Utterly appalling…..
Utterly appalling at the Cambridge branch.Property with significant structural issues and in a poor state of disrepair and decoration. Landlord abroad and not being managed effectively on their behalf or the tenants. Just a conveyer of continual new tenants and no funding spent to keep it habitable and in good order. The maintenance company is abysmal turning up with no replacement parts and without adequate knowledge to repair anything. Check in and check out process also a sham, trying to be charged for oil that wasn’t there on arrival. Worst experience of a rental. We are thankful we never have to rent again. Please steer clear. If not, keep evidence of everything, as you will need it.

TERRIBLE DO NOT GO WITH THEM. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED. When we first moved into the house none of our bedroom or bathroom locks worked. Both bathrooms locked u in from the inside I was stuck in there for 2 hours. The garage was absolutely disgusting which doesn’t even describe the condition 🤢🤢🤮 and the fireplace had so much dust and debris it’s like a natural disaster had happened. They never fixed ANY of our locks even though they said “yeah we’ll get that fixed asap”. This company will try ANYTHING to withhold your deposit taking advantage of poor vulnerable students. They are the worse. If I could leave a negative review I would

Please stop using Martin and Co
I was a tenant with Martin & Co. I gave notice in July and started moving my stuff out with my tenancy ending 20 August 2023. Since I did not stay at the property from 20th July, I came back on 1st of August to attend my inspection to find out the viewing agents left my windows open and all my lights on, which was left on for a week. When I made a complaint I got a call saying that the viewing agent was new and very sorry. I told them I am not paying a week's electricity due to their neglegence. I was told that the complaints manager will speak to a director to see what can be done. Their response was that the agent denied that she left it open and that I had no evidence. Their investigation showed I did not have a claim. The dishonesty here on director and employee level is appalling and unprofessional. They never requested my evidence for their investigation and after I said but I have train tickets to prove I was not even in Birmingham that whole week due to work related travel, now all of a sudden I need to send them the evidence. I ask all Landlords to please not use them. If they can be this corrupt with tenants, just imagine how deceitful they are to you, the owner of the property.

AVOID Rochdale Martin and Co.
AVOID Rochdale Martin and Co. branch at all costs! I tried to rent a property through their office, and they said that I needed to first pass their financial check before they could proceed. They use Rightmove for their client checks, and they said that they had contacted Rightmove, and would let me know the result. They refused to even let me view a rental property until this was complete, even though I drove 4 hours to Rochdale to find a place to rent. And it's now almost than a month later and they still haven't responded to me. The property I was interested in has since been let to others...The staff were impolite and short tempered with me, as though I was wasting their time. I have never had such a bad experience with a letting agent before. Their office isn't even open to visit without a prior appointment. TERRIBLE!

Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs. I recently rented a Martins and Co property for two years (two one year fixed terms). Never really had anything go wrong the first year so could not comment on their services. However, second year had incompetent workmen damage a washing machine whilst fitting it which one first use flooded the property. Then, when attempting to get my deposit back from Martins and Co. They attempted to gain compensation for a worn sofa and then proceeded to lie and say the damage was caused by a lack of a cover, which I provided photographic proof of a cover constantly on in various months of my tenancy. Moreover, they charge extortionate amounts for pedantic levels of cleaning (dust on one cupboard handle), one eyelash size hair found in the sinkRather than respond to my original emails questioning the decisions they sent auto response emails saying that my email did not meet the criteria to warrant a reply. I have rented from numerous companies across Nottingham as have my partner, both student and non student accommodation and they are by far the worst I have encountered. AVOID

Very unprofessional team
Be wary of their very unprofessional team. You will pay your rent, and they wouldn't inform your landlord and keep putting pressure on you to pay additional rent, and when you insist on verifications, they tell you their system failed to pick rents you paid. You run in problems as you are reported as owing several months of rentBe ready to receive threats from their unprofessional staff on issues they should think carefully before approaching you. I reckon it you get it worse when they sense that you are racially different from them.

We bought our flat at Isca Place through Martin & Co seven years ago and have used them for letting the flat for that period. We have just used them to sell the flat which completed on 6 July 2023. In all that time we have had nothing but the highest quality service from them in regard to purchase, letting and selling. We have no hesitation in recommending Martin & Co to anyone thinking of buying, letting or selling property in the Exeter area.

Marketing and sale of flat in Bath
All of Martins staff have been great in the sale of a property, led by Gaye and David. They respond promptly, give well-informed and clear advice and keep an eye on progress throughout, intervening as and when necesary to achieve a timely and positive outcome for all parties. Thanks to you all. Much appreciated

Martins & Co team...improvement needed
Martins & Co team especially Rob, always ready to help and quite flexible. A professional guy with patience. However I will score them less due to the fact that they literally make you figure out the apartment and associated services yourself. I think one of their staff(the lady at the door) can make do with some politeness.

Our home
We let this company manage our property. It was newly painted, carpeted and with a brand new kitchen and now it is a disaster zone in need of complete renovation. We had a no pet policy in the house and this was clearly not upheld. I just wish I could add more photos to this review.

