Selling our house through Douglas Allen (Chingford)has run really smoothly from the moment Jess walked into our house and fully explained everything to us we opted for a 6 week sealed bids process to which Caitlin and Jake showed the viewings around on open days making it stress free for us as we had days out as a family. The day soon come round to open our sealed bids and that evening we celebrated our offer to which we were majorly happy with,everything has been quite exiting!The team at Douglas Allen are all really approachable and understand the importance of communication and are always happy to reassure or give helpful advice on the other end of the phone, James has a brilliant team and this stems from himself demonstrating how he wants things put into practice. Thank you all for all your work so far and here's to the future!

Hainault property

Sarah at the Chigwell office was fantastic at selling our house and we sold within 2 weeks and respected our home as much as we did. Thank you for all your hard work ! The selling portal on the website was also very useful to track right move status, comments after viewings etc. The house was marketed at the right clientele and there was definitely an advantage of having a number of offices being able to hand out the details to expand the reach. As a form of improvement, Douglas Allen as a company could look at the after sales care and perhaps offer a similar platform as their selling portal to update you through the process from accepting the offer through to completion. This would help greatly when members of the after sales team are on holiday. All in all I would recommend Douglas allen to friends and family.

House sold at over asking price during first viewing

10/10 and exceeded expectations ! Having not sold a house for over 30 years we were very wary of Estate Agents. Especially when Matthew valued our house at far more than other agents, and the commission was also higher. However the Douglas Allen Web Site looked better than that of other agents, and working on the principle that you get what you paid for, we signed up for a sole agency with Katie. She was very patient and spent ages going through the options with us, ensuring we were happy.The third couple to view the property on the first weekend of viewing came back and made a good offer that we were pleased to accept. All conveyancing went promptly, helped along by dedicated Sales Progessor Tanya. We have now exchanged and will be completing at end of month. Can't believe it all went so well. Many thanks.

Walthamstow Branch: Not recommended. Bad experience.

When we first met Maria for our valuation we were initially impressed. She was chatty, lively and seemed like she cared about us and our desire to move to a bigger home (by selling our one). She valued our property at a comparable rate to the other two agents we met and, although the most expensive of the three, we decided that following our discussion her, Douglas Allen were the ones to work with us to sell our home. They even tempted us with an ‘early view’ of a property they thought we’d like. After that it went downhill.Despite putting a bid on the ‘early view’ property, nothing ever materialised. But they never told me the offer was rejected. It took multiple phone calls and chases for them to finally tell me that the owners were actually unlikely to sell. They talked up their ‘innovative’ online management system, where we could monitor feedback and bids, but we did not receive ONE call from them updating us post viewing. Not one. I had to call in for updates every single time and several times left messages that went unanswered, prompting further calls. Not good. Looking back, with hindsight, they also rushed us through the contract stage and although didn’t wilfully hide anything from us, were not very open about contract lengths, (5 MONTHS!) cooling off periods and fees (calculated as a % but then written in to the contract as a set fee). I had multiple ‘heated discussions’ with Maria about their lack of willing to work with us on property pricing. Whilst they kept telling us they thought we should drop the price of our property to get a sale, they weren’t willing to lower their fixed fee. I was expected to drop my house price by tens of thousands, but they were willing to budge on their fees. Not really collaborative. It only got resolved as we neared the contract end date and I threatened to see out the contract without dropping the price. All very stressful. Terms liked ‘threatened’, ‘unwilling’ ‘heated’ ‘stressful’ are the last things you want when selling your home. It’s stressfulEnough and a good estate agent can help mitigate that stress (or so I’ve heard). Working with Douglas Allen made the entire experience worse than it should have been. I would like to say the interactions I had with Ben Ryan, one of the agents who showed our house to people, were always positive and friendly and should he move to a different agency, I would happily work with him again. But that’s the only positive I can say. I honestly would struggle to recommend an estate agent less, and would strongly advise anyone considering to work with them to look at this review and consider their choice again.

Gizem @ Chadwell Heath - The perfect example of how an estate agent should be!

I have dealt with a number of different estate agents when looking for a home, and i can honestly say Douglas Allen was, by far, better in every aspect. They remained professional and informative, which put me at ease thoroughout the entire process. Gizem in particular was helpful from the very first viewing all the way through to completion. She kept me posted throughout and made every extra effort to fit additional viewings around my busy schedule. She was honest & friendly, and did not come across 'too hungry' (unlike other agents) which quickly built up trust - this was invaluable for a first time buyer.

My house took several weeks to sell despite a fairly large number of people come to view. In the end i dropped my house price as after several weeks and several discussions with the team at Douglas Allen I felt my house was priced a little high, this did not help as there was also competition in the same road as mine when a neighbour also put her house on the market the same week as me at a considerable lower price. After Sales team was also excellent.

I want to share how impressed we are with Natasha Facer and the fantastic support, advice, guidance she has provided, and is still providing, in relation to the sale of our property. Her professionalism, patience and support has been second to none. From our first meeting with Natasha we knew we were in good hands. I would also like to thank peter arrowsmith in hornchurch branch.We wasted a few months with a previous agent, very dissapoiting low viewers over the months. Then I changed to use Douglas Alan and another agent. My property had only 2 days of viewers then sold! So peter came along, very friendly, laid back, understanding, positive and professional. Each time I contacted him or had questions, he was very clear and helpful. People like him really does make a difference, not too serious, pressurised or being competitive, so more relaxed and trustworthy.In the end of the completion day, I was running so late 4pm to hand the keys over to him and he did not stress, complain or rush me at all, which definitely was a bonus!I really appreciate and very glad we had chosen Douglas Alan. Matthew, the Branch Manager, was extremely friendly and helpful from the beginning of the process through to the end. We were always kept in the loop and felt we were in safe hands. Well worth that little bit more!

We are both 71 yrs old and were looking to buy and sell a house. By chance we walked into Douglas Allen's Chingford office. We had been told they might be a bit more expensive, but gave a good service. We were welcomed by a very friendly bunch of people who quickly put us at ease. They efficiently run through our options, and we settled for the one that best met our requirements. We are so pleased we choose this office, the service has been excellent from the start and the whole way through. The team are - Jake on front desk, courteous, polite, well dressed and a big smile, Jessica (Sales) super efficient, knowledgeable, informative, and very sympathetic to our needs, Natasha (co-ordinator & liaison) always on the ball, kept all parties well informed, she especially impressed the couple who's house we were buying. Great finishers

The Walthamstow real-estate agent that sold me our first ever home (summer 2017). While as first time buyers it took us a while to get a rhythm of the time frames involved, we quickly realised that Douglas Allen was doing an amazing job at managing a very awkward seller for us. Likewise the property would not have completed without the dogged efforts of their sales progressor Andrew Bilby who almost single handedly shepherded through a VERY complex restriction on title issue with the local borough and their representatives - going above and beyond to get the sale completed. Not always a easy journey but would recommend the East Ham and Walthamstow Douglas Allen team to anyone.

Pleaseantly surprised

Once I found the house I liked, I exchanged in just over a month - which was so quick it took me by surprise. Douglas Allen provided me with a lovely staff member called Tanya Keene to act as a "go between" my solicitors and my sellers solicitors. She was polite, efficient, always answered calls and kept things moving - I rarely needed to chase anything, it was all done for me. I found this process was far less stressful than I expected but that was mainly down to the professionalism of Tanya.

We are first time buyers. Our agent Katie, truly understood exactly what we wanted for our first home. So much so,after only three viewings, we put an offer on the first house we ever saw!
