Thanks Chloe for arranging for a replacement electric shower in a managed property - not straightforward as after investigations (the shower was still under warranty) it turned out that the shower that had been installed was too powerful for the electrical system. I would strongly advise anyone…

I would strongly advise anyone considering Hose Rhodes Dickson to think carefully before doing so. During our tenancy, we experienced a number of serious issues, including being left without reliable hot water for approximately three months. Despite numerous reports, promises of call-backs, visits from contractors and assurances that repairs would be carried out, the issue remained unresolved for an unacceptable length of time. Communication throughout our tenancy was consistently poor. Calls were often not returned, updates were limited, and we frequently found ourselves chasing for information regarding problems within a property for which we were paying almost £2,000 per month in rent. Perhaps most disappointing was the way matters were handled when we were applying for a new tenancy. We were advised by the agent to make a reduced rental payment while an ongoing dispute regarding the property's condition was being addressed. However, when approached for a reference, the same payment arrangement was later used to suggest that rent had been paid late, resulting in a negative reference. This was despite the arrangement arising from their own inability to provide clarity on what payment amount they expected during that period. In my experience, customer service and tenant welfare appear to take a back seat to commercial interests. While Hose Rhodes Dickson may be one of the largest letting agents on the Isle of Wight, our experience was that size does not necessarily equate to quality of service. Unfortunately, after multiple unresolved issues, poor communication and a disappointing approach to referencing, I would not recommend Hose Rhodes Dickson and would look elsewhere before entrusting them with your tenancy.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!

Unfortunately it seems I’m the victim of a dodgy landlord… harassment, bullying, victimisation all round. This has lead me to being retaliatory/revenge evicted. HRD Cowes, was supposed to make my life easier by removing the need to contact the landlord, having Zoe in charge of the property (supposedly). However I never heard from her, in fact… I was actually notified via email that I was being evicted by Ananya. It then took over a week from that point to actually receive any legal documents, by that time had the wrong dates on them and needed to be done again. Throughout the whole process I kept getting the silent treatment to all of my emails requesting information or on the odd occasion an email stating “you’ll hear by the end of the day”, “you’ll hear by the end of the week”… Ananya’s favourite phrases. Alas of course I didn’t hear a thing. In fact when I did get through to Ananya on the phone, she could only seem to retell me what was sent in her initial email. When I explained the situation and that this was retaliation etc. all she could say was “I’m sorry you feel that way”. She absolutely did not care one single bit. Long story short, I got a lot of ignored calls and emails… poorly printed documents with wrong dates and now I’m pursuing legal action against the landlord. It seems that the Cowes branch are truly living up to their reputation of terrifyingly bad communication skills and carelessness that would frighten Thanos! Honestly if you’re a renter, look elsewhere… DO NOT USE THIS ESTATE AGENTS! Save yourself a lot of pain and heartache. There is much much more I could add to this review but I’ll leave that to your imagination… if you choose to fall down this rabbit hole regardless of my warning, I wish you good luck!

We can recommend HRD Freshwater highly. The sale of our house was complicated and protracted due to external issues. Peter and Beth were always kind, patient and understanding when all was very stressful they helped us see the light at the end of the tunnel. Always professional but clearly cared, it felt a very personal service. Not a car salesman type approach that some estate agents offer, we felt valued customers and that you do not see in an estate agent very often.

A very positive experience with Ventnor office

My wife and I had dealings with a number of the Island's agents, over the two years it took to buy a house here. They varied dramatically and one in particular disappointed us and left us feeling disillusioned with them. We viewed many properties and found we had to dig deeper on many of them, to discover their true worth. There has been a 'feeding frenzy' in the island's property market for many months, and this has, I feel, affected the attitudes of some agents here. However, we gained much experience of Hose Rhodes-dickson at Ventnor during our searches, having shown interest in three properties over a period of many months. We could have been viewed as 'difficult buyers' by them, as we had very specific goals, did not at the time live on the island and examined each property very carefully using every method at our disposal. Finally, we found our ideal home, Steve Martin supported our enquiries and final purchase in a very professional manner. He was, I felt, the most balanced agent we encountered, acting with no bias towards buyer or seller.A special mention goes to Jackie in the Ventnor office, who was helpful, friendly and diligent at every step.I would recommend the Ventnor office to anyone looking for property in the South East Wight area.

Great team, great service.

We purchased a flat through HRD in Ventnor and could not recommend them highly enough. The team went out of their way to help us as unfortunatley our solicitors were very poor so Jackie & Emily went above and beyond and we can't thank them enough. Even after purchasing the flat, knowing it's a second home, they have offered to take keys if we had any builders going in if we're not there at the time. It was a cash sale and no chain and took a while but they were always on hand for questions and to push things along. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again for sale or purchase.
