Very helpful friendly and efficient staff who made our moving experience as painless and smooth as possible. The staff could not have done more for us and we would thoroughly recommend the agency

Fantastic

I have used many agents in my time and these people are excellent they go over and above and make calls any time day or night to make sure you all ok if the house move getting too much.. Will intervene and get things done. Sue is the star she says it how it is and the truth is what you need when selling a house. A real review for a good old fashioned company that believe in their customers come first! I would recommend to friends or family. Upsetting to see negative comments as seen untrue. Genuine customer house sold Whitley village Jan 2016.

My experience was with them a little over month ago now, with my move this has been the first time I have been able to sit down and write a review about them. First of all when we arrived at the property we were a little early however the estate agent turned up and failed to introduce herself to us, just indicated to us to follow her. Once inside she just went straight into small talk about the Grenfall Tower incident, still without introduction to who she was. Once inside the property both my partner and I felt like the property wasn't as indicated as on the website and without the availability advertised. To make matters worse the agent failed to know anything about the property from energy suppliers to rent, she just kept saying call the office as she doesn't deal with rental properties. Which begs the question why was she showing us round and if this is the only agent available why didn't you prepare for the viewing? Turns out later in the day we were seeing other properties with this agent, expecting the same situation we arrived at the property once again early waiting for her. When she arrives we are lead to the building along with two other people, in my view having group viewings is not fair on prospective buyers as we aren't truly given time to look round the property. What made the situation worse was that we were not informed of it being a group viewing, especially as we had already spoken earlier in the day about this viewing. Due to seeing two properties back to back with her, we were rushed round the apartments and once again the agent did not know anything about either the properties once again. We did not go with this agency and I would not recommend them.

I am sorry you felt our representative was unprofessional with her comments about the recent tragedy. This was obviously very as had happened two days before your viewing and was on her mind as we are property professionals. Unfortunately we cannot have the lettings manager accompany viewings and if you had any questions about the letting service or the property then the office would have been more than willing to answer those questions. I would not expect myself as the office manager to know who the energy suppliers were on a viewing yet along a member of my staff so I think your comments here are very unreasonable. We have generally have a lot of interest in the properties we advertise so on occasion we have to carry out a group booking. if the client is interested after the initial visit then we are more than willing to carry out a further visit on an individual basis. I would completely understand if you had let a property through us and you were not happy with the service during the tenancy but this is not the case. I would have thought that if your experience was not what you expected when you viewed these properties with us then it may have been courteous to inform me directly rather than a post on this website following a viewing on a property. I thought long and hard before writing this but hopefully it helps someone. They are a nice agency to begin with but please don't be fooled. They were all informal with my partner and I and very helpful till the end of our contract. They would not call us after sending emails with enquiries, they would not fix items that we asked for them to. I understand now that they wanted to claim our deposit. Very unprofessional in my opinion how they conduct things, please learn from our mistake we thought we had a good relationship with them but they aren't to be trusted and will claim all your deposit. I hope this helps someone out there especially if you're a student be careful when you are dealing with Alternative estates.

I am sorry that felt this way. We tried to secure both of you alternative accommodation when the landlord decided to sell the property your partner was renting from us. I explained personally to you both at your property that we needed notice if either we found somewhere for you or you found somewhere yourself. You decided to vacate on the 22nd of December and that the property would be vacant on 31st. You didn't agree that you should give a months notice, although I got the landlord to agree to take the 22nd. We do not take any funds from a tenants deposit as it is protected by the tenant deposit scheme who independently adjudicated (on information provided by us and yourselves directly to them) that you did not give enough notice and that the property had not been left in an acceptable condition and therefore awarded money to the landlord (not us). You made a comment for students to be careful, which I also explained to your partner that we deal with a lot of international and UK students and it is very rare we will deduct money from the bond as they will normally take care of the properties we let to them and return it in a good state and provide us with the relevant notice period.

Absolutely terrible. As a buyer, I was in a strong position to make a cash offer on a flat - these agents took 2 days before relaying the offer the other owner, and then over a week to give me any feedback on acceptance - they said it was because vendor was on holiday but overall I found them totally unreliable - they never rung me when they said they would, and each time we spoke it was me ringing them - they were never proactive and updating me - it was always me chasing them for information or a status update. I would never ever sell my own property with them. As a buyer its unfortunate that I have had to put up with such unprofessional estate agents who seem to have no urgency to actually see the property - normal agents would be biting my hands off as a serious buyer without a chain and able to proceed quickly but not these guys!

Irum Β· 15 June 2014

I am sorry you feel disappointed by our service. However sometimes it does take a while for a seller to respond to an offer made on their property. I have checked our file the these sellers where away at the time off your offer which we explained to yourselves and we also explained that your offer was extremely low. I would suggest that it is not the fault of the agent that a very low offer is not accepted and that a buyer should review the price range they are looking at rather than seeing that the agent is at fault for a delay in a seller making a decision on whether or not to sell their home for a substantially discounted price. I have used Alternative Estates for the last 17 years for buying and selling 2 properties, as well as requiring financial services and mortgages. I have found that the staff working for Alternative Estates were extremely professional, experienced, useful and always very keen to help. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I always felt very cared for as their service was very personal. The advice given was always good and I always felt supported by their team. I am delighted by the service I have received, and would recommend anyone to use Alternative Estates for financial, mortgage and property matters.

