GoogleCHP sent a request for payment to their two paying leaseholders requesting an additional £192.00 for various items. One of which was for us to pay for the clearance of an Ash tree which had been pollarded. The tree isn't even in our communal garden, we didn't request for this to be done, it didn't need to be done, it wasn't affecting anything in the opposite garden. But CHP thought we will get that done, no idea why, and we will bill our leaseholders they can suck up that cost, oh we have also been billed for a fence panel, also not in our garden. CHP are ripping us leaseholders off, spending our money without consulting us first, disgusting behaviour I wish I had never bought this property. I have had nothing but pain from CHP. I pay them approx. £50.00 a month for maintenance all they do is cut the grass, there is no communal entrance, it is a very low maintenance property. The rangers are fit for nothing who are supposed to go around and check their properties there is a sofa sitting in the garden opposite which has been there for 3 weeks, the maintenance would have seen it and they chose not to report it being there, probably mowed around it. Hideous landlords, no conscience, they think they can get money out of their leaseholders for everything. Constantly moving the goal posts for who is responsible for what to suit themselves. They are an immoral housing association. I have contacted LEASE regarding this request for payment. I can see there are a lot of very unhappy residents with CHP, they don't seem to be taking note of these reviews which says a lot about them.

GoogleCHP are the worst housing association I've ever had the misfortune of being with. I've had so many issues with the property, mold, damp, antisocial behaviour ect. It took me 3 yrs to get new taps on the bath. Now imagine my surprise to find a neighbour has just got a brand new front door (mine is just an unpainted piece of cheap wood) The reason they got this is the police had to knock down her door twice as she was so drunk!! I've also recently found out that some people have been given food vouchers ect. These are the people that spend all their money on booze and fag's while people like me are left to suffer. As a vulnerable adult I have never been offered any kind of support. I also have a physical disability but have to live on the top floor and unlike others in my block I only have a bath no shower. Come on CHP help the people that really need it not the one's who know how to play the system

GoogleThey have a culture of contempt of tenants and treat them with suspicion and neglect. Poor communication. Severely incompetent administration. Are being manipulated by contractors. They seem beyond reforming.
UPDATE September 2025 Staff have erroneously shared information about other residents with me three times in the past couple of weeks - CHP has no idea about the governance of data and needs to be investigated

GoogleThey don't listen to any concerns. You raise like to bully and intimidate to vulnerable people who rent their property. My 2 kids were hospitalised because of mould and damp and chp were willing to do nothing about it Put me in thousands of pounds worth a debt My.
Stuff was destroyed because of them. And there was nothing in compensation for what they have done to me and my family and the items I have lost because of their property and them not listening to the repairs I reported, I wouldn't recommend them as a landlord. Then I do hope this review goes quite far with anyone else. Who is in the same situation

GoogleWorst customer service. 6 days now with no heating and hot water ! Awaiting new boiler! Property is absolutely freezing, 11/4/21 No hot water in the middle of a pandemic when washing is key to helping protect against covid! Despite telling them I do Manuel labour (key worker) and need to shower or bath when I finish work it’s clearly not being treated as a emergency repair. Iv asked for a temp repair until boiler is fitted and was told prob wouldn’t be able to get the parts which is just another load of B/s from Arron services.

GoogleI was nominated for a property by Chelmsford Council on 31st July. CHP have only just contacted me regarding this. Meanwhile, I'm in completely inappropriate accommodation, totally incompatible with an Occupational Therapist's report. Apparently, delaying the process further, I have to have background checks, fill application forms, etc. CHP have already failed their credibility test with me.

Job was reported to Chp 25november by t browning as a cupboard needs removing so boiler can be fixed and it's now 11 February and it still hasn't been done!! Chp think it's fine to leave me and my 4children with a boiler that only occasionally works meaning my heating don't work properly and it's using a ridiculous amount of gas! Disgusting treatment from Chp!

