It would have helped if I had been in attendance with him during his survey. eg The report states no crawl boards yet they were looped on to the upright wall.There was a hatch, easily accessed, to go sub floor.Otherwise very polite, courteous and efficient.

I can't believe that I have to report an incident in such a short time again. I am an business owner and renting the premises through DM Hall. Because of my previous complaint I've been assured that all the issues with the building will be fixed as soon as possible. Nothing happened and the condition of the building is getting worse. Yesterday morning we had a brutal flooding through the roof. I've contacted the person that should deal with our building. No response yesterday and today. Not sure what will happen with the building if it rains again. As a paying customer, I have to admit that your services are shockingly poor.

TrustpilotDM Hall: not recommended for a home valuation report. I stood to lose 15k had I accepted their incompetent valuation
DM Hall were invited to carry out a survey on my property recently. The property was surveyed less than a year earlier and 170k, and subsequently had 20k spent on it. I anticipated a new value of around 175k since I had secured the house under the old valuation. Local houses were selling within days in this area, and generally above reported valuation. The DM Hall surveyor who claimed to be a specialist in another locale, valued the house at 160k. He couldn't fathom that his valuation belied all the comparative valuations per square metre, let alone contemporary market reality.In dealing with my complaint, he acted as judge and jury and would neither entertain considering the evidence of current market prices nor offer a refund for the incompetent service provided. I was provided notification of the appeal process which meant deferring back to him again, which seemed futile. Nonetheless, I did so, and despite DM Hall's appeal process undertaking to reply within a certain timescale, he simply ignored my correspondence. The matter is now heading to the small claims court for adjudication. Of course, the real evidence of whether my valuation complaint was correct is corroborated by the fact that another independent surveyor issued a new home report at 175k, and the market proof is that the house received an offer at that level. DM Hall have reduced their office locations and this lack of direct exposure may be impacting their local market knowledge. Indeed, the DM Hall surveyor suggested that he needed to talk to estate agents before fixing a valuation, thus indicating that his own knowledge was not intrinsic. I strongly advise you to contract the services of other surveyors within Ayrshire if your hoping to receive a realistic market value for your property as this service was not only incompetent, but the appeal process is nonexistent. I paid £510 for the service and refused to sign off on the incompetent valuation. Had I accepted the valuation, my position would have been far worse as I stood to lose £15,000. Both in hard cash and percentage wise, it is a significant loss. My recommendation to others is that they save themselves the potential upset and requirement for legal action and select more judiciously than I did at first. I chose on the basis of DM Halls' immediate availability, but perhaps that availability should have been more of a red flag. Good services potentially commend higher demand.

Home report completed by this company valued my property at less than it was 3 years ago despite improvements such as a new bathroom, fencing, flooring etc and a very competitive market in my area. They claimed they could not value it higher simply because 'no other property in the street had been valued at that'. Issues flagged in the home report included this company stating fencing that is just over a year old has 'wear and tear'. Also a 2 and 1/2 year old bathroom being numbered as 2 because of an old water storage tank. There are more examples of where the surveyor has found flaw were previous surveys have not. When I asked for their professional quality assurance processes I was ignored. I am therefore very displeased with the survey carried out and the dismissive manner in which I have been spoken to by the surveyor who carried out it out.UPDATE nearly 3 weeks later and despite promises of a 'valuation review' no nearer having a home report so I can market my home properly. Communication has been poor and unhelpful. AVOID USING THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS
