Rented a property of them

Rented a property of them . When ww left august30th 2025 we left the place spotless and better condition than when we moved in. Its now mid sept and we still have not got our deposit. Bullshit excuses like the landlord hasnt got an email .the land lord has gone on holiday. The landlords signature was different. Still no return of deposit. We are now starting legal proceedings. My advise is do not deal with this company

Totally shambolic “service” from sharman quinney when dealing with the sale of our house. Particularly Ali Harris who is one of the worst ‘professionals’ we have dealt with in any capacity. We had several issues with Ali which she largely brushed off or ignored. So we raised formal complaint with her manager Chris Rowson who was equally hopeless. Initially Ali was dishonest about sales fees and after agreeing a price she sent us a contract to sign with much higher fees. We had to raise this as a complaint and refused to sign it. There was continuous dishonesty from Ali and others in branch in relation to people they were showing around our house - none were properly vetted and we were lied to about the position of several viewers. After viewings (which we were not allowed to be present for) our property was left unlocked numerous times, which we raised with Ali who yet again provided a useless response and failure to take responsibility for poor service. She would ignore emails and calls. After raising this with her several time we received a hilarious reply stating 'communication has improved' between Sharman Quinney and ourselves, this is hilariously ironic given the fact that both Ali and Harriet ignored our complaint emails for many weeks until I again had to chase this. After this, she then left the office for over 6 weeks without telling us - despite assuring us she was taking the lead on the sale of our property. I would like to also add that at one point, a viewing was arranged on our house. On the morning of the viewing we rang the office numerous times to arrange key drop off, no answer. We then attended the office to find it closed on a Saturday morning. We were ringing round different branches to eventually be told another agent in a different town was dealing with the viewing. Yet another example of poor communication from Sharman Quinney. In addition to this I would say there has been a general theme of poor communication, dishonesty and errors in our dealings with Sharman Quinney. Eventually we agreed a sale but due to sharman quinney failing to do due diligence this feel through resulting in loss of money time and effort. We eventually went with a different agent. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Sharman Quinney Hampton

Sharman Quinney Hampton I don't usually leave reviews, but having worked in estate agency myself and bought and sold several properties over the years, I feel I'm in a position to provide an informed and balanced perspective. I chose Sharman Quinney on a fee of around 1% plus VAT, and unfortunately the level of service I received didn't justify that cost. From the outset there were communication issues. I repeatedly tried calling the branch but couldn't get through. When I visited the office, I mentioned this and was told the phones were working. I then called the branch while standing there and none of the phones rang, clearly showing there was a problem. I was told it would be looked into, but I never received any follow-up. When valuing my property, I was told there was already a list of potential applicants who may be interested. However, as far as I could tell, those applicants were never contacted. Instead, the marketing appeared to rely almost entirely on Rightmove and Zoopla rather than proactive matching from an applicant database. Communication throughout the sale was disappointing. It was often difficult to get calls returned despite leaving voicemails and emails. Viewing feedback was another frustration. Rather than being contacted promptly after viewings, I regularly had to chase for feedback myself, sometimes waiting several days without hearing anything. I was also disappointed with the handling of negotiations. We accepted an offer, only to discover around two weeks later that the buyers were still actively viewing other properties. The negotiator was aware of this but didn't make us aware before we accepted the offer. Had we known, it would have influenced our decision-making. The communication with buyers also appeared lacking. When the buyers requested a second viewing, we declined because we no longer wished to proceed with them. Despite this, the buyers still arrived at our property at the agreed time, suggesting our decision had not been passed on. Once the property was on the market, there was very little proactive contact from the branch unless I initiated it. As a client, I expected more regular updates, even if there had been nothing significant to report. My final concern relates to security. After taking the property off the market, we collected our keys from the branch. We were not asked for any identification, proof of address, or even our names before being handed the keys. Given that these keys provide access to someone's home, I found this extremely concerning and below the standard I would expect from any estate agency. I appreciate that buying and selling property is a complex process and that not every sale runs smoothly. However, my concerns relate primarily to communication, proactivity and basic procedures rather than the outcome itself. Based on my experience, I wouldn't use this branch again and hope this feedback is taken constructively to improve the service for future clients.

Very disappointed with the whole sales…

Very disappointed with the whole sales process. It started even before we entered into the contract, when the papers we were sent for signing had the wrong address for the property we were selling. Apparently the system wouldn’t allow them to select the correct address, but as we didn’t want to be seen to be selling someone else’s property we insisted on it being fixed, and after many emails back and forth it turned out it was in fact possible to update it to the correct address. That was just the beginning. It took several weeks to get the property on the market. The agency then published the wrong photos as well as wrong information about the property itself, which, although we spotted it immediately and asked them to take down the ad until the errors had been corrected, stayed up for another three days. Long enough to put potential buyers off. It then took another week if not more to get the agency to correct the ad (on two occasions one error was removed and another one added) and get it back online. During this period the agency were unresponsive and difficult to get hold of and it seemed as though they only made an effort when pushed. We, on the other hand, were growing impatient to get the property on the market after long delays. When the ad was finally up we noticed that the presentation video made up from the photos of the property, still contained the wrong photos, but by this time we were so fed up we just let it slide. What we really wanted was to move to another agency as soon as possible, but since Sharman Quinney has the longest sole agency period of any agencies we’ve encountered (24 weeks compared to the usual 12 weeks), we had no choice but to remain. In the end the property was not sold, they did not seem to make any efforts to market it but instead sat on their hands and waited for business to come to them. We also had no feedback during the process unless when we asked for it repeatedly, not even when we were told several viewings were booked and the potential buyers cancelled were we informed. It’s the worst agency we’ve dealt with and we were happy when we were finally able to move to a more professional one.

