GoogleBooked a valuation with Chloe. We decided to proceed but she asked us to call our other estate agent that the property is marketed with and confirm they were happy to do a dual-market. Called them and they confirmed it was ok. Emailed John German to confirm and get photos booked in as they knew we needed to move fast. We then had a phone call from a colleague asking for more proof. We told them that it was all done verbally and they said they would get Chloe to contact us to book the photos in. The weekend passed with no contact so I called Monday but had no response from Chloe. Spoke with reception who said that Chloe was again requesting more proof. I explained that I am not keep providing proof, she either wants the business or doesn’t but to let us know ASAP as we only have 6 weeks to sell our house. I told them to call the other estate agent to get ‘proof’. The receptionist said she would get Chloe to call me after her next appointment but we heard nothing so have booked someone else. An absolute waste of time.

When appointing an estate agent, it is all too easy to initially focus on the fee quoted and although John German at first appeared more expensive than their rivals, their approach and results more than justified the cost. Simon Redford [Sales Director] not only valued the property with a price tag 13% higher than the competition, it was sold within 2 weeks of going on the market.
Vicky Hughes, their Senior Sales Negotiator & Progressor, requires a special mention with a big thank-you for her excellent communication skills, dogged determination and perseverance in pushing both parties sluggish solicitors across the finishing line. Conveyancing is neither a mystical or difficult process but the experience of this aspect of the sale simply demonstrated that the legal aspect of buying and selling a property is in desperate need of a long overdue reform.