I am the Executor of my late sister estate and the job fell to me to sell her house in Drayton Crescent, Coventry. I live in Newbury so I needed an agent who would market and sell the house without being continuously pushed as I was remote. Having sold six houses in my life, I come with experience, mostly not great! By comparison, I thought Alternative Estates were excellent in all respects from advice on pricing, generation of literature, showing people the house, securing a sale, through to progressing the completion. In particular, I liked the way they acted as project managers in progressing all the solicitors in the chain to finally get a completion date, successfully implemented on 18th December last year, just before Christmas. They even chased me. I never had to guess what was going on, they were really good communicators. I know it sounds to good to be true but they worked for me brilliantly. I am most grateful - good job done.

Every single person at Alternative estates were an absolute dream to deal with, helpful, professional and most of all offered fantastic advice We used them for the whole service from selling our old house, arranging the viewings at a time suitable to me, dealing with the offers that we had received and offering very good advice, dealing with the mortgage for our new purchase and also everybody including solicitors within the chain I can honestly say the service that we received was I believe way above and beyond what you could normally expect from another estate agent. personal service at its best and great value for money Fortunately we have found our dream home so don't think we would need to use the service again, but if we did there would be no hesitation to go back to alternative We will be back in touch with Nick when it is time to review our mortgage again though :)

Dreadful Dreadful Service All estate agents who are members of TPO know of the Duty of Care rule as taken from TPO website headed Consumer Guide/Sales Para 4 This reads as follows.......... ___________________________________________________________________________________ Duty of care. An estate agent must always work in the best interests of the client, that is to say the person who is paying for the estate agency services (usually the seller). An estate agent should also treat fairly, and with courtesy, all those involved in the proposed sale or purchase. ___________________________________________________________________________________ My Experience with Alternative Estates in Coventry Very disappointed in the repeated poor telephone manner from the manager Mr Nick Green who was.unjustifiably rude to me ...shouting and accusing me of ringing constantly and upsetting his staff on a daily basis. This was not the case at all. I wish they recorded incoming telephone calls as this would prove all I say is accurate and truthful. I got along very well and received a professional service from staff members apart from one Mrs Carla Green who on one occasion was so rude to me and slammed the telephone down and rang back some 10 minutes later to apologise. I have hard copy telephone bills which I requested from BT and Vodaphone which covered the dates concerned and prove this so called constant ringing on a daily basis was not true. In one particular call and in rage Mr Green screamed down the telephone.............literally screamed Quote "AM I GOING TO SUPPLY A NEW SET OF KEYS - NO I AM NOT" Unquote, Strangely enough although a key was the issue I hadn't asked that they supply a new set, just the two that were missing from the key ring. He also told me again in a rude manner that I was no longer permitted to ring Alternative Estates. How totally unprofessional!...........His rage frightened me so much that I decided to explore a new route and telephoned TPO office and found that they do not accept this bad attitude towards buyers or sellers. I know this message will either be removed or a poor feeble reply will be added in defence of themselves! However, I have already spoken to people about my bad experience dealing with Alternative Estates and the power of word of mouth being the most effective form of advertising - even if just one person reads this testimonial before they remove it then my efforts have been worthwhile!

I've been a tenant with Alternative for just under five years and never once have had a problem when I've had to call them for anything . If anything has ever needed fixed or replaced they have always got it sorted as quick as possible with no fuss and kept me informed of what and who to expect in regards to dates and times for workmen coming to do the jobs. Annette (the lettings manager) is the biggest asset to the company without a doubt, she is ΓΌber-efficient, pleasant beyond belief, and delivers great customer service. Nick (the owner) I've not had many dealings with but is brilliant too and a nice guy. I'll be leaving their property soon unfortunately and will be very sad that they will not be my landlord anymore. I've loved being a tenant of theirs and would urge anybody looking for a property to make Alternative their first port of call. If I ever move back to Coventry again they are the first agency I will go to! To Nick, Annette, John and the rest of the staff at Alternative, thankyou for such a great 5 years. Wishing you all the very best in the future xx

I have always used Alternative Estates to help with not only buying and selling my houses but for my mortgages. As a director of my own business, Alternative Estates helped me get a mortgage which I think would have been impossible with out their guidance! They have also helped me sell and buy both my properties, I have recently moved and found the whole process to be hassle free. So Many Thanks to Alternative Estates thankyou for a fantastic service and I'll be using your services again.

Avoid like the plague

We used alternatives and it was the worst decision ever. They breached their own contract on 4 occasions, didn't get an EPC done until after we sold and I'd complained on several occasions. They don't like doing viewings, but if you insist then it's worse than you doing the viewings yourself. They also don't vet potential customers so we accepted an offer from people who were unable to proceed. Then they failed to tell us the genuine reason for our next buyers pulling out. Now, they have not taken our property off the market despite our contract finishing, nor will they return our calls! Worst service ever! 1 star is too high a rating, but I can't leave none!
