Aysima from Hunters Shoreditch has been so helpful in assisting me to find my very first apartment in London. She was always available to answer any questions or queries I had and was determined to help me find the right place for me. She was prompt, transparent and a friendly person to deal with. I will definitely reach out to her in the future again if I need a new place !

Not transparent, poor communication, poor customer service

1. Not transparent, even though they have a duty to disclose issues with the property once asked. When I asked why is a 2-bed in the city centre is only £995 (when I already knew the answer being ongoing construction site), they were purposely very vague. He emailed, "Regarding the prices, there are a number of factors affecting a valuation of a property which include size, conditions, time of year, building etc." 2. Get clients names mixed up and books you in for the wrong viewings. Eg. I asked to see a £995 2 bed property but they linked me to a £1300 property. I had to correct them. They also kept emailing me and calling me Chris when I said several times I am not Chris. Worrying early signs of poor communication, little to no client care. 3. Viewings are incomplete - why schedule a viewing of the property, only for me to turn up and that is when you say there is a communal laundry room but I am not allowed to view it. After the viewing I emailed back and this was their response: "The communal laundry rooms are on the stairs, one per floor. At the moment we don’t have capacity for second viewings unfortunately. I made it clear from the beginning of my enquiry that I wanted to find a quiet home to rent and no drama. Clearly, the initial contact and viewing experience already hints there will be drama, probably worse if I did sign a contract with Hunters.

My experience selling a property in the…

My experience selling a property in the UK with this agent was extremely frustrating. For over four months, they delayed the transaction. Despite my constant follow-ups, they kept giving me excuse after excuse, like mortgage problems or minor issues, saying it would happen next week. Eventually, I told them I would pull out and sell to another buyer, but Matthew insisted I still had to pay. I also want to warn people about this company, be very cautious, because in the contract, they include terms that are unfavorable to the client. Once you sign, they do very little to follow up, and you can’t even be sure if the buyer will complete the deal. Their main priority is just getting you to sign, and regardless of whether the sale happens, they still take your money. And when I tried to back out, Matthew actually threatened me, saying that if I didn’t pay, they would escalate it to other departments. I feel this is a form of intimidation.”

I am very disappointed:

I am very disappointed: After my property was managed by Brandford Hunters for around 6 years, I was suddenly charged £240 for a new rental reform bill contract and £45 plus VAT per person for AML checks. These fees were not clearly explained or agreed with me in advance. The deduction was also made from my refund before I had signed or agreed to the new contract. I feel this is unclear and unfair, especially as a long term landlord client.

I would strongly advise others to think…

I would strongly advise others to think twice before renting through this estate agent. When we signed our tenancy agreement, the property was advertised and agreed with included parking, which was a key factor in our decision to rent the flat. However, just a few months into our tenancy, the parking was suddenly closed off and made unavailable. This caused significant inconvenience and disruption to our daily lives, especially as parking had been a major factor in choosing this property. What’s particularly frustrating is how the situation was handled. The estate agent did very little to help resolve the issue and took no responsibility whatsoever, despite the parking being part of what was originally offered. Communication was poor, and we were essentially left to deal with the consequences on our own. During this time, we were forced to park in a Tesco car park and pay for parking after work. On multiple occasions there were no spaces available, meaning I had to drive around late in the evening trying to find alternative parking elsewhere. This was both stressful and time-consuming. To try and resolve the issue, my partner had to take several hours out of his working day over the course of a week, including attending a three-hour meeting. Despite this effort, the only solution offered was for the landlord to contribute just 50% towards alternative parking, which was located far away from our building in a public car park. Even with this contribution, it would still leave us paying over £100 extra per month for something that was originally included. To make matters worse, the flat has now been re-let at a significantly lower price than we were paying. We were paying £1,200 per month with parking included, yet it has since been advertised for under £1,000 per month without parking. In that context, the offer to contribute just 50% towards inconvenient, off-site parking feels completely inadequate and frankly quite insulting. We were ultimately forced to find a new property, which cost us hundreds of pounds in moving expenses, required taking multiple days off work, and caused a huge amount of stress. Despite this, the agent offered no compensation and even suggested we should be grateful to have been released from the contract. Once we had agreed to leave due to the parking issues and lack of support, we were then required to accommodate viewings of the property. This took up additional hours of my partner’s working day and caused further disruption at an already stressful time while we were trying to organise our move. Only months after we moved out did the agent state that the landlord would cover the additional parking costs we incurred, but this was conditional on us agreeing to drop any other potential claims. We will not be agreeing to this. Had they taken proper responsibility for misrepresenting the property and the significant inconvenience, cost, and stress caused, this situation may have been handled very differently. The issues didn’t stop there. They then attempted to charge us money from our deposit for items such as “discoloration in the washing machine drawer”, something that was already documented in the original check-in report. They provided an amount for repair without any supporting cost evidence. When we challenged this and requested proof, the quotes we eventually received were extremely high and unreasonable. We had to stand our ground and escalate the matter to TDS for dispute resolution, and only then did we end up paying only 40% of what they were trying to charge. It has now been months since we left the property and we still have not received our full deposit back, which is adding further financial strain and stress. Overall, this experience has been extremely disappointing. A letting agent should provide support, take responsibility, and offer fair, reasonable solutions when issues arise. Unfortunately, this agent failed on all counts, and I would not recommend using them

Avoid this agency at all costs.

I paid a £135 holding deposit to secure a room with an agreed move‑in date. The moment they took my money, they changed the date and told me I could only move in several days later. Because of their change, I could no longer proceed and asked for a refund, which they refused. Every part of the process felt unprofessional. They changed key terms after taking payment, ignored the written agreement, and then tried to keep the deposit even though the change was entirely on their side. I had to escalate the issue to the Property Ombudsman because they simply would not do the right thing. This experience caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and disrupted my housing plans. Based on how they handled this situation, I would strongly advise others to be extremely cautious before handing over any money.

