We have rented with Dexters for a long time, so that should tell you something! Alex Broderick took care of us during our recent move and she went over and beyond herself to help us with whatever we needed. She's a star and makes a real difference to that office! Warm, responsive and definitely gets the job done. If you are looking for a home, ask her. She knows exactly what you need and helps you find it. Thanks Alex! Really wish we could say the same about everyone we have interacted with over there, but there were a few stresses along the way (for the move from one property to the next) that could've definitely been avoided!

Let down by poor communication within the company

Unfortunately we were let down by this letting agent yesterday. We had a 6pm viewing for a house in Hayes, I drove 1h in rush hour traffic to visit the property and on arriving I was met by the agent who informed me that the locks had been changed that day and his key did not work, so we could not access the property.He was very apologetic and I understand he was also frustrated as he himself had spent 45 minutes travelling to the property.He did offer to rearrange a viewing but I was so disappointed in the lack of organisation (how can it be that locks are changed and the letting agent/property managers are not informed?) and frustrated at the waste of my time and petrol (2 hours round trip) that I will not be using this company going forwards.I would have left 1 star but the letting agent was truly apologetic and did remain professional in the situation.

For over three months Dexter’s have not been fixing the fact that we have no working hot water. This has been after they have repeatedly sent plumbers who have informed us and informed them that we needed a new water tank, but Dexter’s has repeatedly refused to fix that. When we pay £2200 a month for a flat, you would think that they would at least make sure that we have the basic amenities of functioning hot water but that has not seemed to have been the case. Additionally, they took months to fix our broken washing machine and our fence to our private garden which had such a big chunk of it broken that a trespasser managed to get in through the opening in the fence. Even after Dexter’s was informed of this and the police report was forwarded to them, it still took around five months for them to fix it even with us calling them every day to try to get this fixed. Recently, we asked for a rent reduction to make up for the months without hot water, a working washing machine, and a proper fence to ensure safety and they rejected any offer to make things right with a rent reduction as they claimed that none of these issues have been explicitly their fault. However, I would think that health and safety would surely fall under the remit of an estate agent. Finally, when we moved in Dexter’s made us sign a two year contract and, due to these issues that I have been having with the flat, I have been trying to get out of my contract with them and be able to move out of my flat. Dexter’s have made this process incredibly difficult for me, even refusing to fill out my referencing for another flat which I had found and hoped to move into and that I have now lost as a housing option.

I have been a client with Martin and Wright for a number of years. I have always found Jay Hayden and his team highly organised, professional and efficient. They don't claim to be the cheapest company on the letting market, but indeed what you are getting is very much 'total value for money'. When the company changed over to Dexters, I was a little concerned about how this may affect the quality of service I had been receiving. However, I need not have worried - as standards are now even higher (if that was at all possible!). Incidentally, Tina Repton is their highly efficient Property Manager and certainly gets things done! When my current tenants made me aware they were not going to renew their lease, I decided to test the Purplebrick approach. Yes, I was tempted in by the initial price, but quickly realised that in many respects, I was wasting my money due to them not really understanding my requirements or marketing the property correctly (ie..phoning up potential tenants and arranging viewings). I guess the old saying 'You only get what you pay for' is so true. After discussing the matter further with Jay Hayden at Dexters (And eating humble pie!), within 24 hours or him marketing my property' he found me suitable tenants. I should add that I am not related or connected in anyway to Dexters, but just one of those traditional people who appreciates honesty, professionalism and high quality customer care. This is something Jay, Tina and their team have in abundance, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to you.

I have been dealing with Martin & Wright for many years. They have been helping me let my rental property. When it was announced that Dexters were amalgamating with them I was apprehensive. My service had always been excellent in the past. I need not have been concerned. Under the management of Jay Hayden, the team at West Hampstead has been superb. Lettings have continued to be efficiently organised with any problems sorted out quickly. I have always recommended the company in the past and will continue to do so in the future.
