This is the first time I have had anything to do with surveyors, and I couldn't fault this company at all. Steven from the Kirkclady branch came to my home explained everything he needed to and also showed interest in what my plans were. Everything was done within the day which was not expected but much appreciated.

The inspection was carried out professionally and your personnel courteous and friendly. However to charge £420 for an inspection lasting less than an hour and a single page report with minimal information on it is daylight robbery. The valuation figure I was given was merely based on the market sale of a ‘similar’ property recently sold for less than its asking price. I have had some internal extension works done over the years. . Whilst I know extensions don’t add the value of what you pay for them they must add at least some value. I thought you were experienced valuers who were able to assess the actual value of a property so am disappointed.

Blair carried out the survey politely and efficiently with the minimal of intrusion and very thoroughly. Gave us the advice to check out the small number of stains that were on the main bedroom ceiling as he believed that may have been caused by a mouse or mice. On inspection this proved to be the case. Discovered mouse droppings . Offending lagging removed on area around stains, evidence of an old nest there, all other areas in the vicinity clear and dry, no sign of mice now. Putting down traps to make sure this is a historical issue. Our only concern is that although the issue has been dealt with it unfortunately may put potential viewers off. Apart from that concern we were completely satisfied with the survey.

DM Hall were quick and responsive. The Home Report was detailed and required only a couple of minor amends. My only concern was finding out afterwards that the surveyor and my estate agent are best friends and miraculously the valuation came out at exactly what the estate agent said it would.

Mr. Seaton carried out the survey for my home report. All went well and was given a fair valuation for asking price. A shock was to come in the deeds for the garden and Mr. Seaton was forced to re- value. Advice is to check your deeds.

TrustpilotDO NOT get a Home Survey by this company
DM Hall were the surveyors that my estate agent suggested. I have no idea why, as the totally inaccurate home report is now causing me huge problems trying to sell my property. There are so many inaccurate statements that the surveyor made that they are two many to list here. When the surveyor attended, with a colleague, he stated that there were no issues with the house itself and there was nothing to discuss. The only issue he raised was the condition of the out building which I agreed with. When the report arrived there were many faults listed, most of which were untrue. He stated that the shower cubicle was leaking, which it is not. He stated that there is condensation throughout the house and has not provided evidence of this. He reported faults with the roof that a roofer has since checked and states that all reported faults are untrue. After rejecting the report, the surveyor agreed to alter some of the report but only a few minor issues. He stated that he would not alter anything else and so I reluctantly accepted the report as it stood. However I also contacted a reputable builder to look at the issues raised in the HR. As always with builders, this took a few weeks. The builders report was sent on to the surveyor. His reply was totally unbelievable! The surveyor makes accusations the report was written and/ or altered by myself! (I am taking further advice on this accusation). He states that the survey was not disputed and that the builder did not attend for several weeks so it is unfair to compare what he says to the survey. He then makes claims that he was not made aware of things at the time of the survey and that he pointed out issues at the time; both totally untrue as he never asked anything during the survey and stated that there were no issues when he finished his survey. He even states that it is just bad luck that he thinks that the shower is leaking and if I have the shower inspected or repaired he "will tweak the wording". As the shower has been inspected and he has been shown to be wrong he, at the very least, should be apologising and correcting (not tweaking) the report. Remember, he previously stated he would not make any further alterations/ corrections to the report but is now saying he will? Another issue raised by the builders report is that the chimney stack is not actually part of my property but is the neighbours. I did not know this at the time but was made aware by the builder. When this was reported to the surveyor he stated he was not made aware of this at the time of the survey, but now he is aware he will not do anything about it on the report. Again, the surveyor never asked about the chimney at all and just made assumptions as he has done throughout the survey. I have asked for a refund which has been refused and so I am left over £500 out of pocket. I will be taking this further via the CHP and, if needed, RICS.
