I never normally leave reviews but felt I had to warn other people about this totally unprofessional company.I have never had such a terrible experience selling and buying a property. They never call you back, they never answer emails. A totally stressful experience a shocking service. I would not even give 1 star. Dreadful company DO NOT USE!! I do not recommend this company if you want a smooth and easy process with clear communication.Totally unprofessional service, I do not understand how this company is still going, dreadful!AVOID THIS COMPANY FOR BUYING OR SELLING YOUR PROPERTY!Standard reply from Gilson Gray below, nothing happens when you contact them to complain. As a first time home buyer, I was extremely nervous that I would go through the entire process feeling stressed and ill-prepared. However, having Joanne assigned to my case was the biggest blessing! She made my life 1000 times easier and was always incredibly kind, patient and informative. She always demonstrated that she had my best interest in mind and wasn't just there to get a cheque. I would not have been able to have such a pleasant experience without her and can confidently say that she played a massive part in me securing my first home in a timely manner! TrustpilotCommunication was awful
Communication was awful from the beginning of buying our house, admin did not respond to emails or phone calls efficiently and it seemed to go to different people every time who did not work on our case. Once we were assigned a solicitor she did not answer our calls except maybe once a week after a while; we had to continually phone and leave messages and never knew when the call would be answered. When we were ready to complete the solicitor did not request the funds to be released in time so we had to delay until a more inconvenient time. I do not recommend this company if you want a smooth and easy process with clear communication. I have given 2 stars as Lucy who took over to finish completing the purchase phoned us twice in one day to keep us informed and got it done efficiently.

Absolutely atrocious in all forms. GILSON GRAY!!!!!!!! We are now 3 weeks over our completion date and still, the solicitors have zero rush, zero interest and zero ability to execute a simple task. I will widely tell people of my buyers and own experience should the completion not be completed by the end of the week. I’ve dealt with bad solicitors in my time, but nothing like this. If you want a truly bad experience, sleepless nights, being ignored, missed deadlines and zero customer service then yes, use these. Solicitor in charge - initials are RJ.

GoogleI can't understate how terrible they are. They ended up charging me over double what was initially quoted, never respond to emails, occasionally will answer the phone, will go missing for weeks with no one covering and then to top it off failed to register my lease with the management company leaving me out several hundred pounds I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than deal with this company ever again

I tried to sell my place,To due mixture of reason including delay in communicating with the purchaser solicitors by GILSON GRAY has contributed to the collapse of the deal.I asked for a small discount for in their fees,which never materialised.They took me to court as there was a few delays in responding to their credit control email and I am have to pay £1250.00.I called their debt management department 4 weeks ago and proposed a counter offer,he said he will call in 2 days,never called and I called him on 8.06.2024 and he said that he forgot all about this case.I wanted to clear the original balance as it is not in my DNA to not to pay if someone has done work,I tried all I can to come to a middleground so both the parties agree to a amicable figure,but unfortunately they have been very ruthless,and very unprofessional

GoogleTook 2 years to do solicitor work never answered the phone asked for a refund didn’t want to give payed £2,000 for solicitor costs and then spent £500 on surveys due to them not paying attention to my case had to renew them making me loose even more money & time. If you value your time don’t go to these SCAMMERS!!!!!!

GoogleIt’s now been a couple of months since we sold and moved house with Gilson Gray LLP and we have no hesitation in continuing to recommend them to friends and family due to their service excellence. They were knowledgable on the Edinburgh property market, supportive while we looked for our house, active to get good interest for our sale, organised for sales viewings and generally fantastic all round. This was particularly appreciated as we hadn’t moved house for 17+ years and things change in that time. It’s a stressful time - especially when buying and selling at the same time - but the team at Gilson Gray were the right balance of professional and human. We were supported by Graeme (valuer), Jenny and Megan (Sales) and Sarah (solicitor) and we are so grateful to them all. Thank you.

Marika never answers phones or emails. Day of so called completion she was absent. Never told us she was she wasn't in the office. Completion day didn't happen even tho our removal van was packed and ready to go. One of her colleagues told us it wasn't happening approx 4pm. All my belongings had to go in storage at short notice and accrued storage and redelivery fees of approx £1000!!! Removal company couldn't be delivered until the Wednesday after. Having to sleep on an air bed in an empty house for 5 days. Of course nothing happens over the weekend. No one called to tell us what was happening Monday morning. I called to find out. She didn't answer phone through out the day. My estate agent couldnt get hold of her neither could my vendors estate agent. 5pm I received a call from my vendors estate agent saying I could collect the keys. I had to contact Gilson Grey (Marika didnt answer) to see if I could actually collect my keys. Marika didn't pay my mortgage off immediately therefore another mortgage payment taken out (£1200) for no reason. Absolutely shocking experience from start to finish. Communication non existent. Still wanted paying on full. Will never recommend.