The office was excellent to deal with during the purchase of our house. They were professional in all our conversations with various members of its staff, but one member Harriet Reason went above and beyond in her dealings with us, she was pleasant and kept us informed at all stages and was always willing to find out anything we needed to know. She should be commended for her attitude and helpfulness during our dealing with this office. I would recommend this office and it’s staff if you are selling or buying a property.

Thanks to Emily Meadows and Sharman Quinney Estate Agents in Godmanchester, I finally settled in my dreamt place after I was refused and failed with six attempts in the past to get a flat in Cambridge. The day I spoke with Emily, I felt like being struck by a 'light of luck', I know for that moment, she would truely help me and indeed she quickly matched my requirement with potential flats. I also noticed the team in this branch are very good at negotiating the customer's requirements and situtation with Landlords' requirement. Also the after services Sharman Quinney rendered are also impressive and effective.

House searching

Earlier this year we were searching to buy a property in Oundle and desperate to move to the area. Linda McMullan is an outstanding estate agent. All the agencies we registered with made little to no contact with us and it was down to us to chase them to see if they had new properties coming to the market. This was not the case with Linda. Linda rang us weekly to see how our search was progressing, kept us informed of events happening in Oundle and what properties were coming to the market. She was formidable in our house search and even at the end when we found a property with another agent, Linda kept in touch and helped our transition to moving up to Northamptonshire. Linda is a total professional and with confidence I would happily sell any property via her as I know the service I received as a house seeker was professional, caring and supportive. Thanks very much Linda.

Listed a house no lender will offer…

Listed a house no lender will offer mortgage on due to spray foam insulation rotting risk to the roof timbers. & how can an estate agents, affiliated with Mind mental health, then call my loved one - who is autistic - and proceed to rudely carp at and lecture them ? Why was this necessary? To tell them they were never going to be able to view the house, was never invited to a past open viewing and actually was Raunds really for them. What on earth’s the matter with you? The female making this call is in real need of training and human decency. I hope the regulators remove her rights to practice. What an absolute cretin. Disgusting conduct.

Don't bother. Use anyone else but these. Nothing but hassle from day one. Used them as a management company for my rental property and I might as well have done everything myself. In the end I did it all myself and only kept them as I was signed into a contract. Now the tenant is moving out I am going to a different management company.

Persistent unwanted contact and gazumping

Over the last few months, I’ve been contacted around five times and repeatedly encouraged to make an offer on a property I viewed some time ago in Thrapston. While I was interested initially, the persistent follow-up came across as overly pushy and, if anything, put me off pursuing it further. I was also uncomfortable with what appeared to be an encouragement to gazump another buyer. At one point, I was told that someone had just made an offer that day and contacted to see whether I wanted to submit a higher one. Rather than getting involved in a bidding situation after another buyer had already committed, I wished them the best of luck and declined. Overall, the sales approach felt overly aggressive and left a negative impression.

Excellent customer experience

As a first-time property buyer in the U.K., Chloe was instrumental in guiding us through the process from start to finish. Chloe was helpful during our searches, which ensured we made informed decisions. Chloe kept us informed every step of the way, and any questions we had (of which we had many) were clarified without hesitation or annoyance. There were hiccups along the way that were clearly communicated and resolved promptly. Overall, it was a pleasant and positive experience with Chloe from Sharman Quinney.

Above and beyond - thanks Becky!

We've recently sold our property with the Thrapston branch, and although it was an awful process with a lengthy chain and some terrible solicitors / other agents involved, our experience with Becky was amazing. Becky communicated everything to me, numerous phonecalls and emails on some days, and she was consistently helpful. Becky went above and beyond, and appreciated that moving house is one of the most stressful experiences, and a lot was riding on our sale.

Avoid

I was a first time buyer, buying a house not in a chain and it took 4 months to complete after constant chasing from me! Such slow service, mainly due to the poor attention to detail from the sellers using Sharman Quinney's in house conveyancers. Time after time the contracts had to be amended due to careless errors such as spelling mistakes, wrong names on contract etc. Very frustrating! There was no communication to apologise for the countless delays, the estate agents lost interest in helping me once I had my offer accepted. Would never recommend - avoid.

We have had an incredible, five star experience with Sharman Quinney. Kirsty Turner and Connor Horsman were our agents. From the first phone call I felt like I was in capable hands. They had our house let within a few weeks and with very little effort from us. They have always been quick to respond and always with positive results, always moving forward. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you so much, Kirsty and Connor!
