Q Estate Agents sold my home in East Sussex in 2019. From start to finish, the team were thorough, professional and friendly. The sale itself was not without problems due to prospective purchasers who presented a number of problems along the way, but eventually a buyer was found and the sale secured. John, the negotiator was charming and helpful when showing people around and I had no qualms at all about leaving him with a key to the property for viewings. I found the experience difficult because I was moving from a much loved family home, but Q offered to do accompanied viewings, despite the distance from their offices; this meant I was spared the trauma of dealing with people looking over my home, a prospect which I found quite hard to deal with. Both Jim and James were sympathetic and gently guided me through the process, recognising how hard I was finding the whole thing. I can thoroughly recommend this practice and would have no hesitation in putting their names forward to anyone looking to buy or sell their home.
Hi Kate, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind review. It was a pleasure to work with you on your sale. I hope you're enjoying your new home. If you need anything in the future you know where we are.

We just recently bought a house through Q and can absolutely recommended them. Jim and James were so helpful the whole time and cared so much. We are so greatful as we absolutely love our new home!

We sold our 'hard to sell' house within weeks with Q. James went above and beyond in his role as our agent. I felt they were very transparent, trustworthy and I valued their opinions when decisions needed to be made. Q offer a service where you feel they treat customers as individuals according to their circumstances. We had a very tight deadline to work to, but they promised anything was possible if we wanted and indeed it was! These guys give estate agents a GOOD name!
Hi Shannon, thank you for your very kind review. It was great to work with you and Jon and I'm so glad we succeeded in meeting the deadlines. Good luck in your new home and if we can ever be of assistance in the future please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Q were fantastic at handling the sale of our property. They were always friendly, professional, happy to answer any questions about both our sale and prospective purchase (which they had no link to). The listing they put together for our property was excellent, with really nice photos and they really did all they could for us at all stages. They are not at all pushy, and I felt I could really trust them and their advice, something that certainly can't be said for all estate agents! Thank you to James and the rest of the team for your work, you were brilliant.
Hi Dave Thank you for your kind review. It's been a pleasure working with you and Abigail. We hope you and your family are very happy in your new home. Needless to say, if we can be of assistance in the future please don't hesitate to get in touch.

James and his team provided an excellent service in selling our property. They were unlike other estate agents in that they were always entirely personable, approachable, pragmatic and throughout it all - utterly professional. Our tenants were always informed and kept up to date on viewings and Q Estate kept their promise in keeping disruption to an absolute minimum. James provided us with sound advice in getting the legalities / required paperwork together before we put our property on the market which meant that when it came to selling, it was a smooth process and only took 6 weeks! AND we sold above the asking price! We can't recommend them highly enough!
Hi Alex, thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind review, it's very much appreciated. I hope the new house is all you hoped for, if you need any advice in the future please don't hesitate to get in touch.

We've had a great experience renting with Q over the past two years. Amy has been very helpful when moving in & out of the properties we rented. Would definitely go with Q again.
Hi Sarah, thank you for your review. It means so much to our team when this type of feedback is received. We're so pleased that you appreciated the service.

Q Estate Agents have managed our house in Brighton for over 6 years now. Our current property manager Amy is always friendly, efficient and courteous. The property is well managed and maintained. The management are readily on hand if needed. Q offers a personal and personable service. We would highly recommend them!
Hi Mark, thank you for your kind words. We always aim to meet the highest standards so to get such great feedback is much appreciated.

