Avoid this incompetent Letting Agent

After 9 years of renting, 5 different properties, the stupidity of this Agent is off the charts! After viewing a property last year, during the viewing, the Agent told us it was being decorated by the Landlord. Upon agreeing to rent the property we were then told it was not being decorated, we proceeded on the sole basis that we would decorate the exceptionally tired property as it was in a prime location with massive potential not being realised. Out time our cost, we accepted that. This was confirmed by the Agent by email. Upon moving in, the property was not cleaned at all, it was filthy and left as the last Tennant has moved out. Upon complaining about this and the state of decoration, it was again confirmed by the Agent that we had permission to decorate. We only actually stayed one year, certainly improving the property to no cost to the Landlord. We are now entering a dispute with the TDS over the Agent refusing to refund our deposit because we did not have permission to decorate, even though we have 3 emails confirming we did from the same Agents?! I am confident we will get our money via the TDS, if not we will certainly pursue every legal channel possible. Beware, this letting agency is by far the worst we have dealt with. Read other reviews of similar scenarios on here, these are facts, not stories. Our tenancy finished 12 days ago, monies will be delayed for god knows how long whilst we enter the submission of evidence phase and then adjudication. This company is totally incompetent, nothing short of a scam. I would advise, no matter how nice the property, use a respectful Agents....not this one! Lesson learnt, ensure everything is put in writing, you'd think that would help, appears not with this Agent!!!

Both Lesley Anne and Kevin were both very friendly and professional at the Selsey branch. They were very approachable and quickly sorted out any problems i had, as It was the first property i had bought and they explained anything to me that i didnt understand. I am writing this review to express my utter distaste and disbelief at the customer service I have received from this business. I recently enquired regarding an apartment which had been advertised by your team on Rightmove and which I was very interested in renting. Therefore I called your team immediately to arrange a viewing. I managed to secure the first viewing of the apartment within the earliest time slot. Once this was arranged (as it was days in advance of the viewing appointment) I had time to think it over and didn’t want to take the chance of losing this property so I once again communicated with your team to see whether I could put an offer in without viewing the apartment as I was happy with the photos posted on the site. I was told that it is not possible and that I need to view the apartment first. After viewing the apartment I spoke to your office immediately to put in an offer and I even went over and above the asking price to secure the property. I was told my offer will be put through to the landlord and I would get an answer the following day. The following day, I had heard nothing, no communication whatsoever so once again I rang your office around midday to ask for an update. I was told the person dealing with it was not in that morning which is why there is a delay but he would get back to me in the afternoon. There was still no communication. I called the office again at around 3:30pm for an update after the flat status had miraculously changed to ‘let agreed’ online. I was then informed that the status was updated to stop further enquiries but they’ve not come to a decision yet but someone will call me back by the end of day (6pm). I can’t help but think that this is not true as every time I communicated it seemed like I was bothering them and was an inconvenience asking for an update on my offer when I was promised a call that day. All I wanted was an update! Fast forward to 5:30pm I call again and was told that a message has been passed for someone to call me back urgently before 6pm. I didn’t receive any call, as expected. The following morning I hoped someone would get back to me first thing having passed the message the following evening… but no call once again. I then called up at 10:45am to be told “We’ve just taken a holding deposit and unfortunately the landlord did not choose you. We were actually about to call you right now!” (Hmm, sure). I wasn’t given any other information and the lady on the phone rushed to end the call but said they would call me back if anything changes. In my humble opinion, they had already earmarked this property for somebody else prior to the viewings. After having to call up 4 times for an update I don’t believe anyone will contact me. I have provided my phone number and email also but I seem to be ignored. I work in a very similar industry and I understand things can get busy, however ignoring someone for over 24 hours and then to be bluntly told their application did not go through is quite rude and disrespectful. Total waste of time and terrible communication. Avoid this letting agency at all costs.
