Each member of staff we dealt with throughout the process were exceptionally professional and couldn't do more to help us through a fairly tricky sale and purchase. For me, a key component of a great agency is the clarity of communication and these guys couldn't do more to investigate every avenue and keep us completely updated the whole way through the process.

GoogleRecently sold a property using this estate agency. So why then the low rating, well, sometimes the journey to sale doesn’t go as expected! Started off reasonably enough but sadly fell away. Following requests to modify the sales brochure it soon became obvious that the level of attention to detail fell below that which should reasonably expected, and they seemed somewhat affronted that changes were being requested! On one occasion we were told it couldn’t be changed as “that’s how our printer likes it” Simple requests to repaginate the layout and ensure text was of even size whilst ensuring particulars reflected the property were eventually achieved for an acceptable brochure, 4th version. Several viewings followed and we were pleased with the level of response. A similar lack of attention to detail applied to the “contract” which when received did not reflect the verbally agreed period of contract. This was to be fair resolved by us amending the contracts before signing but expected more professional approach in the first place. However, following the EPC survey at the property, what should have been a simple to resolve client raised issued became far more personal and use of aggressive tones than was necessary. It took one of the property owners to enlighten the agent as to how the situation arose, which in fairness the agent did agree with, but even then there was no contrition or apology for the misunderstanding or their reaction. Things progressed and an offer made and following acceptance of this a survey was undertaken on behalf of the prospective buyers. Immediately after this survey the property being sold was visited by one of the owners, purely by chance, on arrival it was found the property had NOT been fully secured and not left in a manner as agreed with the agent. When this was raised with the agent there was an apology but to date no further feedback has been provided to a request that a full explanation be obtained from the surveyor, whom it seems was known to the agent, be made. Also, the survey undertaken, was, as advised by the agent, to have been a non-invasive version, yet a hole had been pushed through a ceiling, this was challenged with the agent but again no response or explanation to date as to why this had been done. In dealing with the agent communications were, at times, quite abrupt and certainly not the professional standard to be expected, at times the agent attitude could easily be described as rude. They would do well to remember who their client is and ultimately where their fee is provided. Furthermore, in line with similar reviews it was difficult to determine who their client was, a tendency to favour the prospective buyer was evident. In addition they wanted to get involved in issues which were, and are, rightly left to the legal teams. Buying and selling of property is never a straight forward process so one would expect better of those who operate in the business of selling property and to act in an appropriate manner and utilise their experience to make the process as smooth as possible and to act in a professional manner to enhance their business. No doubt the response to this review will, like with other reviews, consist of denials and seek to shift blame back. Part of being in business, or for that matter any role, is to accept feedback either good or bad, learn from it and improve, not take offensive or be offensive in responses.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism
Dear C S, I have tried to call you reference you comments not to my surprise you sent me to voicemail. Clearly disappointed by this review, we achieved £17,500 over the asking price, the property was sold within 10 days of marketing with various offers and completed within 7 weeks of instruction. There were issues with third parties, ie a surveyor left the property unlocked as to which we apologies for (no connection to Daniel Brewer), Yes the EPC surveyor did lock two doors rather than one door. With reference to the details we have checked our email records and only had one email regarding amendments and a further email to confirm instructions to market. You mentioned this to be constructive but surely a more constructive way would have been to contact us to direct, there was no mention of this during the transaction barr the fall out with your sister as she was rude to our staff on various occasions. I would also like to point out you failed to have keys with us on the day of completion and had locked the door we had always been instructed to leave open. Sometimes you can't please everyone. Andy knows Dunmow and the surrounding area like no other agent and therefore you get a huge amount of local knowledge, experience and good advice. Born and bred - Dunmow runs through his blood! On a practical level, the team were professional, polite and always did what they said they would, when they would. This was really important to me as there is nothing worse than an agent who seems to forget you or appear to lose interest. In my experience, selling/buying a house is a two way street and agents often get blamed for things beyond their control so it is important to have an honest and proactive relationship with your agent - an easy thing to do with this company.PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism

GoogleWas perfectly smooth and friendly to deal with at the start of the tenancy and getting us sorted. At the end of the tenancy, extremely rude to us and unhelpful. Called my partner during work and was trying to force us into not disputing our deposit when we had every right to and threatened that it would go on for months if we didn’t agree to it. Told us they had no part to play in the property or deposit and to deal direct with landlord but then calls us to discuss the deposit??? I say discuss but really it was just a case of them trying to scare us into agreeing to unreasonable fees and say we were being unreasonable. I thought letting agents were supposed to be impartial but according to this estate agents, they only care about the landlords and not the tenants that let through them. Will not be dealing with this estate agents again.NegativeProfessionalism
Dear Maddie, Clearly we are sad to see such a review. I would like to point out we were only instructed to carry out a tenant find on the property in question, we did not manage the property and therefor are not involved at the check out stage. We can only take clients instructions once an inspection has been carried out. The dispute over the deposit falls between yourself and the landlord, we do not benefit in anyway from disputes over deposits and are impartial there is no financial benefit to us. As you are aware your dispute is still ongoing and being handled by Deposit Protection Service we merely take instructions and submit the evidence supplied by the owner to them through our portal. We will always do our best to resolve an issue prior to them being involved, clearly in this situation that wasn't possible. GoogleHaving had an offer accepted on a property (we were buying) and to be told "CONGRATULATIONS", regarding our offer acceptance . We were then told that there was now another offer and would now go to highest bids.. They clearly reneged on the deal disgusting behaviour , greedy and extremely immoral all round . Most. UNPROFESSIINAL !!!
Clearly we are disappointed to read your review. Sadly as an agent when multiple offers are received someone has to lose out, this is not part of the job we enjoy! I would like to point out that by law we have to disclose all offers to our clients up until the day of exchange of contracts. I can assure you we do not condone gazumping or bidding wars but in the current climate and the way the market has been, the fairest way to resolve situations like this is asking for best offers. It wasn't the case that we were looking for best and final offers at the stage we contacted yourself but merely giving you the opportunity to increase your offer as we had received a higher offer that our seller was inclined to accept. I'd like to add that there were no further viewings at the property, this was someone who viewed the property the same day as yourselves. I appreciate your frustration but would like to point out that with regards to this specific property we were working on a fixed fee basis so the figure in which the property sold for had no benefit to ourselves. Please bear in mind your writing about people who are trying the best in a particularly challenging market, if you would like to discuss the matter further please feel free to contact me in the office or via email on andy@danielbrewer.co.uk Once again I apologise if you feel the negotiation wasn't handled in the correct fashion but sadly until the government change the system gazumping and bidding wars will remain part of the industry we work in, we would welcome the change as much as you would.