Well I accidentally copy pasted this over my original review, darn it...should get the gist anyway! Edited for response: I have emails that prove everything I have said if you would like to see them. I think you'll find it was me that was in tears after Jemima came and served noticed and laughed at me for getting upset whilst I was having a panic attack. I was also on skype with my brother at the time so he was witness to the incident. I never shouted at your colleagues that "I was going to leave anyway" I actually asked politely whilst trying to suppress a panic attack if there was anyway they could speak to the landlord about extending a few months as we were currently saving to move out and was told no whilst they chuckled, nervous laughter I don't know, but that is not an appropriate reaction. That is when I decided to leave my reviews, and then suddenly it was okay for us to stay as long as they were taken down. Further to the points you made: I ran my cake business for only a few months before falling ill and I had windows open at all times when baking as we did not have a cat at the time, so that is not a cause; plus, I only baked a few cakes a week, some people bake more than that as a hobby! Once our cat was big enough not to fit through the gap in the windows and the safety locks had been fixed on the windows so they didn't fall open all the way, we literally lived with the windows open 24 hours a day - it was freezing. I went to bed with a hot water bottle and a blanket every night. We also sold most of our furniture within the first 6 months of moving in (2 people moving in normally causes excess furniture to begin with), we had a bed, set of drawers and wardrobe, 2 bed side tables, a dining table and chairs, a sofa suite, 2 pc desks and a couple of bookcases, a fridge and an ikea unit; pretty standard amount of furniture really. We also didn't keep ANY of it by the external walls after the wardrobe was destroyed because it would have got ruined, everything was next to internal walls. The 'passive air vents' the landlord fitted, were already booked in prior to us moving in and work was carried out a few days after we moved in, (we hadn't even unpacked) so there was obviously a known issue otherwise why was it already booked in? The damp surveyors told me that there was rising damp through the whole property, that is structural, nothing to do with us 'not venting a property'. I was there when the survey was done and watched the damp detector go red/yellow every time it was placed to a wall. Also yes, there were times that I wasn't available for people to come round, that was mainly due to me being at college during the last year or so of our tenancy and I wasn't comfortable having people in the house without me being present, however, that was my right as a tenant. You don't win brownie points for sticking to the law/doing your job. I think you'll find that the landlord wanted to re-mortgage his property (he sent someone round to value the flat on the same day the lead flashing was being put up outside), the guy that visited said it was a horribly damp property (and that the lean-to devalued it massively because of the damp issue it had caused). You can't say I was aggressive, most of our communication was via email and I can't really be responsible for how it was perceived by yourselves or your staff. I may have been short at times, mainly when I was called a liar by Jemima regarding the boiler leak and told to pay a fee, and when there was a random man in my house - I had a right to be angry! Obviously you are going to be defensive of your business but I think the way you have responded by being highly personal of myself shows the unprofessional nature in which you dealt with us through the majority of the tenancy we had with you.
It is very upsetting to read this review as this is not a reflection of our company and is certainly not representative of the experience of the 1000's of tenants we have dealt with over the past 14 years. I am sorry you feel the way you do, but I feel it is only right to respond to the accusations you have made as we view them as wholly unfair and inaccurate. You moved in to the property that previously had no dampness issues with the tenants before you. You ran a baking business from the premises and refused to open any windows as you were worried your kitten might escape. You had an enormous amount of furniture and personal belongings which covered a large amount of the external walls, which prevented any warm air getting to them. The property you rented was a single skin Victorian property that requires suitable heating and ventilation. Time after time the moisture problems in this property during your tenancy were deemed to be caused by condensation from moisture created in the property and not being properly dealt with. Despite this, you would not see why it was your responsibility to ventilate the property. As a result of lack of ventilation being deemed the problem the landlord fitted three passive air vents. This improved the situation and we only had contact from you for the leak from the flashing on the rear of the property which was resolved by us, even though it was a freeholder issue. We pushed very hard to speed this process up to reduce any impact on you. The leak from the boiler was reported and the boiler engineer attended and reported that there was no such leak. We did not call you a liar, our engineers can only fix an issue when they can see it. At all times the Directors of the company and the staff went to great lengths to ensure the landlord met their responsibilities. We were very sensitive to you in what was clearly a difficult time personally and were only ever met with rudeness and what can only be described as aggressive behaviour. Indeed after one incident your behaviour made one of my colleagues break down into tears. Despite all of that, we remained professional and at all times polite. When you requested that you be in for all maintenance appointments we agreed. We emailed you at least 24 hours before any appointments and made sure you had given us the go ahead before entry. The incident with the damp engineer entering the property was as a result of miscommunication. We were under the impression you wanted them round asap and thought you had ok’d the following day. It was a one off and an error on our part. Both us and a lot of workmen spent extra time amending their diaries to fit round your timings and your requests, but this was all done no matter how difficult. The landlord ended up asking us to serve notice on you as the reports he was receiving from independent damp companies was that the way you were living in the property was creating the condensation issues and this was damaging the property. We carried out our job and served the notice as instructed. On receipt of this you were again rude and aggressive to my colleagues. You shouted at them that you were going to leave anyway and this put you in a difficult position as you needed to stay for a couple more months. You then posted a negative review of my company as some sort of retribution. Despite your behaviour that day, we talked to your landlord and explained your difficult situation and convinced him to give you another couple of months. I find it wholly unfair that you have made us out to be the villains in this scenario as we have remained professional and responsible throughout all of our dealings with you. We always treat people how we would like to be treated ourselves and have a reputation for going above and beyond for our tenants and landlords. I wish you all the best going forward and am glad that your personal situation has improved. It is very easy to take a pop at a letting agent but

During our home purchase process we have dealt with different agents and a lot of them "make mistakes" on floorplans, use nasty tactics to reveal your real budget, give your personal details to their mortgage broker without your knowledge or consent and so on... Luckily for us Q Sales & Letting are honourable exception from property agent stereotype. Even though our process was bumpy because of issues on other front, I have to say service provided by Q Sales & Lettings was great and I could definitely recommend them to anyone. ...and bonus bottle of wine during key pickup moment, that's how you treat your clients!
Hi Piotr, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. It is always nice to hear that we have bucked the trend and perhaps done a little to change perceptions of estate agents. It was great to work with you guys and we hope you enjoy your new home. Enjoy the wine!

