I had an excellent experience renting a rural property in West Sussex through Batcheller Monkhouse, and in particular working with Emma Bagnall. From start to finish, Emma has been outstanding. She handled everything with professionalism, clarity and genuine care. She was consistently responsive, keeping us informed, and taking the time to explain next steps and provide reassurance. Emma was not only efficient and knowledgeable, but also thoughtful and supportive. It genuinely felt like she was invested in helping us secure the right home. Thanks to her guidance and efficient management, we are now moving into what truly feels like a dream home, and I’m very grateful for her role in making that happen. I would highly recommend Emma and the Batcheller Monkhouse team to anyone looking to rent in the area!

Loved using Batchellor Monkhouse to sell my home. I primarily worked with Emily who was super but everyone in the office was always up to speed on developments. Great attention was taken to the photos and listing. All the agents who would show the house came round in advance to get a feel for the place. Tough market and BM delivered. Grade II* listed house with lots of quirks sold and very happy in new home.

I would highly recommend Batcheller Monkhouse based on our own experience. They are a friendly team of knowledgeable and experienced agents. There was always someone really helpful on the end of the phone, even when our lead agent was unavailable. Their communication and response to emails/phone enquiries was excellent - both with us, our buyers and the legal teams. Unfortunately we experienced a fairly difficult journey but I feel that the whole thing might have collapsed had we not had such experienced agents to guide us through it. They were reassuring, patient & tenacious at all times, despite the on-going obstacles our chain faced. Worth their weight in gold and we are extremely grateful for all their efforts.

Batcheller Monkhouse are not to be trusted. They knowingly rented a house with mould growing in every room, toxic carcinogenic black mould on most window sills, airborne mould spores, moisture, damp + humidity issues, which had flowing water into the walls under the house that had never been professionally cleaned for 20+ years to an asthmatic who they knew was an asthmatic. The tenant requested a house without mould issues due to health concerns and alerted the agent prior to viewings - this was ignored..The agent in question is Clare Sheffield. After reporting respiratory issues after the first night nothing was done to rectify this after one month. The tenant suffered considerably due to this hideous agencies priority of money over their tenants health. Again, Clare Sheffield was managing the rental. Now Batcheller are aiming to profit from my misfortune. TENANTS & LANDLORDS AVOID THIS AGENCY AT ALL COSTS.

We have used a range of services from Batcheller Monkhouse over the past 4 years and we would not have achieved the outcomes we did without their unfailing expertise. Their fantastic and diligent rental department managed our property for more than 3 years after which their incredible sales team sold it for us. There were complex planning issues related to the sale and in stepped their planning department to resolve these for us! It has been a one stop shop for all our requirements which was so reassuring as they did all of this with us residing in NZ. Prompt, utterly professional and most of all caring. Very special thanks to Simon and Carly for their determined efforts to secure the favourable outcome they did. Selling your Home can be a very stressful experience. I should know as I’ve done it 7 times over the last 30 or so years. However Batcheller Monkhouse Haywards Heath were fantastic, making it one of the easiest sales we’ve ever encountered. Firstly, they work as a team, so you can access information and updates when you want them. They keep you informed, which is vital in keeping the stress level to a minimum. Each member of staff I spoke too were approachable and very professional. We were also happy with everything they did to promote our house, we felt they had all options covered. They clearly got it right as the viewers that came to see the house, were the right ones, they were a good fit! Overall I would say, BM Haywards Heath is one of best agents to employ selling your property.

TENANTS & LANDLORDS AVOID THIS AGENCY AT ALL COSTS.

The list of complaints about this company is so long that it would not be appropriate to give them all here. I have written 3-4 pages to the Property Redress Scheme along with multiple photographs as evidence and have just received notification that the complaint was ‘declined’. I am considering taking this to the Small Claims Court.Interestingly the agent in Battle that was in charge of lettings who I dealt with was Clare Sheffield who solicited me to change from my existing agent in charge of lettings and interestingly was mentioned in the last complaint with the same heading. She appears to have now left within weeks of my complaint but personally I would not go near this company who in my view are only interested in getting their maintenance fee and not fulfilling their contractual obligations.In summary there is evidence that they are freely economical with the truth to cover their failings to exercise due care for their contracted customers. The quarterly inspections are not carried out with care and the Exit Report company was deficient if not negligent leaving out multiple items when cross checked with the first report before possession.I wish I had read the Trust Pilot reviews before switching to them.
