6 Month Review

Positive Points--------------------The quality of our house is good. The finish and insulation are brilliant, and our home certainly appears well-constructed.Initially, small problems were fixed quickly with no trouble (dents, scratches, paint touchups, etc). Malcolm and Raf were especially brilliant at communicating/sorting.Jackie on the sales team was also friendly and very helpful.Negative Points--------------------With any new-build project, issues can be expected. This review is based on how these were handled (rather than the issues themselves).More complex issues were met with denial, misdirection on actual costs to put you off, lack of apology and were generally poorly managed.Each issue felt like an exhausting fight, rather than two parties working together to solve a problem. Calls/emails to Customer Care often went unanswered and required constant chasing.Decision-makers were unwilling to communicate or have a simple phone call. Often preferring the use of posted letters to respond to emails. Processes designed to make replying as difficult as possible for the customer.The legal team were extremely aggressive/uncaring. When we purchased, it was a seller's market. Interest rates were skyrocketing with huge backlogs/delays faced by all mortgage lenders. Issues beyond our control.Penny Farthing enforced unreasonable timescales, disregarded our concerns, applied excessive pressure, and were in denial about delays faced by lenders.They even put our house back on the market to apply pressure. Just all round rotten tactics.Summary--------------------The quality of our house, and the on-site team would easily have made this a 5/5 review.But the behaviour of their legal / head office team was just inexcusably poor and uncaring.

The customer care throughout my experience of buying a property with pennyfarthing has been second to none. Whitsbury Green First Homes

We are absolutely thrilled with our first home! We were lucky to be selected for one of the first five homes at Whitsbury Green, and the whole process has been smooth sailing from start to finish. Richard in sales has been incredibly helpful and always a friendly face, ready to answer our question, even after we’d moved in. Since moving in, any small snagging issues we had were dealt with promptly, leaving us very happy with the overall experience. Highly recommended!

Unrealistic treatment in poor market conditions

We bought a bungalow at Oakwood Grove and our sister and brother in law tried to buy a property on the same estate but they were dumped just as they were ready to exchange contracts after a difficult couple of chain breaks. Pennyfarthing even withheld some of the reservation fee and cost them thousands in wasted legal fees. No understanding of current market turmoil and difficulty for customers to get to completion. There wasn’t even another customer trying to buy their plot which is still unsold!!

I just cannot rate this any less than 5 stars, we reserved a house at Whitsbuury Green, unfortunately we lost our buyers and the house, but with the help of Richard, he has helped us move into another house on the same site, we are so grateful for this and i believe would never of done this without Richard's help. So thank you so much for all the help and advice you gave us, we love our house and all the neighbours are great, probably never move, quality is fantastic, would definitely recommend to friends and family Xxx

High quality build and excellent customer service

Although I haven't purchased a property from Pennyfarthing Homes, I have viewed their properties at the Potters Wood development in Verwood on several occasions and was extremely impressed by the friendly and professional way I was dealt with by Jacki at that development. She had ready answers to all my questions and explained everything comprehensively. Having relatives who have purchased Pennyfarthing properties in the past, I am aware of the high quality of their builds and the help and support that is available following a purchase.

Great experience all round

We've been in about 6 weeks now and still as happy as they day we moved in. There have been no issues with the house at all and everyone we have dealt with have been helpful and friendly. During the whole sales process Jackie has been incredible and really helped our first time buying experience go as smooth as possible. From the day we moved in Malcolm has looked after us and been helpful and efficient getting the few minor snags taken care of and its been a pleasure to deal with him and his team.

Superb house and extraordinary customer care!

The house is superb, the quality of finishes is spotless, great care to all detailes.From the first day we decided to buy a new house and visited the Pennyfarthing site at Potters Wood, the experience we had with them was fantastic. Jackie and rest of the team of the sales office were very suportive and helpful, always in contact with updates, so every step if the process went smoothly.The house is fantastic, better than expected. Since we moved in, around 6 weeks ago we only found a handfull of minor issues, but thanks to Malcolm from aftersales care and the rest of their team, they were fixed in no time. Malcolm always helpful and very knowledgeable in everything we needed to know.I would strongly recommend Pennyfarthing to anyone who wants a new house.

Great customer service and brilliant aftercare as well. We were first time buyers and buying a new house, so the prospect was all a bit daunting but Jackie, Sina and Judith were all friendly and answered all our questions, plus reassured us through the whole process. The aftercare from them, plus Rafal and Malcolm on the site team has been second to none as well. The belief that new builds are built terribly; full of snags and dodgy electrics is certainly not true for our new home, it’s better than we imagined! Would highly recommend buying a house from Pennyfarthing Homes

We are so pleased with the quality of our new home on the inside and out. The development looks great and a lot of thought has gone into the design of each plot.The sales team were fantastic from start to finish. Jackie, Judith, and Sina were all lovely to talk to and helped make the daunting process of buying a new build easier.The after care was just as good. Malcolm, Rafal and their team looked after us and made sure that any snags we had, which wasn't many and is typical of a new build, were resolved.Even the builders are a friendly bunch and park their vehicles considerately.I'm trying to convince my friends and family to move into the new phase they're building!!Fantastic job Pennyfarthing Homes! They have proven to me that there are good new build developers out there despite all the bad press caused by others.

The thing that sets Pennyfarthing apart from other house builders is their customer care service. Our house has had its fair share of issues, but all have been resolved quickly and to a high standard - Matt from the Customer Care Team is especially worthy of praise, he’s been nothing short of outstanding throughout. My review is with regards to follow up work required due to a leak in my shower.This was due to the workmanship on the original insulationBoth Matt & Carl were both diligent on their work done, always keeping us informed of next stages, to ensuring we were happy with the work undertakenI wish Penny-farthing had 100 more employees like Matt & Chris, then we would not have had the issue in the first instance. Rather than using sun contractors, which the. Sub contract out, thus service and standards are affected.

Problems when rooms are built over the garage.

Design Fault - Cold Dressing Room and En-SuiteDressing Room and En-Suite are built over the garage. Noticeable drop in temperature. Moved in at the end of September 2020. Less than 2 months later found that Dressing Room had a distinct drop in temperature and the En-Suite was absolutely freezing so we could not use it. Thermal imaging showed that there was a lack of insulation.Contacted Customer Services and after months of chasing, during the summer a heater was fitted (I was told the heater had a thermostat but in reality it was like any other heater and has a temperature gauge), and a number of small changes made. However, the bathroom remains very cold in the winter months. In reality, the heater is linked to the bedroom thermostat which does not come on often as the heat from down stairs keep the upstairs at a constant temperature. We were advised to turn the heating up and turn down the heating gauge in the bedrooms. A very expensive way of heating the bathroom! and it does does nothing to heat the freezing floor. As fuel prices are increasing, this is not an option. I would like this problem resolved so I can enjoy my new house.

They've also helped organise & resolve some of the more significant challenging issues with an ongoing leaking shower and chimney issues that a few folks in Fordingbridge have had.
