Very underwhelmed by their service, called into their Theydon Bois office last Saturday 28/5 only to be told they had no one to speak to me regarding a property they had for sale. The receptionist (only one in the office as far as I could tell) took my phone No and email address and assured me someone would contact me the following Monday nobody bothered to contact me! I feel they must be doing really well when they can afford to leave their office virtually unmanned on what could be their busiest day for walk in trade, more so if they can let a prospective buyer slip through their fingers, I've also a property to sell so that's another lot of commission they probably don't want either

Several road closures and mass crowds meant that our viewing customers and staff were delayed for significant periods throughout the day. Some staff also had issues arriving to work as various roads were closed (without warning) this despite the significant planning that we felt was required to avoid issues like the one you experienced.Please contact us by phone 01992 667 666 or email theydon@butlerandstag.com to discuss your move. B&S sold my property professionally and with very responsive communication which I like. They were always there quickly to discuss things and give me strong advice. My property was non-standard as it was timber framed however they have good experience with this and I believe that their access to the London market helped get the sale.In the final week when paperwork issues arose from the solicitors, they were on it every day and pushing hard to make the completion happen.Well done team!

I have just completed on a Property purchased from the team at Butler and Stag, from the very offset meeting Chris the office manager at the Property for the viewing. I have found the team to be extremely professional with regular calls from Amanda during the process keeping things on track. Calls and emails are always answered in a timely manner.As a result of the service I received from the Sales Team headed up by Tony again very prompt at dealing with queries, I decided to ask Wayne from the rental team to source a tenant which again they have done. Again very professional keeping me in the loop at all times which resulted in sourcing an excellent tenant who moved in a day after completion.Highly recommend this team great work guys keep up the good work.

I'm genuinely astonished by the positive reviews on here. My experience with Butler and Stag was a nightmare from start to finish. Perhaps the experience is positive for landlords, but as a tenant this was amongst the worst service I have ever experienced. When I went to look at the property it was being renovated and I was assured it would be finished by the time I moved in (which was three months away so I didn't think this would be too difficult). However, when I moved into the property there were no white goods in place, no lightbulbs, no heating (which initially was the case for around 3 months in the middle of winter), the wiring was not complete and the flat was filthy. This happened despite me having called and emailed multiple times to check things were in order, and being told it would be ready for me to move into. After moving in, I was constantly trying to sort things out to no avail, and they refused to negotiate a rent discount (even though, in my opinion, the flat was not fit to live in). When it came to moving out of the flat, they wanted to take deposit off me for cleaning (the flat was in a much better state than when I arrived, as evidenced by their own itinerary), a carbon monoxide monitor that had never been installed and had been left in a pile of rubbish (again evidenced), for one replacement lightbulb (there were zero in the whole flat when I arrived - I had to borrow one from next door) and for the marks their white goods installers had left on the wall (to be fair I didn't have evidence for this, but it was still annoying and felt like I was being robbed).The whole thing was incredibly stressful, and I wish I had never been anywhere near this company. It was such a shame, because the flat itself was beautiful, but was ruined by such an awful experience.

I am disappointed to hear that you have had to face such difficulties with Butler & Stag and want to extend our sincerest apologies concerning all of those issued you have faced. As you can see from our other reviews, Butler & Stag take pride in maintaining the highest quality of customer service for all our clients whether that be landlords or tenants. I completely sympathise with you in relation to the issues you had reported and understand how frustrating this may have been at times. After looking into the notes on our system I can see that each issue that you reported was dealt with in an efficient manner and the relevant contractors were instructed to attend and rectify, in particular the heating issue. Unfortunately, instances do occur where replacement parts need to be ordered or machinery hired in order for the works to be completed so this may have caused a slight delay. In relation to the end of your tenancy the landlord acknowledged that due to the issues you had experienced he would not be expecting you to pay for a professional clean. However, it was expected that the oven (which was replaced with new at the start of the tenancy) to be left in a clean condition. I believe my colleague Melisha was able to negotiate with the landlord in relation to the deductions that were initially proposed and the only costs you were charged for were the oven clean and the damage to the walls which had been freshly painted at the start of the tenancy. Our Property Managers we are here to mediate between yourself and the landlord, however, there is only so much we can do to rectify such matters as ultimately, we are empowered by the landlord. We sincerely apologise once again for the experience you have had with Butler & Stag and can assure you that your feedback will be used to improve the level of service we provide going forward.
