talking extremely rude to us and “telling us of” I said to my girlfriend we were leaving , absolute joke and I promise you you we won’t be going back , was greeted very well at places like rightmove and hspc , please don’t go to this place if your looking for property! Utter disappointment.

Just finished a 2 year+ family case with Mac and Mac and found them to be attentive and pragmatic. All options laid out with costs so that I could make the best decision possible at the time. Like all protracted legal issues the costs ramp up but no surprises and I was given a nice discount on my final invoice which was appreciated. Meetings and phone calls accommodated quickly. I would happily, if needed (and I hope it isn't), use them again.

Great agency! The lettings team is fantastic! I've just started my second tenancy with them. They tried to accommodate my needs and worked very hard to find me a new place after my landlord decided to sell my house. They're always approachable and supportive. I'm glad I could stay with them again! Highly recommended!

Extremely upsetting experience with the staff. They use old pictures from before the tenants before us to try and con us and steal our deposit after moving out. Trying to sort out issues with staff and they keep cutting me off mid sentence and talking over me. Extremely rude, arrogant, condescending and ignorant responses to any concerns I tried to raise. Worst experience I've ever had when dealing with a letting agency. Staff seemed to have zero knowledge about the actual rental property and had the audacity to hang up on me twice because I wouldn't tolerate their disgusting attitudes towards me while trying to explain the items they were asking me to remove from the property in fact belonged to the landlord of said property. Definitely would avoid dealing with them again.

Excellent service from the first viewing to getting handed over the keys to our rented property. Well recommended. Agents were very helpful and were just a phone call away when we needed them.
