GoogleOur experience with Village Estates was nothing short of frustrating from start to finish. Throughout our tenancy, their communication was consistently awful, emails would go unanswered unless we chased multiple times, and even when calling the office, we were repeatedly promised call backs that never happened.
The worst part came at the end of our tenancy when we were caught in a deposit dispute with our landlord. Village Estates handled the situation terribly, making it clear they were more concerned with keeping the landlord happy than being fair to us. They told us we would likely lose the dispute and pressured us into accepting deductions we knew were unfair. As first-time renters, it felt like they were using scaremongering tactics to push us into giving up our deposit rather than supporting us.
Despite their insistence, we stood our ground and took the case to an adjudicator, who ruled in our favour based on the evidence. This only confirmed what we suspected all along: Village Estates had no real basis for their claims and were simply trying to make things easier for the landlord at our expense.
I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. If you're renting through them, be prepared to fight for fair treatment because they certainly won’t do it for you.

With the uncertainty surrounding house moves during Covid it was paramount that we had a team that were not only safe and responsive but honest and trust worthy. Village estates in Elstree delivered that in abundance. We’ve had some very average experiences with estate agents but Phil Merrit and his team delivered an exceptional service.
Excellent communication and extremely knowledgeable with regards to the structural details of each property we viewed.
If we ever move again in and around that area there’s only one estate agents we will be calling.

We made a big move from Borehamwood down to Dorset in a very unstable market. We had already moved down into temporary accommodation for the kids to start school when the unthinkable happened and our whole chain collapsed right at the last hurdle.
Within a week from the awful news and what felt like our world ending. Phil (from his hospital bed!), Jack, Sarah and Chelsey went into action and managed to secure a new buyer at the bottom of the chain.
We completed two and a half weeks later (one week before Christmas) and our new life in our new home began all thanks to Villiage Estates and their determination to see the job through.
We can’t thank you enough guys and wish you all the best in the future.

We put this down to doing the simple things right, like personal service and the right level and quality of communication, but they are also clearly very accomplished at negotiating and keeping both parties ‘warm’. They always managed our expectations well and never over-promised on the sale price they could achieve, like many other agents in Borehamwood tend to do.
In our experience many of Village’s local competitors could certainly take a few leaves out of Jack’s and Phil's books!
Would not hesitate to recommend Village if you are selling your property, and we frequently do to our friends.

GoogleWe contacted Village estates when our dream home came on the market. The lovely lady told me they had already received 4 offers on the house in 48 hours but she still organised for me to view it. I met with Jack at the house and he remained professional all the way, not giving me any hints of other offers, or game playing. This is one of the most stressful events to go through, seeing your dream home knowing it was virtually gone. Jack stayed calm and discreet and although I put in an offer, he waited for my husband to arrive from abroad 6 hours later. My husband also offered asking price and we waited. Jack called at 6pm to let us know our offer had been accepted. Knowing this house was so sought after, Jack could so easily have game played to increase the offer, I felt we were so desperate, we could jump off a cliff if we needed to, in order to get this house, but there was nothing to worry about. Our offer was accepted and went through. We are aware that other offers had been rejected but we played fair all the way, as did Jack and his company and we are grateful every day for no stress, no games, no messing around, just a smooth transaction. Would recommend these guys to anyone in Borehamwood & Elstree.
