I was especially impressed by Charlie. He took a genuine interest in finding out exactly what I was looking for as a purchaser. The viewing I requested was confirmed quickly and suited my quite specific timing. Charlie was professional and helpful during the viewing and I have to say he was one of the best representatives I’ve met during this whole process.

landlords steer clear

I am a landlord with two properties they looked after. For 18 months. on one property I was never paid my rent on time. I was always chasing for my money. There is no one in the office. You always have to leave a message and they don’t get back to you even my tenants had trouble reporting faults to the property as I said there was no one there for them so I would never get the message. I have had property for over 20 years and I have never come across a managing agent as bad as these. That is why I only stayed with them for 18 months. It would’ve been 12 months but you have to give them six months notice. Again I’ve never heard of that. My advice to landlords steer clear.

I was so happy to read the sales narration I now understand was written by Paigton one of the Property Valuers. When I read it, it appeared she was writing as if it was her personal property. The details were reflective of the property and clearly in admiration of its selling points. The selling points were strongly and appropriately conveyed in the draft text I reviewed. In fact, the narration went beyond my expectations. I did not need to change anything. Overall the staff both in Sales and Lettings are a pleasure to work with and bring a balanced personal and professional perspective to their expertise.

Very disappointed with the whole sales…

Very disappointed with the whole sales process. It started even before we entered into the contract, when the papers we were sent for signing had the wrong address for the property we were selling. Apparently the system wouldn’t allow them to select the correct address, but as we didn’t want to be seen to be selling someone else’s property we insisted on it being fixed, and after many emails back and forth it turned out it was in fact possible to update it to the correct address. That was just the beginning. It took several weeks to get the property on the market. The agency then published the wrong photos as well as wrong information about the property itself, which, although we spotted it immediately and asked them to take down the ad until the errors had been corrected, stayed up for another three days. Long enough to put potential buyers off. It then took another week if not more to get the agency to correct the ad (on two occasions one error was removed and another one added) and get it back online. During this period the agency were unresponsive and difficult to get hold of and it seemed as though they only made an effort when pushed. We, on the other hand, were growing impatient to get the property on the market after long delays. When the ad was finally up we noticed that the presentation video made up from the photos of the property, still contained the wrong photos, but by this time we were so fed up we just let it slide. What we really wanted was to move to another agency as soon as possible, but since Sharman Quinney has the longest sole agency period of any agencies we’ve encountered (24 weeks compared to the usual 12 weeks), we had no choice but to remain. In the end the property was not sold, they did not seem to make any efforts to market it but instead sat on their hands and waited for business to come to them. We also had no feedback during the process unless when we asked for it repeatedly, not even when we were told several viewings were booked and the potential buyers cancelled were we informed. It’s the worst agency we’ve dealt with and we were happy when we were finally able to move to a more professional one.

Earlier this year we were searching to buy a property in Oundle and desperate to move to the area. Linda McMullan is an outstanding estate agent. All the agencies we registered with made little to no contact with us and it was down to us to chase them to see if they had new properties coming to the market. This was not the case with Linda. Linda rang us weekly to see how our search was progressing, kept us informed of events happening in Oundle and what properties were coming to the market. She was formidable in our house search and even at the end when we found a property with another agent, Linda kept in touch and helped our transition to moving up to Northamptonshire. Linda is a total professional and with confidence I would happily sell any property via her as I know the service I received as a house seeker was professional, caring and supportive. Bullshit excuses like the landlord hasnt got an email .the land lord has gone on holiday. The landlords signature was different. Still no return of deposit. We are now starting legal proceedings.

A great agent in what is a crowded market space within Cambourne. Manager Simon & team Archie, Caleb & Bailey were all exceptionally attentive, professional, abundant in property knowledge and most importantly, agile and flexible with both vendors and buyers. (This is what you need at what is usually a very exciting but often emotional time) Additionally, they actually very communicative of feedback, & strategy of selling and buyers warmed to them immediately which is precisely what you want when selling your property. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, they value and pitch your home correctly to begin with! This is critical if you require minimal anguish and swift timelines and to NOT to miss your next dream property! - They do NOT 'over-price', just to win your listing - They do NOT, 'under-value' either, just to sell your home quickly just to increase their month's or period's revenue projections. DON'T be tempted by either as are plainly wrong, as either loses you chunks of value by being too cheap OR reduces your audience that in turn can keep you on market looking stale for months, to then take ridiculous offers and again, cost you tens of thousands of pounds. Of course with all house moves, some issues will take place. However, I can honestly say, Sherman Quinney, especially Charlotte from the Cambourne branch took it in her stride and really went above and beyond. If it had not been from the support we had from Sharman Quinneys Manager (Nick) I believe our sale and purchase would have fallen through. If I could have swapped agents for both sale and purchase at that late stage I would have done and Nick and I were exploring all options due to poor support from my sales estate agent. I finally exchanged and completed in two days after 6 months. I cannot recommend or thank Nick enough. We are very happy in our new home. Fairly disappointed with the service. A tactic seems to be to over value the property initially to secure a seller this happened to us and a couple of friends. Communication is extremely poor. Emails & calls went ignored a number of times and in the end I gave up and just started liaising with our sellers solicitors Fine & County. They called me once a week with updates and chased various bits ups for us and without them I don’t think the sale would’ve progressed. That would be the sort of service I would expect. Overall I would say Sharman Quinney are an expensive agent given the service provided. UPDATE: I have emailed twice now the address the Sharman customer service representative has requested in their reply but had absolutely no response. Simply underlines my point of the dreadful communication.
