GoogleI'd highly recommend Phoebe if you're looking to purchase a house. She was so lovely, didn't rush us at all when we asked to do more viewings and managed to help us buy the house we live in now. We had such a good experience with her and Beresford. The other staff we met at Chelmsford were really lovely too, passed on our information quickly and was clear with their communication.

GoogleI can't praise Hannah Grant, Senior Inventory Clerk, enough! She was so helpful advising us how to proceed with a deposit dispute when our leaving tenants refused to negotiate with us regarding the damage they caused at our apartment. Entering into a deposit dispute with our tenants has been very stressful and I felt out of my depth initially. But I know Hannah will be at the end of a phone or email to assist us along the way. GoogleI originally wrote a review to post here immediately after dealing with Beresford's but it was too long to be accepted by Google and I therefore left it. However, having recently received an email from Beresford's offering mortgage advice, it has prompted me to put a few words together. Having dealt with Beresford's in our previous rental property, I can honestly say they are best described as parasites, the dictionary meaning of which fits them very well. I've dealt with incompetence before but Beresford's went above and beyond to ensure that they demonstrated their complete inability to act in a professional manner. They wanted a considerable sum of money from our deposit but thankfully my wife picked apart their end of tenancy report piece by piece and we submitted a dispute with the DPS. They ruled in our favour and nothing more was said from Beresford's. Absolute amateurs in every sense. **EDIT** Further to the response from Beresford's, the issues came about from the end of tenancy report created by Beresford's themselves. It was wholly inaccurate and did not represent damage/issues caused by us. For instance Beresford's highlighted that there were weeds in the garden which would require a gardener and yet the inventory contained photos showing weeds in the garden when we moved in. We essentially handed the garden back as we found it. Pins and nails in walls, again tried to charge us for them and yet the inventory showed the very same things already in the walls when we moved in. I could go on as at the time, we picked your report apart piece by piece. There is a reason why Beresford's are rarely recommended on local social media groups when people ask for agent recommendations. Amateurs through and through.
Hi Chris, I was naturally disappointed to read the contents of your review and felt the need to cross reference our internal file notes. As we have not had any dealings with you since 2021 you appear to be referring to an issue which dates back more than two years where you were in dispute with your landlord over the return of your dilapidation deposit when your tenancy came to an end. Unfortunately, the landlord wanted to retain an element of your deposit due to some damage at the property being deemed to be beyond fair wear and tear. You disputed the amount being claimed and despite efforts to reach an amicable compromise between yourself and the landlord, the matter had to be independently adjudicated by a third-party Company (not Beresfords). The adjudicator confirmed an amount should be taken from your deposit, albeit at a lower figure than was first claimed by the landlord. The landlord accepted this decision and the remaining balance from your deposit returned to you immediately. In such instances Beresfords have no influence over such a decision and merely provide all related evidence to the adjudicator. Contrary to your comments, we didn't want a considerable sum of money from your deposit as we have no legal right over it. The money which was forfeited was awarded directly to the landlord by the independent adjudicator. This process has been put in place to ensure both landlords and tenants are treated fairly and where neither party can agree between them what is reasonable, the independent resolution process ensures both parties are able to put their case forward to someone who has not been directly involved in the tenancy. I hope this explanation provides a clearer indication of our Company's position in this instance and clarifies the extent of an agent’s role, should a deposit dispute be referred on to an independent adjudicator. All staffs are friendly, especially Thomas who was highly professional, super friendly and easily approachable all the time for all the queries I had regarding the movement as I had a tight timeline to move-in to the rental accommodation in a week's time. He was able to turn the things around and finalise the deal for me in a real short time (less than a week) by swiftly completing the safety checks and background checks. Keys were handed to me in advance than promised. Thank you Thomas 😊

GoogleWe have had a brilliant experience with Beresfords, unlike any experience I have had with an estate agent before. I usually dread interacting with estate agents during the moving process, they (generally) take ages to get back to you, are unresponsive, and not very helpful. Beresfords are the complete opposite. From the very first phone call enquiring about the property, the show around, the paperwork etc, Beresfords have been amazing. Our lettings consultant Thomas was brilliant - super responsive, called us a couple of times to give us updates about how the renovations were going prior to our move in and was more than happy to answer any questions. Christine who was in charge of our referencing and paperwork was equally as helpful and we felt really looked after and like they had our best interests at heart, which has never happened before with an estate agent! I don't usually leave Google reviews, but was so impressed with these guys that I felt I needed to let them and others know - can't recommend enough!