GoogleWOW, one rule for one and another rule for your neighbour. Absolute joke.
In CHP tenancy it states that basic things such as maintaining the garden, not leaving rubbish in the garden, ensuring us and/or anyone that enters their property does not make excessive noise are all tenant responsibilities.
After over 18 months of having a neighbour who has attempted to attack the neighbour who lives beneath her with a metal pole, has spat at myself, has not maintained their garden, dead foxes and rodents, tv aerial laying on the roof sitting dangerously held on by just the cable, CCTV cameras that invade our privacy (including facing on to the rear garden), slams doors, cupboards and bangs the pipes in their property, screaming and whaling at all hours. They have even called the fire brigade out and got told by the fire brigade not to waste their time. Amazing how no one else moans just this 1 tenant! After speaking with other neighbours found out this has being a ongoing problem for a number of years.
I have sent numerous emails over the last 18 months complete with video recordings and numerous photos regarding these issues as has the neighbour who lives beneath the trouble tenant, but nothing seemed to be done. About a month ago I was advised that the individual who was dealing with the complaint last year was no longer working for CHP and Steve Rolstone would be taking over.
All seemed to be well and credit to Steve he advised throughout what was going on and what he would be doing but he couldnt advise about the garden as that was a different department/individual. He visited the tenant in question and within 3 weeks the tv aerial has being removed, It also seems the cameras have being moved although one still comes on as I go up my footpath so it is clearly invading my privacy still. It is also facing directly onto a road that comes out of a SEND school which is a concern.
Today I receive a phone call from Keifa Carroll and I was advised that CHP will be sending a contractor round to clear the garden, when questioned at whos expense I was informed this will be paid by CHP
Pretty disgruntled as I dont believe it is fair that one person gets their garden cleaned for free yet myself and other tenants have to maintain it themselves, Failure to do so is a breach of the tenancy. When I asked if they want to maintain mine Keifa repeatedly tried fobbing me back off to the switchboard. What is interesting is that a friend who lives is a CHP tenant had a letter sent which informed him to cut his front hedge or risk being hit with a bill from CHP for them to come and do it.
I explained this has being a ongoing problem and expressed my disgust that she is able to get away with breaking numerous tenancy terms. I advised that If she spits at myself again as CHP dont care I will deal with the matter myself and go through the front door, I am only human and can only tolerate so much. I myself have numerous issues with my health and mental state.
Because I advised this I was straight away reminded the calls are recorded. I have no problem with that and in fact I asked for a copy of the recording under the GDPR but was told by Keifa Carrol that she doesn't have this information. I informed her that any data including recorded phone calls should be provided via a Data Protection Handler and I wanted their direct contact details to get a copy of the phone call. All I was repeatedly told was to call the switchboard. I advised this was not good enough but she repeatedly said the same thing like a broken record.
After myself and other neighbours have put up with the problem for over 18 months and it was a problem before we was both renting these properties the tenant should have being evicted or moved into somewhere where they can get the care/attention they desire. It is completley unfair that we have to tolerate this, we have to look after properties meanwhile CHP will maintain theirs, so much for equality.
Not impressed, my next step will be speaking with the local councillor, papers and/or housing ombudsman.

GoogleWhat can I say? This is a terrible company all they're after is money after my children's mum died in January. I've been waiting for a response to see if I can acquire the tenancy which doesn't look like it's going to happen as they don't even respond. there happy to kick out three vulnerable children and let the property sit there empty . After they lost their mum this company lost their house as well and they could have stayed in the house and grieved for there mother. But instead they had to sleep next to train tracks in wickford not sleeping for weeks on end in a small room .they should be disgusted with themselves not even the decency of a email or phone call.

People should not be living this way , applications from councils to Chp should not be single women , and definitely people with mental health problems should not be put forward, been abused already don't want anymore , all this and it simply started because the man downstairs said no communal it's only for him , wasn't rocket science . Googlewow and just wow at incompetence seems they have employed a handy man who isnt that handy puts wrong taps on sinks and then shouts at the tenant saying what what what to her treads on her dog and then leaves comes back leaves door open and lets her dog out an absolute nutcase on the loose.....oh and Thomas Scotting wont ring you back either he is non responsive to his staffs mistakes. I tried to book the tap in to be changed told all the advisors on telephone calls which i have recorded on my phone by the way that after i asked for them not to send the same guy to my property who made me feel uncomfortable and couldnt fix anything if his life depended on it no contact was made despite me leaving a message on Thomas Scottings message answer phone. Looks like this lot dont care about their tenants at all but send out random handy men that cant even fix a washer let alone taps...im fuming been waiting over two months for a bloody phone call back......my blood is boiling i cant even use my sink

GoogleUnfortunately this morning, I left my house key indoors, when I realised it, I called CHP, I was told it will cost £50, for someone to help me gain access to my apartment, this call was around 10.39 AM, though, I was told it can take up to 4hrs, I explained to CHP about the urgency, they finally told me there was someone around my area who is finishing up a job and I will be next, as i write, it's been 3hrs, still waiting. I called at 11:38 am for an update, again the person would be around about 1 pm, still waiting. Yes, it's no one's fault, but the service can and should be improved. 4hrs of waiting is not good. I don't have anyone around to go to, been standing out in the wet and cold weather, I have even had some embarrassing incidents, which can't be mentioned. If this isn't an emergency, then I don't know what is.

Google**Update**
The issue was resolved and CHP have been nicer or at least appear so, as such I am updating this review to match. I have updated the rating because while service is better the initial experience was something horrible to go through. My original review remains. I will say that as far as shared ownership goes I cannot compare to other providers but L&G are acceptable and offer a decent service.
If you are purchasing a shared ownership house through legal and general in the Essex area I would highly advise you reconsider. L&G use CHP for the rental part of the purchase and to say they are useless is an understatement.
For weeks I have been trying to register an account on their website which appears to have a bug that prevents further progress beyond the validation stage. All of the agents I have spoken to are either apathetic or clueless.
Having resigned myself to the knowledge that the site is useless and the staff unhelpful I requested that I receive an invoice or letter with my balance and details of what I need to pay. Even this request has proved too difficult for them.
AVOID LEGAL AND GENERAL AND CHP if you can.

GoogleCHP are lucky I can’t give 0 stars! They have been very unprofessional during this very hard time for everyone. CHP have put a stop to all repairs, exchanges and basic up keep of properties during COVID. I’ve been told for the last 2 weeks everyday that someone will call me back in 1 working day to which know one does so I call again and get told the say thing. I’ve escalated my complaint on many occasions and still know one comes back to me. I have even got the local MP involved now as CHP are not thinking of it’s residents or there mental health during this crisis, they are just happy we keep paying for the rent!
I’ve never had a problem with CHP up till now, I really feel they have let there residents down extremely and need to sort this ASAP!
