GoogleAbsolutely disgusted with the communication and unprofessionalism from the staff at Spencer’s. We were mid way through purchasing a property, survey, searches etc all complete. Received a phone call from Spencer’s to say up your offer on the property or it’s gone. They failed to keep us fully informed that a new offer had been put forward completing checks in the background to check the new offer was financially viable .They thought it would be nice to give us less than 24 hours to make a decision. Spencer’s did not seem to care in the slightest , over £2,000 wasted. I hope no one else has to go through this unpleasant experience with people who do not actually care and are just interested in getting more commission.
We are terribly sorry that this situation has arisen, and we understand how upset and disappointed you must be with the outcome. However, as discussed, this outcome was entirely outside of our control. As the selling agent we are legally obligated to inform the seller of all offers received, and in this case the interested party had already made direct contact with our client to put forward their offer. When we first discussed the new offer with our clients, they were undecided as to whether they would accept it given the progress they had already made with their sale to you, and they requested time to consider it over the weekend before coming to a decision. During this time, we began our standard due diligence in respect of verifying the potential new buyer’s position. Unfortunately, on the Monday morning, having considered the substantial sum involved, our clients made the difficult decision to withdraw from their sale to you. This information was shared with you immediately and before you had incurred any further legal/professional fees. In consideration of these unfortunate circumstances, we have made every effort to keep your abortive fees to a minimum (at a financial loss to our business) and we will continue to do whatever we can to assist you in this regard. Whilst we are not dismissive of the emotional and financial implications our client’s decision will have meant for you, we do not feel your comments accurately reflect the circumstances, nor do they take into account our obligation to provide advice based on our clients’ best interest and then act on their instructions.

From start to finish everything ran smoothly and no matter who you spoke to when you called in, they knew the exact status of my sale and purchase, giving reassurance every step of the way.
