What can I say about Barnard Marcus?

From making a call to the office and booking the valuation of our property, the service provided to us has been exemplary.A very professional young lady arrived to carry out the valuation and it was recommended to delay listing as we were very close to Christmas. This did not delay Barnard Marcus in arranging viewing appointments from the very next day.Two very able and competent young ladies were put in charge of selling our flat and there was no slacking in arranging appointment after appointment. As many as three on some Saturdays. One young lady moved on from the company, but Shahana stayed and continued doing her very best to get our property sold.We feel her selling skills were really put to the test with our home and she eventually found a buyer who was just right for it. We are pleased to have procured the services of Barnard Marcus to sell our home and particularly Shahana for her expertise and professionalism and would be more than happy to recommend their services to everyone selling their property.A big thank you to Barnard Marcus and a big thumbs up to Shahana for all her professional help and guidance during the processMassive thumbs up & well done to all

Kecia Sales Progression

Kecia in sales progression was 100% the most outstanding and professional link in our chain, without whom exchange of contracts this afternoon would not have happened. Thank you Kecia for keeping us updated the whole way through, you have no idea how much your efforts were appreciated.

Priscilla Mohanarajah-Mortgage Advisor

Priscilla Mohanarajah is an exceptional mortgage advisor who delivers. I was advised to use Priscilla, and so broke my rule of always seeking three quotes. I am glad I did break the rule because from the start of the finish of getting the mortgage offer Priscilla has shown a strong awareness of lender requirements, timescales and strong points. She is responsive, hardworking, and experienced. She also has extensive contacts - not just in property sales but in other sectors too. If you are seeking someone to source your mortgage for you, then I can happily recommend that you use Priscilla Mohanarajah. Mr C, Wimbledon

β€˜The Barnard Marcus sales team were…

β€˜The Barnard Marcus sales team were extremely professional and did an absolutely fantastic job in selling my property. Not only that, they were able to get me over the asking price! A special thank you to Aaron, Evan, Ajay and Kecia who helped me throughout this process. The sales team were always able to help me when needed and they were very effective in their work. I would highly recommend using Barnard Marcus if you are looking to buy or sell a property. Thank you ever so much.

Positive experience

I have read all the bad reviews but have to say that this was not my experience. From the first viewing to the final exchange of contract, Jake was always helpful and friendly. Was always available, answered all my questions and dealt smoothly with any hiccups. I am very happy in my new home

I can't rate highly enough!

I can't rate Jamie and the team highly enough. They have been honest, helpful, professional and most of all did what they promised and sold my property for very near asking price. And within a week of going to market. My circumstances unfortunately changed and I had to pull out of the sale. I felt terrible about this but Jamie's reaction was very professional and understanding. I would definitely use them again in the future and would definitely recommend. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Bad service from 2019 to 2021

From 2019:I had a terrible experience with this office. We found a beautiful flat that we ended up letting but the process was terrible.Kirsty was our "agent" but she pretty much ignore us the entire time. She was over an hour late to the viewing, no email, no phonecall, nothing. We were able to see the flat because the tenant at the time was nice enough to let us in. He also complain to us about her tendency to be late and never inform the visitors or himself. After we decided to get the flat, we went through a very difficult process because of lack of comunication. We didnt receive any information or support during this time, we ended up having to expend aditional money on the move because we had to organize the entire thing last minute. (We were pretty much told the day befoee we had to move and this was after weeks of ignored phonecalls and emails)All our emails requesting information and help were ignored, our calls were ignore too and the few times she answer her tone and treatment was rather rude.Even asking for a small change in our contract has been a difficult process!! Emails are totally ignore, i had to call four times to try to get someone on the phone just to be told to leave my information for them to call back (they did not)Basically, great properties but be prepare for a horrible costumer experience and indeference to any type of comunication or questions.Joshua was really nice and helpful though, sadly he wasnt the one helping us directly. For 2021:Its been over a year since the issue above and I am sad to say the one star still applies. We have a wonderful property and a great landlord but I am baffle by the lack of professionalism and support from banard Marcus, at least from the tenant side.Since November I have been chasing them to make an amendment to my contract. Kirsty avoided my emails and calls the same way she did last year so after a month I had to pretty much beg to be given someone else to help me take care of this.Joshua was very nice and polite and connect me with the person who should amend the contract, it’s been weeks and still nothing though. I was told that the contract was sent to the landlord but this doesn’t seams to be true and he says he didn’t received anything.I just lost a family member due to the pandemic, I just want to focus on my family but I can’t because the banard marcus team simple seems to refuse to fulfil their commitment and help fix something they should have done back in November when I first contact them.