Refreshingly professional! I came across Q Estate Agents several years ago when my trust in this industry was badly dented. Much to their credit, they have restored it. Initially letting and recently selling a flat, I could not fault the service provided by this small and very personable team. Jim and James did a superb job carefully and calmly steering the sale from marketing to completion in less than three months. Clearly an effective duo who definitely set a benchmark for estate agents.
Hi Pauline, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a kind review. It was a pleasure to work with you and we're so pleased we delivered.

I moved to Q Estate Agents after a sale with a previous agent fell through after 5 months of accepting the offer. I was moving abroad and after my previous experience, I wanted to have a quick sale. Everybody at Q was fantastic. They kept me updated at every stage of the process and really understood my situation. I had dozens of viewings when it was a very quiet time in the market and we got the sale completed within a few months. Would highly recommend!
Hi Stacey Thank you for leaving such a kind review, it was great to work with you. We hope you're enjoying the change of scene (and weather)! It you need anything in the future please let us know.

We bought and sold with Q Estate Agents and were thoroughly impressed with their conduct and professionalism throughout. Our chain was fairly complicated and James' oversight of all parties interest's coupled with patience and excellent communication meant that it all happened as smoothly as could have been expected. James breaks the mould when it comes to working with clients looking to buy a property. His no BS approach is a welcome relief when trying to make an informed decision about your next move. He is upfront and honest and never dodged difficult questions. Dom was also a delight to work with - he was a breath of fresh air in some very awkward viewing sitations! Overall, we can't recommend Q highly enough and wouldn't hesitate to use them again in the future.
Hi Carrie. Thank you for your very kind review. We're so pleased that you were happy with our service and appreciated how we work. We hope you have settled in well and are happy in your new home. If there is anything we can do in the future please don't hesitate to get in touch.

I used Q both for the sale of my flat and the purchase of a new house in April 2017. I was really impressed with the service from the outset, the entire team - I dealt with James, Jim and Dominic - couldn’t have been better. I was in a hurry to get my flat on the market to help secure the house my partner and I wanted. James got everything turned around within a day including excellent photographs and a virtual tour. I had offers of the asking price within a week and as a result we got the house we wanted - thank you James! The team dealt with the negotiations both on my flat and on the purchase in a really understanding and professional manner. There were the inevitable challenges arising from other parties in the chain but the team were really good at giving me the support I needed and liaising with my solicitor. I couldn’t have hoped for a better experience, thanks to all the team!
Hi Ryan, thank you for your very kind review. It was a pleasure working with you on your sale and purchase. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if we can be of assistance in the future. In the meantime we'd like to wish you and Hannah much happiness in your new home.

Highly recommend! Everyone has been extremely helpful since we have started renting with Q estate agents: the initial rental process was very smooth and organised, and Jo, Olivia, Amy and Matt have all been very helpful and responsive to any questions or maintenance issues that we have had. Thank you!
Hi Brendan, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We hope you're all settled in now. It means a lot to receive this type of feedback.

I have been a tenant with Q for several years now and always found them very efficient. I have recently renewed my contract for another year and Amy was friendly, super helpful with liaising with my landlord over the new terms and came back to me very quickly. Thanks very much! :)
Hi Kayleigh, i'm so glad your experience has been so good. Thank you for leaving a review.

I had a great experience with 2 of 3 agents at Q Estates, Jemima and Ben were really fantastic. They were friendly and attentive with an understanding of a first time landlord. Both felt very authentic. They let our apartment very quickly and gave us lots of great advice along the way.
Hi Alex, thank you for your review. I'm sorry we fell slightly short of where we should be but hopefully next time will be five stars.

After months of searching unsuccessfully for a house in Brighton we discovered Q Estate Agents who showed us our now new home, pointing out ways to make it into the property we needed. They also provided very useful information about our area and services we might need, always available for advice and viewings. We would really recommend these guys they made us feel they were there to help us through what can be a very exciting but stressful time.
Hi Sue and Ken, we're so pleased we could help. We hope you're enjoying your new slice of Brighton life. If you need anything in the future please let us know.

Thank you to a very helpful team, especially Amy who went out of her way to help with an issue for us recently. Polite, helpful and quick to respond. Much appreciated.
Hi Gavin, thank you for such a kind review. I'm so glad that Amy and the team were able to provide such excellent service.

