As a landlord- Avoid

As a landlord, it has been a horrible experience. In return for charging a 13% commission- tenants get to not pay rent, steal white goods from the property, inspection reports are not done and there is a general lack of care or responsiveness. We were told we need to: chase the tenant, lodge a police report, go to small claims…. All on the landlord. Dexters had arranged a floor to be replaced in the previous tenancy, work was dodgy and then we were asked to pay for the cost to replace again… I asked dexters to chase up with their appointed contractor….. nope - it was up to us to go to our insurer? Or pay again. Avoid.

Horrible experience

I never put review but I want to put this time of my experience to be a good red light for other people don’t rent their property with this agency At the first they found me a horrible tenant as she was a single mum and in the end destroyed everything which gas cooker washing machine dishwasher beds sofa dining table and chairs and also decorations from kitchen till bedrooms and bathroom Got solicitor to rid of them from my home The agency gave me this solicitor from their company which delayed my court hearing 2 months because of the lack of this agency information they supposed to send them all to solicitor on time but they didn’t Didn’t get any support from them because they supported tenant more than me as I paid them £150 every month for all the things I asked but they’ve never done anything correct as I asked for. In the end I asked about deposit which they should discuss with me about that and I found they give deposit back to tenant which I told them I am not happy to give all the deposit back to tenant because she didn’t pay the last rent also, Please do not trust this agency. They just use landlords for their business without help and support

After dealing with other letting agents, it was a breath of fresh air to speak to someone, Myra Mettam, who not only could answer my questions fully, but in doing so, also covered the answers to my next three or four points.It has left me , as a landlord, confident in letting through Dexters, that I will not be falling foul of the seemingly endless new rules and regulations that I could be penalised for breaking

Would not recommend to non full-time landlords

I paid the highest level of management fees as a landlord at 18%. However, they hardly managed anything, especially refused to fix a leak just because it was coming from upstairs. Can't reconcile the fact that a leak in my flat is outside of their management responsibilities given how much they were charging, and dealing with them ended up wasting a lot of my time on a problem I had to fix myself in the end.After I wrote this view they called to clarify that this was under the responsibility of a block management company since the flat I was renting out was a part of a Victorian conversion. This was not communicated at any point during the process.They also communicated the wrong leaving date, overcharged the tenant, gave keys to my new tenant when the old tenant had NOT moved out, and afterward did not fix the problem until I wrote this review.In terms of general experience throughout the 1+ year, I've had about 5 different contacts. Admittedly some were more competent than others but none had any accountability. I would not recommend Dexters to landlords who do not have property rental as their main job. Overall I felt that I was sold a service that was not satisfactory.

Way to pushy!

I chose not to use Dexters to sell my flat. The amount of hassle I got afterwards is unbelievable. I'm leaving this review as I just received yet another phone call asking if the sale has gone through. This is about the 6th call in 2 months, I have never replied any of them and they are still so pushy and disrespectful. Emails too! @Dexters - I just forwarded an email that I sent to our local Dexters for you.

Me and my partner had a great experience finding a flat to rent at Dexters Hackney, especially with help from Nyshaea. From beginning of the process she took her time with the viewing process, giving us some great recommendations in the area. She was able to answer all our questions throughout the referencing and paperwork for securing the flat which even fell into the weekend. Would definitely recommend Dexters for an easy rental process!

Liars - complete disgrace.St John's Wood branch were selling a flat for my partner, found a buyer who was apparently ready to go, mortgage in place etc. After months of poor communication, they emailed stating the deposit was received and contract had been signed.However, this was found to be completely untrue. No response from the company, the agent is now apparently on leave, and no explanation from management. Months wasted and thousands in lost rent.Avoid at all costs and choose a professional company instead.
