Strange experience with this agent

Strange experience with this agent. We kept being told that viewers really wanted our house & then were offered a fraction of the asking price. They sent round a lot of viewers one of which offered 1/10th the asking price! Such a waste of our time. There was then a big gap with no viewings. A person then came round - offered 100K below asking & said they were a cash buyer. I did begin to wonder whether some kind of scam was in operation. We eventually took the house off the market & won't ever be going back to M&B

Perfectly managed Sale

Lisa was exceptional. There were many challenges along the way but she had the happy knack off keeping you calm and assured that things were moving in the right direction.House moves are never a walk in the park but it was a pleasure knowing I was in safe hands

Great experience with Miles and Barr

We both bought and sold a property with Miles and Barr, downsizing from a four-bedroom semi to a two-bedroom bungalow in the next street. The staff at Miles and Barr were knowledgeable and helpful throughout the whole process, in particular Rebecca Gravener who was the progress chaser and saw everything to a successful conclusion.

Appalling and shocking Estate Agent…DO NOT USE

Appalling and shocking Estate Agent that should not be in business and should be closed down. I cannot begin to describe the awful service provided by this estate agent. They never act in the owners behalf and carry out illegal practices, such as releasing a deposit to tenants before they have ended tenancy and check out is completed -which is breach of contract! Throughout the whole experience they have never acted in my interests and have always gone against what I have asked, despite me being a loyal customer for over 10 years. They are condescending, rude and no help whatsoever always belittling me on the phone, making me sound like my requests were stupid and that they were not going to complete these for me. Please read all these reviews before instructing them - we all cannot be wrong!!!!! They have caused me untold stress in an already stressful situation with a nightmare tenant that they RECOMMENDED to me and pushed for the tenancy. Please please do your research on these 'cowboy' agents.

We are very disappointed to read your review and we are sorry to hear you feel our service didn't meet your expectations. However, we do not think that it is a fair reflection of the events and our service. You had a sale and your tenant refused to move out which meant you lost your sale. We carried on trying to find the tenant a property to save you the cost and time of going to court. We eventually found the tenant a property and the day before she was due to move she advised she wasn’t able to get a deposit for her new property. We advised that you had a choice in either to gain possession of your property quickly then it might be in your best interest to release the deposit held on your property, to enable the tenants to move out. The other choice we gave was for you to start possession proceedings and regain possession of your property in 4-6 months time. As speed was of the essence, you chose the option of releasing the deposit, meaning the tenant vacated. Subsequently, the tenant has not left the property in the best condition and has taken an appliance. We are sorry that you feel this way but we felt it only fair to give you the options and advice on both scenarios and ultimately let you make the choice that would best suit your circumstances. We do not recall you advising at any point over the years of management that you were disappointed in our service. We do understand how disappointing it is to find the tenant left the property in such a condition.

Miles and Barr have been an excellent team to work with, they have helped amazingly with both buying and purchase. Constant updating, and more viewings, if compared… And thanks to Becky White also with chasing up with the correspondence between solicitors, and rushing things up. Thanks, amazing job. Over all a wonderful experience.

Suzanne has been excellent throughout what has been quite a tricky sales process for reasons that are nothing to do with her or M&B. She has been professional and knowledgeable and kept things moving brilliantly. And beyond that she has been very kind, empathetic and supportive and I have really valued that.

Professional, and courteous staff. Kristy has been my main contact and has been great at keeping in touch throughout the process which is so important as house buying is generally a stressful experience. So having someone keep us in the loop is really appreciated. The viewing process was very thorough and all questions answered, even ones that Kristy didn't have immediate answer to, she followed up didn't just forget about us.I wish we were selling through Miles and Barr. But as the purchasing Agent, I really cannot rank them high enough. Many thanks, Martin.

Thank you Louise Daly! The whole experience, from viewing the property to purchasing it, was great. Louise was excellent as our sales progressor, always available, returned our calls promptly and nothing was to much trouble for her - even the most trivial of questions! We really appreciated all her help and support.

Poor customer service

My first time dealing with a property company and it was not the best experience. I was looking to relocate to England, contacted them and made them aware that I am in Scotland so I would prefer a video viewing. However, I was strongly advised against it and was told by a member of staff that it was "unusual for us to let a property without a viewing". Fine, we arranged a viewing the following week. There were multiple confirmations, even one a day before the viewing was supposed to take place. Bearing in mind, I travelled more than 700MILES for a viewing, that was how sincere I was. I got a phone call on the day the viewing was supposed to take place, saying that the property was rented out. A short apology over the phone but there was no other recommendations as to what they could offer while I was there. I was really angry having spent hundreds on my travel and accommodation for nothing. Very irresponsible of them I would say. Does not have to take a first timer to know that this kind of service is unacceptable.

£60 wheeze to get verified is not helping sell your home

As an investor, their idiotic £60 charge to get a customer verified means I wouldn’t even view a property with them. If looking to use them to sell, don’t, they are clearly more interested in cheap wheezes to make more money than getting the best price for your property. They make enough from their commission to cover this cost.

Dear BryanWe take the point raised in your review seriously, as we take great care in delivering a professional and transparent experience. Sellers and buyers are required by law to have an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) check before a home can be marketed to buyers and a sale agreed to buyers. Like many other businesses within our industry, these checks are an additional charge as they are carried out by a professional, qualified third party.

One star is quite generous

One star is quite generous. I cannot possibly express just bad Miles & Barr are. It would be easy to think this is just a rant from a disgruntled tenant but after the time, money and love that was put into our property we have been treated like something someone has stepped in. We has respect for our home and have looked after it as though it was our own. The outgoing inventory supports this. Throughout the whole tenancy we were constantly praised for how nice, clean and decorated the property was, paid in advance and always kept on top of everythingThey haven’t a clue about the law, children and disabilities. Property managers definitely aren’t employed for their brains nor their experience. Rude, self entitled and so unprofessional. The overall lettings manager struggles with anything that requires important attention and hides behind her computer. We had been warned prior to renting with them that they were a nightmare, however we loved the house and area so took the house. Trying to get anything done is hard work, which is why we did so much as tenants to the property ourselves. If we waited for them each time the house would have gone into ruin! As it is the house was left in immaculate condition and a brand new garden for new tenants to enjoy! Be warned they will actively discriminate against disabled children. As tenants we did everything to the house but we asked for one little arrangement and the agent and landlord thought breaking the law was the better option. Even better was issuing a section 21 in revenge for reporting the discrimination and lying saying the landlord was selling only to see it being re let! Honesty is not Miles & Barr. Also be warned make sure you sign the inventory and record delivery any differences because they will try screwing your over and charging for things that do not appear on the ingoing and outgoing inventory. You have to threaten them with dispute to get your money back. They did this to my neighbour down one and to us.

Many thanks to Shelley Webster, What a smooth transaction, keeping me informed all of the way and making everything so personable to me and my house sale. What could have taken the normal 4-5 month estimate of the house progression was done in just under 3 months!