Robot refused to give me a viewing

Awful experience trying to arrange a viewing. Spent yonks on the phone with a robot. It asked me unnecessary questions and misheard things; then had to reconfirm everything. Eventually it was happy. I hung up and it started again this time by text. In the end it refused to let me have a viewing unless I told them my spending budget - which I wasn't prepared to do. Do not sell your property through these idiots.

Disappointed

Disappointed, we learned our house purchase had fallen through at the point of us being ready to exchange on our property. We found out that the office had known about it and left it to the agent, who had been looking after us, to tell us after she came back from annual leave! We never got a reason for the purchase to fall through and they even tried delaying us putting an offer in on another property. Luckily this was with another agent and we trusted our gut as the trust with Hunters had gone. 7 weeks later we were in our new home. Felt let down and disappointed with Hunters. This was our first and last time dealing with them.

My experience with Hunters was deeply…

My experience with Hunters was deeply disappointing. Repeated administrative errors relating to notices and tenancy handling caused unnecessary delays, additional time, and avoidable stress during possession proceedings. When I recently contacted the branch again regarding future instructions, I was informed in a dismissive manner that they no longer wished to work with me due to previous disputes, disputes which arose from their own handling failures. Professionalism, accountability, and respectful communication appear seriously lacking based on my experience!

My Best Friend and Business Partner is the only way I can honestly describe my relationship with Raz, Polat, and the rest of the Team at Hunters. My wife, Emma and I plan to sell our home, leave the UK and travel the world. Having dealt with many different estate agents over the years; Raz and his Team are the only people that I trust completely to manage my property business. They provide a balanced service for both the tenant and the landlord with a level of service and HONESTY that I have NEVER found in another estate agent or other service provider. Even though they are running a business in a cutthroat industry they are still fair to tenants whilst maximizing my rental income and minimising my repair costs. I come from an accounting and service management background and when the fist introduced the repair / maintenance side of the business I was their worst nightmare. I questioned everything including the fundamental way in which they managed their process. Where other agents would have said goodbye; they listened and improved the process. Recently a not so nice window contractor did a sub-optimal job and a fancy tilt and turn window and Tijen fought to get a full £718.80 refund and when I asked her if she wanted anything for the time she put into the job she replied "No thank you." To me this was above and beyond my expectations given my experience of contractors over my 6 years managing restaurants. Raz manages my London properties which are very nice high end flats but when I have issues with other agents in London or social housing out of London I pop in for a chat and a coffee, which he never lets me pay for. He always advises me on the best course of action to give the optimal solution be it short or long term. When I have asked other estate agents for advice to maximise a capital gain they can only see as far as this years budget with no regard to my bank balance. Raz understands Life, Loyalty and long term goals to give a perfect balance between buy to let income and capital gains that I have never seen before and that includes one of my best friends who is also an estate agent. To me other estate agents appear so focused on this years profit that they just cannot see the big picture. Raz and his team seem like a paradox of everything that I have experienced with estate agents over 10 years managing my property business. Are they perfect? No they are human. But they are dynamic and efficient with every aspect of protecting my business profits and my peace of mind. I'm not sure I can ever thank you enough and hope that my words do you justice.

My friend and I had some requirements for a flat that we wanted to rent and Gokhan was incredibly helpful in giving recommendations taking our considerations into account and arranging viewings. We sadly didn't go with the flat that he showed us but I am grateful nonetheless to him going out of his way to make the process as seamless as it was, something that I have not seen often over my previous letting experiences. Thank you!

lettings fees are very high

For lettings their fees are very expensive. First 3 months of my 450 rent studio flat they took and I did not get anything. When tenant leaves another month will be gone as inventory check is 180 and cleaning in 250 and this is for a studio flat. If i want to cancel the contract i have to pay 900. Stay away.

I have only great things to say about Hunters Middleton branch! From the very first phone call right up to exchanging contacts They have been beyond brilliant. My house sold within 4 days and I was over the moon with the price!Nicole was the shining star for me- she kept in daily contact and was the most reassuring and helpful person every single step of the process. She chased up people when they needed it ensuring the sale moved along at pace. Thank you so much Hunters but especially a massive thank you to Nicole- you have been amazingly!

Disappointed is an understatement..

To say we’re disappointed with the level of communication from the Horncastle Branch with Michael and Susan Noonan is an understatement and the level of service is a far cry from Michael's commitment to customer experience.Researching this branch shows multi-occasions that this activity has happened here.If you’re viewing a property with the intent to buy, don’t expect them to tell you if any other parties are interested. They’ll just pull it from under your feet along with any visions or excitement of a future you had in said house.Viewed a property two weeks ago, following the viewing we had a really positive conversation with Susan in the office expressing great interest, no more than a week later sold to another buyer with no communication. It would have been professional and courteous to reach out to the buyer but more so to the seller, as I’m certain they would like to have known of other interest. Susan and Michael took away any opportunity or chance to put in any offers, resulting in many wasted hours.I wouldn’t usually leave a review; but the tone in which Susan delivered the news was blunt, lacked any sort of empathy and very closed, to date I am still waiting for a reply to my email which I can only assume has been ignored. We will steer clear of this company for future sales and purchases, knowing that their priority doesn’t appear to be with either buyer or seller.Happy to receive a call or email to discuss our experience with you.

Hunters are not interested

Hunters let the house adjacent to ours. There have been multiple pipe leaks around the bathroom causing flooding which in turn is causing damp smells on our side due to the length of time taken to address the issues. It's been repaired after four weeks now within hours water is currently coming through the ceiling next door soaking our party wall and they have told the tennant it's livable no problem.