Didn’t receive applications
Found the perfect flat with them, good price and location. Went for a viewing, were really happy with it, and were told we would be sent applications. I was sent one a couple of days late, but my partner was not sent one at all. We both rang and emailed all week to ask for this to be sent over but it never was. I then rang today to find out that the property was no longer available and we couldn’t even fully apply.

I personally believe this letting agency only selects British nationals to let there properties because why would I apply to more than 8 properties and got none when I clearly work full time earn more than enough and not get a property. WHYYYYYYYYYYY IT JUST SCREAMS RACISM SINCE AUGUST WE ARE IN DECEMBER NOTHING YET!!!

AVOID!
Would give 0 stars if I could. Please AVOID this company. I am a disabled individual and they have treated me with complete and utter disrespect and are now trying everything to get every penny from me. Our landlord was texting us personally saying one thing and the estate agent texting us another thing which caused a lot of stress and upset. The workers in the huddersfield office and rude, cannot communicate properly and quite frankly cannot seem to add their maths up properly! Please do yourselves a favour and avoid this corrupt and awful company.

The woman I had to deal with at their…
The woman I had to deal with at their Norwich branch spent more time moaning to me about how busy they all were, before quickly switching from “you may need a guarantor” to “you will need a guarantor” & refused to offer a viewing on the property I was enquiring about before deciding to lecture me about the fact that for insurance purposes, landlords need a form referencing. While she was actually correct, I failed to see why she decided to tell me this when I never gave any indication that I objected to being referenced in the first place. It would be splendid if someone could tell her that she’s not the only person on the entire planet who is busy. We’ll all busy, I’m busy too. We all have lives to lead & jobs to hold down & we don’t have time to deal with - who is clearly a tea lady posing as an agent - “agents” who can’t decide as to whether a potential tenant might need a guarantor or who does need a guarantor. If she worked for me, she’d be flipping burgers in McDonalds. She’s a disgrace to the firm & she needs firing. You would expect this behaviour from some multi-national energy company who outsource their customer service operators - who can barely speak English - to third world countries so they can get away with paying them 0.01 rupees a year, but for a professional regulated organisation, I’d expect better. ….& in 3,2,1 “ Hello TheHonestPrussian, we are sorry to learn that you were not satisfied with the service provided by a Martin & Co office. To help us further our investigation, would you please email us your contact information and the name of the branch?”Adorable…

Gets worse and worse
My local office gets worse and worse by the year. Since using them almost three years ago now, four members of staff have left. One in particular was very rude and stuck up. She was conversing with the management company behind our backs, slagging us off. Very unprofessional. The new staff are useless morons who don't seem to do anything and can't even reply to emails. The person in charge seems to do everything and can't even be bothered to send us the rest of the tenancy agreements. Every time something needs doing we have to keep ringing them or visiting them. They're a joke.

Very disappointed with the service I received from Martin&Co. I had a viewing arranged for a rental property and took time out of work. When I arrived at the property, no agent turned up and the tenants were unaware of the viewing. Later found out the property had already been let. Despite their claims, I received no communication about the viewing being cancelled. When trying to reach out to the office, I have revived poor levels of customer service and faced with a rude response.

AVOID AVOID AVOID this agency. it tooks 2 weeks trying to rent a room in sharehouse It s very difficult to reach them by email or phone. They changed 3 times the hour and the day of the appointement to view the room. I immediately booked this room as I had already lived there for 3 years. they did not wanted to rent it to me. they didn't want to do a virtual view like the previous nice landlord had done due to my disability. I have insisted a lot to have this room which had all the criteria for my disability. I did everything they resquested. I wasted a lot of time and money. After two weeks they said they have choosen someone else.I think the agency did not want to rent me the room because of my disability. they give a very bad image of English agencies. To avoid. Unprofessional, inhuman, bad customer service.

AVOID AT all cost!!!!
AVOID AT all cost!!!!Martin & Co STAINES are scammers!!!The made me paying 2 extra weeks, even giving the notice 6 weeks before. The new owner of the state agency is discusting. She invented things to keep my holding deposit, even they knew some problems of the flat were there before I started my contract. I had to speak with my solicitor and with the Citizen Advise Bureu of Lambeth and i had to open a dispute with the DPS. The ripped me around £500.Never sing a contract with this rubbish agency. CAUTION: AVOID-AVOID-AVOID

Stole money
Don’t work with these thief’s! They lied all rules just to steal the holding fee, I needed short period stay flat and was ready to pay upfront as it’s 6k£ only, and usually you don’t need for that to share your personal bank statement! I was renting in London and never had to show my personal bank statements with anyone! They lied to me and said I don’t need any references. They are scam! They won’t give your money back, be careful!

Incompetent, useless, ignorant time wasters
I’d give -0 stars if that was an option. You can’t even call this an estate agents. Not a single person with a brain cell, let alone any customer service or knowledge of landlord/tenant rights. Absolutely shocking service since the beginning of having the displeasure of dealing with them. Avoid at all costs!!!