Terrible service

Terrible service. Booked a viewing and was left waiting for 45 mins at reception. After many phonecalls to lettings- which rang out, I called sales who got in touch with Nick from Wellington who was the person I booked wifh. Then was told they forgot the viewing. The concierge showed us around the flat (reluctantly after much persuasion) and it had been left in a terrible state. Poo in the toilet, thick grease all over oven. It was also not even the same flat as in the photographs so our time was totally wasted.

very bad and unethical estate agent

If I can get a zero start, I will raise them. What I can say that is a very bad and unethical estate agent. As a customer to buy an auction, they advertised the property on behalf of their client 365 Asset Management was freehold but it turned out it is a very long leasehold. I still got a paper what they advitersed on their website. As a result, I have to pay rent and service charges and many problems surrounding this lease, causing me exceptional circumstances.I complaint to the Property Ombudsman and at least my matter and concerns have heard. Stay away this agent at all costs and do not go to their auction because they are a real cheating agent.

What a bunch of cowboys. Utterly useless.

What a bunch of cowboys. Listed with Barnard Marcus, Epsom, who brought round the Chinese 'buyers', and then stopped marketing it. The Chinese 'buyers' made no offer and were complete timewasters. I agreed to use IAMSOLD to auction it, and they did no marketing either, and when I gave them notice, they pressured me to sell at auction, with only one bidder! That would be a sale not an auction - doh! I gave notice to Barnard Marcus, and not only do they not have the decency to take our property off the market, they refuse to even discuss it.There are no complaints procedures, as with all sequence home companies, so all of the group have dreadful feedback. My opinion is that they are amoral, utterly disreputable cowboys, with no intention of selling any properties, and the sooner they go bust, the better.

No idea whatsoever

I used the letting service in Clapham for seven years. I bitterly regret not changing in the first year. 1) The property management section was useless. There was no relationship with plumbers/electricians/other contractors. Only one quote was ever given unless I objected. If the same job had to be redone a few months later the same contractor would be used with no question of querying the quality of the first job. The property manager changed regularly - I communicated with 11 in the course of 7 years. Three months after they took over the flat they recommended replacing a 'broken' blind (it had got stuck) and changing two of the mattresses. The woman I spoke to had no idea that the flat was a new build with new furniture and fittings or even what condition it was in. 'Replace it' was always the answer. We had several leaks in the flat but no one ever telephoned or texted - an email would be sent with the message, 'How would you like us to proceed?' Urgency was an alien concept. When we finally took over the flat it was a mess, with several outstanding jobs to be done including the repair of the balcony doors, which had been an issue for over two years. It was sorted in two weeks. If there was a problem over a bank holiday weekend or Christmas there was never anyone to deal with it. Finally, the agency was unable to do an effective handover of the utilities when the tenants moved out. There were no meter readings and it took repeated emails to find out the names of the suppliers. They were uninterested in ensuring I got all four sets of keys back from the tenants. I gave up chasing them and changed the locks.2) The actual letting service was efficient in that we rarely had more than a few days between tenants but the information was dire. We were never advised what costs would be incurred. We had to fight for a rebate where we had been charged wrongly. Letting conversations hinged round how quickly they could do a deal which often meant they advised a reduction in rent which we didn't always agree with. We ended up securing less rent than other landlords in the same block who also had no problem with voids. One woman in the lettings office said she recommended a low rent because then the flat would be let before Christmas which was good for us and she would get a bonus.I've let a house and a flat with other companies and these are the worst agents I have ever encountered.

Worst All round Service Ever Experience

We began the process of purchasing our first property in Aug. 2019. We were hesitant because of the unprofessional Barnard Marcus Estate Agent but prepared to look past this. Then the brand new property had a flood. The BM Estate Agent ensured that the necessary fixes will be made. We wanted to utilise the Help2Buy Scheme before it expired so we payed the Β£500 refundable reservation fee and the Β£650 to begin the Barnard Marcus buying process fee. A month later the leak wasn't sorted and we wanted to back out of this process as the Service provided by Barnard Marcus Epsom Branch was further declining! None of the surrounding properties were sold and the Estate Agent, was not responding to emails/calls. Then the Barnard Marcus Mortgage Broker resigned without notifying us and all of our records no longer existed! We contacted the CLC Lawyers, recommended by Barnard Marcus, who told us they couldn't assist us as are not purchasing the building. It is almost Feb 2020 and nothing is resolved, we haven't received our money back or even a returned phone call/email, we have been into the branch numerous times with no resolution. We feel robbed & scammed.

Absolutely Unprofessional

Absolutely Unprofessional! Would never recommend. We pulled out of a property due to it having mould, they offered to get some of it taken care of but not all. The property was not in good condition. Fire place broken, lights and curtains broken. No handover to inform us of any of this. Gave us keys before do an inventory check. We gave the keys right back after seeing the mould. Had already paid 5 weeks deposit and 1 months rent in full. Its been nearly 4 weeks without a refund. They have not responded to emails and never contact us, we have to call the office every time. Contacted TDS and was informed to get legal advise. The sad part is most of this could have been processed or received better by means of communication. The Agent was Nana AkotoI woulds advise not to use him or the branch in Elephant & Castle area

Chloe and Barnard Marcus

Chloe was incredibly responsive to texts and emails, staying in touch and tending to details throughout my rental process. She made what can be a difficult process much easier. Would highly recommend her services.

