Invoicing and staff professionalism is an absolute joke. I gave over 28 days notice of me vacating my storage unit back in December, and they’ve invoiced me for the next month, and then added late payment fees when I refused to pay. This had gone to debt collectors and the team at Fort Kinnaird were not helpful at all, in fact, this matter had to be escalated to a regional manager from Glasgow who looked into, and sorted this situation for me, after explicitly being told by the fort kinnaird team that absolutely nothing could be done, when in fact it could. Absolutely shocking service and I do not recommend ever utilising this company for any storage needs. I have consistently had to chase up emails after being ignored for weeks at a time, and then receiving very passive-aggressive emails which were more condescending than helpful. After reading some other reviews, it appears this seems to be a common theme for Safestore, with people experiencing the exact same thing as I have. After four months of back and forth emails, I finally received a refund which I would never have got if I never challenged this issue.

We arrived one hour before closing time, but the representative Kasia went out of her way to help us out quickly and efficiently. Moving flats is a stressful experience and Kasia was both generous in the offer she made us for the storage locker and also kind in helping us get everything sorted quickly so we could move stuff in before closing. Very grateful, Safestore is lucky to have an employee like her.

My experience at the Safestore Fort Kinnaird on Friday the 14th of Nov. was one of the worst I’ve ever had with any storage company. The employee, a girl, on duty in the morning was completely unprepared, painfully slow, and showed a shocking lack of training. Her behaviour didn’t just cause inconvenience, it genuinely damages the company’s reputation. I arrived with a reservation confirmed both online and by phone for £32 per week. Despite this, the receptionist couldn’t find it, didn’t know how to check the system properly, and kept calling other staff for help. She wasted more than 30 minutes printing unnecessary sheets in order only to see the empty units instead of looking at the sheet on the screen and still couldn’t process a simple storage booking. Her confusion, lack of urgency, and inability to complete basic tasks made the entire interaction chaotic and unprofessional. Because of her incompetence, I was told I had to pay the full price instead of the offer, then pressured into buying a lock which the total with almost £100 per week. Then, it comes the insurance, even after showing my valid insurance on my phone, she insisted on more delays. I couldn’t even get the key to the unit so I could unload the van, her inefficiency made that impossible and I had to leave without booking the unit. Can management check the CCTV, so see how long it takes and her very slow performance? This level of service is unacceptable. One poorly trained and very uninterested employee can seriously drag the company down, and that is exactly what is happening at this branch. Safestore needs to address this immediately, because customers will not tolerate this standard of service. I will not be using Safestore again, and I strongly advise others to avoid the Fort Kinnaird branch unless the company takes urgent action to fix the staffing and training issues.

The service offered by the Safestore staff was excellent. The hours between which one can access the store are however much too restricted. I was also greatly inconvenienced when calling to deposit early in the morning, when I found that a removal firm had commandeered virtually all the trolleys and the use of the lift for an extended period. I feel that such a large scale operation should not be taking place in a manner and at a time which effectively blocks access to normal users.

The customer service when we arrived was very welcoming and kind. But today when I went to return my access fob the manager Andy Beckett was quite aggressive and rude, he refused to give me a letter stating the termination of the contract. I mean you sign a contract to use the property and when you are leave you would expect a proof say that you have left. He said very irratated that I am the first person to ask for a confirmation of termination. When I insisted he threw a piece of paper without logo on the table in front of me where he had written that I had given it back. I asked for an official paper but he said we don't have this. And that this is not their policy. I then said that I would like an email because that comes from the company email he blew hot air like why is she complaining and bothering me. He eventually sent an email, but I was really disappointed int he service I got.

We moved house from Hertfordshire to Edinburgh. Unfortunately, the move did not go as smoothly as we had hoped and the removal company had also underestimated the size of storage unit needed in Edinburgh. Gordon at SafeStore was absolutely brilliant. He assisted the removal company when they arrived and communicated with us as we were still in Hertfordshire. He was more in control of the move than the removal company we used!! Gordon is a valuable asset to SafeStore at Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh. Using this storage space for furniture. Kasia in the Fort Kinnaird branch was particularly excellent. The storage container I originally booked was not in an ideal location for what was needing stored and Kasia recognised this and assisted in finding me somewhere more suitable at an excellent price. she was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly. A complete asset to the team and put me at ease during a stressful event. So thank you so much :) thanks also to Gordon and the call handlers in the call centre for answering questions helpfully. Moving out of the storage facility was also smooth. Kasia was amazing as always and another member of staff was extremely helpful getting me the cart I needed to move. The area manager was present also and was friendly and appeared kind and supportive to his staff. Brilliant branch! Fort's Safe store has great service at a great price. Would highly recommend!

Great service from Chris and the team. Price is competitive. Site is easily accessible from city bypass. Storage site is secured (I was given a fob to enter the gate). Assess is not 24 hours but long enough for my needs. You need your own lock for your locker or you can but one from the office.

We were extremely happy with the professional service and price we received from Jamie Saggers at Safe store self Store in Fort Kinnaird , who answered all our questions.regarding our storage of our household furniture etc required once we relocate here . His full approach and friendly manner put us at ease . We were able to view the storage lockers before we made our commitment which we changed to the larger storage units . In selling extra goods they had a well stocked and attractive shelf’s with items we may require during our move which entised us to buy . We shall definitely be recommending your company to our friends as the storage units are well maintained and clean to a high standards and having to use the toilet this to was found in a hygienic state.

When we were moving to a smaller house, we knew that we would have to put some of our things into storage. We wanted a place near to where we were and Safestore Self Storage was just the place - very near to where we are now staying. The woman that we spoke to was very helpful and talked us through everything - even took us to see a storage space and told us how to get in even if it was after hours and we needed to get into our lock - up. Made an enquiry on their website for a price, they followed up with a call from the branch we'd be dealing with to see if we needed more info. I went in to see them and was shown a storage space but when she looked up the computer there was a slightly bigger room for a quid less, so no brainer. Booked it for a week while had our living room decorated took out contents insurance to cover £4000 and signed up. Only downside is that they charge a rental of £13.90 for a padlock, that's why only 4 stars. Surely a place called Safestore would include a padlock for storage security. Overall though, good experience.