Moving is the second most stressful thing after divorce, and if you don’t want your house purchase to end in divorce you need an estate agent who will take the stress away. Look no further than Q Sales and Lettings. The guys at Q (Q’sters I called them) are excellent. Right from the start their calm and measured approach was a breath of fresh air from the ‘all flash no trousers’ or downright dull estate agents that we met with. They gave an honest evaluation and guided us on how to make our house look its best for the open day. Once the offers came in they gave us good, honest advice without pressuring us in any direction. Our move was a protracted process with many ups and downs but James, Jim and José were always there with a thoughtful, calming and realistic response. They offered expert advice, let us know what to expect, and even gave us an ear to help us vent our frustrations at times. So remember, if you don’t want your house buying process to end in you sitting in a bedsit in Portslade in your pants, drinking special brew lamenting on what could have been while watching Top Gear on Dave, go with Q.
Thank you for the review 👍 Please recommend 😊 …

Ben Lowe provided an exceptional service in helping me let my flat. Within less than a day of marketing the property, he had found suitable tenants and meticulously led the process of preparing the flat ahead of the tenancy. Ben has proved a highly effective conduit between myself and the tenants, maintaining excellent levels of communication and attention to detail. Would highly recommend.

Avoid This Agency Like the Plague! You've Been Warned! Oh, you want to know about my experience with that agency? Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you. Last year was an unmitigated disaster, and it all boils down to one infuriating truth: the agent knowingly withheld crucial information about the property's appalling condition. Why? Because they were too busy raking in their fat monthly management fees to care that they were renting out a glorified sinkhole. And here's the kicker: once you've paid your deposit and signed their sneaky paperwork, you're officially on the hook. Seriously, you're utterly, completely, irrevocably on the hook. A Never-Ending Cascade of Calamities In a pathetic nine-month period, we endured over 20 visits from contractors. Twenty! And for what? A litany of issues that would make even the most hardened landlord blush: • Saniflow toilets constantly blocking: Apparently, this was a charming recurring feature for years before we even moved in. They just neglected to mention it. • Fridges that couldn't keep anything cold: Naturally, they needed replacing. • "Historical damp" that was just shoddily painted over: And, of course, we had to fork out of our deposit to fix it when it inevitably bled through again within six months. • Bathroom suites disintegrating: After barely any use, mind you. • Mold, glorious mold: A delightful feature in every single bathroom. • Broken window locks: Because who needs security when you're paying a fortune in rent? • Zero loft insulation: Half the house was a freezer, while the other half, with its equally useless sash windows, couldn't hold heat to save its life. • A barely passable EPC rating: Shocking, I know. • Doors with busted latches: Because who needs privacy or the ability to actually close a door properly? And don't even get me started on the garden! It was a slug metropolis, none of the lights worked, and every single planter was cracked and decrepit. The list truly was endless. A Trap on the Way Out But wait, there's more misery! When you sign their "agreement," you're effectively signing away your rights, making yourself liable for any problem caused by structural or historic issues within the building. Yes, you read that right. And this was for a property costing an eye-watering £2,700 a month! And then, just to add insult to injury, they'll go through the place with a fine-tooth comb when you move out. They'll nitpick, take money from your deposit for what's clearly fair wear and tear, or just "spruce it up" on your dime for the next poor fool to stumble into their trap. Oh, and they'll finally fix that external tap that was leaking and caused the damp you had to pay to repaint because you dared to put a sofa against the wall. Getting in is ridiculously easy, but getting out? That, my friends, is a costly, soul-destroying nightmare. You've been warned.

Very happy to recommend Q Estate Agents. We first met James and Jim when they were showing us a place we were interested in buying and we were straight away impressed with the way they talked us through the property. At that time we were viewing a lot of houses with a variety of agents, and they really stood out, where some other agents didn't really seem to care much. So when we decided to go on the market, we went with Q. From the initial valuation and advice, through managing viewings smoothly, to helping us get through the actual sale which (with their help) we managed to complete before the stamp duty increase deadline, I found that they at all times gave us honest and calm advice, and took the time to share their experience and help us with numerous queries as it was our first time selling and buying. We had professional and personal service throughout. Hopefully we don't need to move again in the next several years but if we did I would go back to Q.

Shockingly unprofessional. Arranged a viewing on Saturday afternoon, drove down from the Guildford area (over 2 hour round trip). Viewed the property and was told that we should ring on Monday if we were interested. Called on Monday but no answer so emailed them to say we were interested. Called on Tuesday to find out what was going on only to be told that the the landlord had already accepted an offer the previous week! Be warned.
Hi Tim Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We have had an opportunity to look into your complaint and our recollection is a little different. We explained on the phone that there was already interest in this property and we managed to squeeze you in despite there usually being no viewings at this property on a Saturday. It's unfortunate that your son missed out on this property but we feel the complaint is unfair. Do feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss further.
Where the same review appears twice we show it once. We leave out reviews that name another agent or another of the brand's offices.
Tell us what you need and we'll put you in touch. Q Estate Agents hasn't joined The Trusted Agent yet, so we'll pass your enquiry to them or to up to three other top-rated agents near Brighton.