Don't trust anyone from Barnard Marcus

Don't trust anyone from Barnard Marcus. What they say to you will be very different to the reality. They blamed the tenant (to the landlord concerned) for not giving access to the property for sales viewings; when the reality was their inability to find prospective buyers. They would ring the tenant again and again asking to view the property in 2 hours knowing that was usually unacceptable to most people. And when the tenant said come tomorrow and not in 2 hours, Barnard Marcus said no as there weren't any prospective buyers at all. Do not trust Barnard Marcus.

holding deposit taken before offer submission, property stayed advertised, deposit retained

The agent told us we had to pay a holding deposit before they would even submit our offer. We paid to proceed, yet the property was never taken off the market and continued to be advertised on Rightmove/Zoopla throughout (dated screenshots available).

I don't even know where to begin this…

I don't even know where to begin this is the worst agency i never seen in my life. The lady called mouna that works in Finchley branch showed use a house in 8 Darcy close N20 we put an offer and the landlord accepted the offer. after 1 months of waiting for them to do the reference we received a call from somebody else in the office telling us the landlord have given the house to his brother which is the lie and mouna she did not have the audacity to tell us what is going on but she sent her colleague to do her dirty work. I now contact another agency that's is advertising the same property and the agency gave me the landlord number. I called the landlord and the landlord told me the same agency Bernard Marcus found somebody for the asking price. What makes me angry is this particular agency took our deposit wasted our time for one month and end of the day they didn't give us a chance to know whether we want to increase our offer or not. Please people don't deal with this agency called BERNARD MARCUS because it's going to be a waste of time. Lucky for us we found a honest guy his name is David that works for SQUARE ESTATES very professional once the landlord accepts our offer everything went fine within one week our reference came out and now we have moved into the property without any problem thank you David for everything. Please people if you want to rent a place contact David he works for SQUARE ESTATES in Finchley.

Just answer the question!

Despite repeated requests to send me the lease to review (potential leasehold flat purchase) I was just met with silly questions culminating in "which section of the lease would you like to see?". How am I supposed to know what sections there are if I don't have the document? It's no good telling me the service charge pays for the gardener etc. I want to see the legal clauses so I can understand what recourse I have if they don't keep up their end. Why would anyone consider making an offer without having this knowledge? First time considering leasehold, my last email asked for the full document or an admission they don't have it. Silence. Clearly not that interested in selling their client's properties (Epsom branch). Quite stunning.

The Turnham Green branch was completely…

The Turnham Green branch was completely awful - avoid. Our buyers' experience with them was so poor that they told us multiple times they were on the verge of pulling out of the sale altogether, causing us a lot of stress. Appointments were forgotten about, leaving our buyers waiting around wondering if anyone would turn up. They were given incorrect information about the lease and ground rent.Barnard Marcus also took advantage of the fact we were first time sellers. They promised us a refund on 50% of our Purplebricks fees, but when it came to the refund being paid out, they pointed us to some small print that was carefully hidden during the sales process and refused to honour their promise.

Appalling! Avoid their customer service is shocking! Avoid especially Ben Almon who should be in the circus instead!

My experience has been appalling. This could be because of Ben Albon who’s not fit for the job. I regret doing any type of business with this agency. He should find alternative employment as the circus is where he belongs. I hope they release me from my contract. I can’t stand how he operates. I always keep my business relationships but I can’t stand this unprofessional man child. Any professional will let me out of my contract if a customer is unhappy but this Napoleon figure is keeping me tied in. I hope someone senior steps in as he is not fit for purpose. He has no customer service skills and I believe is actually working against me during the process.

Unprofessional and expensive

I rented a place with them in 2017 and was first happy with the service the agent provided when looking for flats. There were several things I did not like at the beginning, e.g. they promised a professionally cleaned flat (which was not the case - there were cat hairs everywhere from the previous tenant).Worst of all: I think their fees are too high: Β£210 tenancy agreement, Β£120 reference charge and inventory check Β£180 - thats a total of over Β£500 - for what exactly? If I had extended my rental contract, they would have charged another Β£150 contract extension fee - for re-printing the contract.I would avoid them by all means!

Fantastic Service from Demi at Chiswick branch

Demi at the Chiswick office was enthusiastic, obliging and went out of her way to get this deal done. This was a probate sale and there were various "hiccups" along the way. Demi chased outside contractors, liaised between parties, negotiated and pushed the deal to a successful and early completion. And all with a cheerful smile and boundless energy. Thank you Demi so much!
