Terrible letting agents

Terrible letting agents, say things have been done and they haven't, say they have e mailed you when they haven't, checks not carried out fully resulting in loss of money. The list is endless

Absolutely terrible - avoid

Terribly customer service from day 1. The apartment had numerous faults and problems that were not solved throughout the tenancy. They then charged for all of the faults and “extra” made up problems. My full deposit of £750 was taken - and they also demand I pay and additional £243 for the pleasure of their horrible service. Worst experience in my life.In particular the two female staff Kelly and Tracy and the most incompetent and lazy women that’ll you’ll ever have to deal with. Very sour.

Very poor service. Avoid at all costs.

We have been renting for many years and never have we come across an estate agent this poor.We as tenants have always had such pride in treating the house our like our own home. Keeping it immaculate at all times and taking good care of the property. Being with Martin and Co, they made us feel horrendous and really made us feel like we shouldn’t be there and that we were just ‘renting’. We had our usual quarterly visits with feedback such as; you need to clean the shower glass window and make sure you keep it up or; please do not leave your clothes drying on an air dryer as this can bring in mould. I used to clean vacated properties for a living and to be told what to do in the property was disgusting. Customer service at an all time low not to mention how rude the MD of the office was to us on many occasions. We lost most of our deposit when we decided to no longer stay at the property. We couldn’t face being signed with them for longer than we needed. All in all, very rude and poor service throughout.

I have been renting a property in dover…

I have been renting a property in dover for over 3 years through martin and co my daughter's bedroom is full of damp the landlord bought paint and a bleach spray round when the property was being rented through halhams but since m&c have taken over it the last 3 years i have been mugged off even had the letting agent Richard Horton say that the damp is due to cooking in the kitchen REALLY. He also got my property confused with another property saying that all work would be carried out by Jan 25th. this company is a bunch of cowboys. I am pursuing this further. as my daughter is constantly ill they are quick enough to take rent money but you have to fight and fight to get anything done and I am still fighting

Disgraceful.

Disgraceful.Used condom in one of the bedrooms, piles of dirt, a moth infestation, water turned off due to bad pipes. You complain and all you get is fobbed off with pathetic excuses.Avoid this company like the plague, they're either taking the pi ss or woefully incompetent (or most likely both)

Absolutely rip off. Avoid at any cost

Absolutely rip off. Avoid at any cost . Before you move in they charge all fees to the highest rate on the market . And when I moved in, stove is broken, dish washer is broken , fridge is not working and fault bulbs and door handles everywhere. Marks on the wall are unbearable .Each of it takes more than a week to get fixed . When I finally moved out after my tenancy, they file claims more than my total amount of deposit. Including the things were already broken when I moved in. Besides, anything a bit dirt or dusty they charge for a replacement . Their very poor quality cheap plastic blinds( either it falls by itself or any wind will blow it off) charge me £240 more to replace . I didn’t even use their table so just leaving there for six month and it collects some dust so they charge me 247 to replace it. Can you believe it?! Basically they just want your money for their whole redecoration . But I doubt if they will use the money on the property based on the condition when I moved it . I rejected couple of their ridiculous claims and filed dispute to DPS, see what happens .

Unhelpful

I rang to express interest in a letting they had and asked to be considered as a tenant. They weren’t interested or very helpful. Apparently they just go with the first person that expresses interest and don’t disclose any other interest to the landlord.Poor and wont bother looking for anything else through them.Someone could do with training the staff in customer service as it was clear that they haven’t any skills in that area.

Several years back they took admin fees…

Several years back they took admin fees and checks of approx £400 on a property from my retired father (who was helping me out to get a rental) when we viewed we were pressured to pay or risk losing the bungalow. From there on the communication was dreadful. They made excuses every time I asked how the checks were going. It is my belief that someone else viewed the property, who was a better prospect. They hadn’t even done the bank checks or references as they were supposed to. I had to assume that we didn’t get accepted for the property as no one would tell us. I asked for the £400 back but they refused. After much chasing, the manager of the shop said I might get half the fees back. But it never happened and we were left high and dry. Absolutely criminal. My advise to anyone using Martin &come, is don’t do it! But if you must, then make sure that you get written communications from them, ask them to confirm anything you have discussed on the phone to be put in writing. The communications I did get were all via the phone, but I could not use this as evidence since it was their word against mine. I have rented a lot and always in good standing, and excellent quarterly checks. This is the only agent I went with, who went through all the processes verbally on the phone. Leaving no evidence of our conversations or agreements.very disappointed and angry!!!!

Absolutely disgraceful service

Absolutely disgraceful service. They aren't looking out for the tenants or the landlords, only themselves! I've not seen this level of incompetence my entire life. DO NOT EVER trick yourself into thinking these people are professionals, they will take your money and do everything possible to avoid your best interests. They may temporarily lull you into a false sense of security, and then they'll double fk you. Read more reviews and you will find the TRUTH. Head office needs to take these pirates down.- Martin and Co Chorlton

Very Bad customer service

Bad customer service, no responses to emails, long waiting over the phone. For one week I tried to pay the holding deposit for a flat (needs to be done over the phone), but no one was ever available and every time I was told someone would get back to me which never happened. Later I saw the flats I was interested in were no longer available. They lack seriousness and transparency, absolutely cannot rely on them!

Genuinely would give them 0 stars

Genuinely would give them 0 stars if I could. Rented with them for 2 years and it was so stressful - I had to repeatedly chase for them to fix anything and they were so unhelpful each time. For some reason it's acceptable to them to just not reply to your emails? It was so stressful having to deal with them. Would NEVER rent with them again and highly recommend you don't either.

As a landlord, I use Martin & Co to manage 4 properties for me. I have always found their service very good. They are very professional in their approach and have always ensured any void periods are kept to an absolute minimum when a tenant has decided to move on. They have a good quality of contacts to ensure any maintenance issues are dealt with quickly and professionally, and helping me ensure that all relevant safety certificates are kept up to date.

Still the rogues they were 3 years ago

Just seeing if this agency had upped their game but No, still as bad as they were 3 years ago. I will never forget the dreadful experience I had with them. An email they sent me today just reminded me of that and I thought that I would see if they had got any better. They are still the rogues I remember and I have unsubscribed from their emails now. Do beware this company

Avoid at all costs. In the past they were happy to come check the home every month to make sure nothing was being damaged etc. Ignored us when we moved in the requests for damaged white goods plus faulty heaters etc. They're not there to help you whilst they are taking a percentage of the rent you are paying them like other genuine letting agencies, they are just there to make a profit and steal from you whenever they please. My solicitors will be dealing with them. We are a good family and strongly believe in karma so we would never damage anything but the way we were treated was disgusting. Avoid at all costs (costs they will take for themselves and not to help their customer). Classic profit business. Go with them if you have money you are happy to have stolen from you :). Good luck future tenants.

I have used the Martin and Co Office in Dunfermline for approximately 9 years and have been so very impressed by the manner in which the WHOLE Team have looked after me. Friendly, reliable, honest and the most professional company I have ever dealt with. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody who is considering using their services. Not only would I recommend them for managing rented properties, Donna's office sold our Dalgety Bay house the same day in went onto the market!!! Superb service.

Unprofessional, unreasonable and extremely rude.

As a tenant I found this company to be unresponsive to requests for repairs on a number of occasions and upon moving out various issues have suddenly come to light, despite 6 month checks having been carried out with no issues noted that has led to my deposit still not being returned to me. In dealing with staff in the office I found one particular member of staff to be very rude. I will be avoiding Martin & Co Dunfermline permanently.

I don't usually give just 1 Star

I don't usually give just 1 Star. But one particular branch in Cornwall has proved to be quite unprofessional. I would like to tell them that one size does not fit all. We all have our own story especially more so during this Pandemic. This company needs to adapt to the changes regarding people's changed lives during this time, and become much more emphatic and sensitive in their dealings with individuals.
